I went on this last year and its much less spectacular in person.
It's a short ride and literally every single person has their phone up block the view. If you go during a busy season, you can expect to even wait hours to just to go up it. The trek throughout the park is far more magnificent than this.

Yeah I mean just from this clip, being stuffed into in one small cubicle like a pack of sardines with everyone’s phones out, screaming in your ear. It’s not a pleasant experience. I’m sure the trek is much better.

Which park is this? Landscape looks like China but that’s the extent of my knowledge (which may still be wrong)

Looks like Zhangjiajie
Going there next year for a Asiatrip along with Chongching!

It is indeed in China. This is in Zhangjiajie which is a city that contains the national park. The elevator is called the “Bailong Elevator.”
Tianmen National Park is also there which has the “stairway to heaven”
The whole city and its parks is a sight to behold. Just don’t go during any holidays.

This is cool, but are the chances of it breaking down higher because it’s outside?

That is not the problem; normally, you replace parts and perform maintenance after a set amount of usage, instead of repairing only when things break down. So, in bad operating conditions, you just need to replace parts and maintain more often. Most problems we have with elevators are caused by management being cheap.

There are 3 elevators in my apartment building and each one has a posting of the last date it was serviced (monthly) in plain sight and that serves as a record.

That's if they service it at all. Lifts placed outside of buildings are more prone to corrosion and strong winds moving and vibrating the cabin.
If that lift breaks down just before you reach the top, you are stuck up there for hours, in a glasshouse, preparing to be cooked alive. The ventilation system may only be dependent on the movement of the cabin in the lift shaft so when it stops, the ventilation is severely reduced.
These are the reasons not to build an external lift cabin primarily out of glass.

Wouldn't have been great if it was just a high textured 3D sheet I was just going in a circle with a vibrator on the floor. And they only went up like 5 ft

Jesus. We might be related. Apparently you and I are the only ones that thought this when we watched it. I literally thought your description is what this was when I watched it.

Destroying nature for tourists $$$ The tourist shit is getting out of hand and social media is not helping

This is tourists admiring nature. I am all for making enjoying nature more accessible for everyone. Removing forest to build dat centers and shit, that’s destroying nature. These people might oppose that too now.

Maybe I'm old school but I much prefer not bastardizing the most majestic parts of our national parks with giant elevators.
Imagine one of these right next to Half Dome? Like wtf

Great view and looks fun, but the obscene nose and excessive wows are cringe. I get being excited and having an exclamation, but a 20sec screen is unnecessary

Lol. You must be a joy to hang around with. 😂

Definitely a lot quieter. Haha
But seriously, a lot of those screams were excessive.
