MISC. A Virginia man inadvertently left his phone recording while he was under anesthesia for a colonoscopy, which captured audio of the doctors: mocking him, instructing a medical assistant to lie to him, and discussing giving him a false diagnosis of hemorrhoids. In 2015, a jury awarded him $500,000.

We just had a scandal in the last year or so at one of our local clinics involving nurses taking pictures of vaginal discharge on the exam tables and posting them to social media. So maybe it’s not as rare as you think.

What’s worse is it wasn’t even vaginal discharge, it was lubricant that the doctor/nurses didn’t clean off of the patient after a Pap smear. So she was mocking a patient for something that was due to her own poor care.

I remember that blowing up on Instagram and the clinic firing the people who participated in it

What was annoying though is that some of the photos in that instagram post wasn't even of people participating in it. Like there were several photos with several people and then there were a few group shots where literally nothing was happening. The disgruntled employee then posted all the photos without any sort of context on the group photos. People were calling the heads of the men in the background of that group photo despite there being no photos of them participating. Anyone pointing that out got their comments deleted by the mods.

I worked in mental health for many years. Seemed we had a disproportionate number of nurses and caregivers with severe personality disorders.

I don’t understand why people do weird disgusting shit to embarrass other people, like people recording people in a public restroom taking a loud shit. It’s weird lmao

Hey, I'm a journalist and I helped make them famous! So glad there were insta-firings, as it should have been...

that's not quite the same as doing it with the patient right next to you

Why do we need that distinction?

It was still incredibly inappropriate
