iPhone 18 Pro Max: 2 weeks later, an absolute beast!
I upgraded from the iPhone 14 Pro (which I absolutely loved) to the iPhone 18 Pro Max two weeks ago, and how do I put it… this thing is an absolute beast! I couldn’t be happier with it!
First things first, the looks. This burgundy color looks so premium. I didn’t hesitate for a single second when choosing the color. (Then again, burgundy is kind of my favorite color, as you can probably tell from the other things surrounding the iPhone in this picture, haha.)
Second, the size. I’ve always owned regular-sized iPhones because I thought the Max would be way too bulky and cumbersome. Well… turns out I was completely wrong! The Max experience is genuinely impressive. Taking photos and videos, watching movies or TV shows… everything feels so much more comfortable on that bigger display. I have fairly large hands, so I don’t find it uncomfortable to use at all, but I can definitely understand why some people might find it too big.
Third, the battery life. Just WOW! It’s incredible. I use my iPhone heavily throughout the entire day, and I still have around 50% battery left when I get home in the evening. Honestly, that’s mind-blowing!
Fourth, the camera. The new variable aperture on the main camera does a great job. It might seem like a small detail, but it can make a real difference depending on the lighting conditions, allowing you to achieve some really nice effects. Same goes for the shutter speed controls!
Fifth, performance. I did some light photo editing and multitasked with several apps running at the same time just to put it through its paces, and it didn’t even break a sweat. No noticeable overheating whatsoever!
And last but not least, I’m now living with just one kidney since buying this iPhone. 😂 (Just kidding, haha.)
Honestly, the only real downside is the price. Other than that, this thing is an absolute powerhouse, and I’m genuinely thrilled with it!
For all the “omg battery life amazing” I find it will go from 75% down to 30-40% pretty rapidly. I also couldn’t transfer my old iPhone to it at all. And typing on Reddit and a few other basic functions is buggy. But like I say I generally don’t use my phone for a ton of stuff so it’s fine.
Just upgraded from a 13 pro max. The camera and battery life are the only upgrades that made any difference to me. If it wasn't for the camera aperture I would have kept the 13 til it died probably
Indeed beast of what???? Carrying 4 years of same main unchanged sensor size? No advancements in camera departments other than the camera aperture gimmick???
I have 14PM, and I still not convinced !
I was very into the Duo, a new experience, but that price would be justifiable after at least 8 years holding the same iPhone.
Getting the better camera - when most of my photos/videos are memories of my family, getting a better cpu/gpu - is not helping me read/listen/write better, although I did want to play some games like resident evil 4 but who has the time when you’re a parent :). And as battery- I’m on 73% battery health, carrying a 20w charger and a battery pack, working in an office, and learning that keeping the level between 80%-20% keep the battery healthy, I’m settled.
The Apple Watch was a change for me, had a S8, watchOS stopped getting new updates, huge reason for an upgrade after 4 years.
Congrats on your upgrade! i have to ask about your previous screen - could it possibly be just a bad screen protector?
Why am I thinking that - because 14 pro and 18 pro are the same sharpness screen, only difference is a tad of a bigger screen, smaller Dynamic Island (more pixel space), and more brightness outdoors and the 1 nit brightness.
Same move here! 14P to 18PM. The experience has been great, this 18PM is a powerhouse. I have average hands; caseless with a magsafe popsocket and have no issues handling the phone.
Did the same move from 14P to 18PM. I did try the 18P for a week but wanted the larger battery and vapor cooling. 14P and 18P are not as one user friendly as old iPhone use to be. Thus my decision to just go to PM.
Caseless, the curved sides make it more comfortable to hold than the sharper edges of the 14 Pro series.
I just upgraded to the 18 pro max in burgundy and it’s a really great phone so far. I had the 14 pro max which was by far my favorite iPhone I’ve ever had, but so far I’m happy with the 18PM. Going to miss that deep purple color with the stainless steel tho…
Oh, what a coincidence, I'm still in a 14 pro max myself and Iwas seriously considering it. Maybe maybe try to get the pro max in silver in the next few days
So far loving it. The big screen is so nice. This is my first pro max. I’m getting old and my eyes are getting worse, so having more room to crank the text size is nice.
Damn, this thing is snappy. Even compared to my 16 pro, it’s just fast and smooth.
And the battery. It still indexing so will get better but… I’ve been messing around for an hour this morning and it hasn’t gotten to 99% yet.
Cameras are great of course. Far more capable than I’ll ever need or use.
Does your phone takes videos in low light at 24fps automatically?I have variable fps enabled, but compared to my old 17 pro max , it does constantly go about 24ish fps on dark environments, rather than my old 17pm that didn’t too much, only when it was really dark. :( I don’t know if that’s normal or a defective camera unit
I have this same exact phone, upgraded from 12pro max, my main issues (1) face id sucks! (2) camera, color and style changes way too much once I actually capture the image, “cheapening” the photo (selfie and back). I have styles turned off and still. Anyone can help me? Might go back to apple

I have the 18P and I’m not really sure what all the hype is about. It’s..fine? Nothing special.
