MISC. A Virginia man inadvertently left his phone recording while he was under anesthesia for a colonoscopy, which captured audio of the doctors: mocking him, instructing a medical assistant to lie to him, and discussing giving him a false diagnosis of hemorrhoids. In 2015, a jury awarded him $500,000.

I got emergency surgery at 25 for a life threatening pneumothorax with internal bleeding. Everything went so fast that I arrived in the OR with my boxers on and some jewellery. The doctors started making light fun of me, and one of the young interns suddenly yelled: "Oh shit, I actually know that guy". That's how I know about the story. I can completely understand that a lot of medical professionals do this kind of things to relieve the pressure. The story above is just wild

What kind of chirps were they hitting you with ?

They were making light fun of my hippie jewellery and of my long nappy hair. It was a long time ago, and France was a bit conservative for this kind of things, but I can clearly imagine the same kind of things happening today. Nothing really evil, just human beings relieving the pressure.

I understand needing to blow off steam under pressure and that doctors aren't always PC either. As long as they're providing me the best possible care then they can take as many cheap shots as they want, tbh.

Glad you're ok!

Edit:

In the OP it's the lying and false diagnoses that are the real issues to me.

It's not only that, it's also the body shaming, everything is terminally ugly and unredeemable

As of myself, I feel the same as you, but a lot of people are more vulnerable than us. It is a lot better now than it was 25 years ago, but progress can still be made for them.

Very good point, for sure!
