Solved [AI] Obviously car enthusiasts would never subject their cars to such a risky contest
The male dominated voices and holding a contest without safety barriers just seems like the whole thing is a boomer male goon fantasy. Plus a where would you attach the strap on the Lamborghini?

Absolutely AI, no suspension movement, the rope tied to the bumper would have just ripped the bumper off, there would be much more smoke, the rope gets shorter, the muscle car would not have won that pull against a 4wd Revuelto
28
u/GooseBelly1 9h ago
Actually, I think the rope is tied to the license plate, not the bumper, so they should be all good.

u/Crud-ite 8h ago
Not saying it’s not AI, but wouldn’t the heavier muscle car win at pulling a lighter Lamborghini? I get that in a race it’s lambo 100/100 times. But a tug of war would probably favor the heavier vehicle? Weight aside, the final drive of the muscle car is bigger because it has to move the weight of the vehicle. The lambo is lighter and more tuned obviously, and is all around a better vehicle in every measurable way, but those attributes would be detrimental in a tug of war.
34
u/CromulentPoint 8h ago
The Lamborghini is heavier at over 4000lbs. The heaviest A-body of that vintage is at least a couple hundred pounds lighter.
Also, the AWD, wide tires and new tech would win over a 60ish year old muscle car in a tug of war.
6
u/SnooEagles8912 8h ago
I checked the weights and wow. A 4000lb muscle car would have been considered heavy and mostly for full sized full optioned cars. To think that a modern supercar weigths that is insane.

u/WastelandeWanderer 8h ago

3
3
u/TheFinalFredrick 8h ago
I could be wrong, but I’d think the wide tires and AWD would win out even if the muscle car was heavier no? At least up to a certain point but I imagine that point would be a significant weight difference.
6
u/Ebonhearth_Druid 8h ago
Without the weight itself, the wider tires and awd aren't enough to bridge the gap. Part of the friction equation is weight pressing the tires against the asphalt to counter the weight pulling them across the asphalt.
But as the other person said, the supercar has the weight advantage, too. Lol
2
u/Chairfighter 8h ago
Its a contest of grip and a 4wd car would have a huge advantage over a rwd car

3
u/Mission-Shopping-615 9h ago
Reading through all the top comments and I was thinking the same thing, like people really don’t think this happens?, the obvious indicator I think is the starting butt to butt instead of with a taut rope
3
u/SnarePickle 9h ago
I always love seeing a couple trucks lose bumpers when they do this. And it is almost always (from my experience) a couple of jacked up lifted 4x4's playing these games lol
At least the video got the most likely result right. Those 2 vehicles both have a lot of power, but in different ranges because they are built for different things. A muscle car would most likely win against a supercar because super cars are generally built for mid-top rpm performance for going fast, while most muscle cars are built for power off the line, the quick short race.
I used to run a 67 Firebird that was putting down 385 horse and 520 lbs of torque to the ground at 2,000 rpms, and when I launched the front end would get airborne. But my top speed was around 130mph because of the gearing in the rear end, the gearing in the transmission, and the fact that my motor (Pontiac 455) redlined at around 4500 rpms. I built her for the 1/4 mile, not Nurburgring lol
7
u/Ok_Weird_500 9h ago
I would have thought it would come down to traction rather than raw power, and the Lambos tires are I think wider so should have better traction. I could be wrong on this though.
3
u/AggravatingSpeaker52 8h ago
And the lambo is mid engine with (I'm assuming) more weight over the back tires
2
3
u/SnarePickle 8h ago edited 8h ago
I'm not an engineer or expert or anything outside of my own personal experience. Traction does matter a lot. And wider tires would add some.
But there are a lot of factors.
What are the tires made of? Most drag racing tires use a super soft rubber because it melts and gets sticky and increase the traction by quite a lot. Most supercars would run a different rubber formulation, still softer than standard car tires, but not as soft as drag racing tires.
How much torque they can apply to the ground also matters. Most supercars have higher gear ratios and develop power in the mid to upper RPM ranges so they can go real damn fast for a long time, while most muscle cars, even OEM stock, have lower gear ratios which allows them to apply more power to the ground at lower RPMS.
If this were a real video there would be a lot of wheel hop going on, with both vehicles bouncing up and down and side to side as they keep breaking and then regaining traction. That's a big tell that this video is fake, how motionless both vehicles are for what they are doing. Plus there is a severe lack of smoke from burning rubber like there would be in real life.
(ETA: in real life the smoke cloud would be so thick it would mostly obscure their rear ends)
(ETA2: Just rewatched it and noticed another problem. When they start they do so with the strap slack and then they yank it hard. You wouldn't start a tug of war like that, it would do damage. You have the one of the 2 vehicles slowly roll forward until all the slack is out of the strap to avoid ripping parts off the vehicles, damaging the frame, etc depending on how the straps are connected to the vehicles.
Which is a 3rd issue, where the hell is that strap attached on those vehicles? It looks like it's wrapped around the Chevelles license plate for fucks sake, and I have no clue where it would be attached on the back of the other vehicle lol)
2
u/Urban_Polar_Bear 8h ago
I’m sure I’ve seen a real video of people doing tug of war and one of the diffs ended up exploding. They didn’t wheel spin, they kind of mini bunny hopped as they gained and lost traction until it became to much.

19
u/Safe2BeFree 9h ago

12
14
u/Mulesam 9h ago
The main thing here is they didn't slowly stretch the line. When the slack comes out it would've snapped immediately. Car people do this and yes it can kill transmissions ive seen it done in person but you can't hard accelerate into an immediate stop without breaking the rope or bending your frame.

u/RGBlowMe 9h ago
They absolutely would, but this is definitely fake. They would not be pulling straight against each other in a sort of subtle tug of war. It'd be a lot more "wiggly" and there'd be a lot more slipping and smoke than you see here. The rope also would start under tension. You risk breaking something when you jerk it taught like that. Also, the crowd is just, well, more of a "people pattern" than actual people. Classic AI tell.
6
u/sunsaz623 9h ago
The crowd in the background is a real life version of crowds in fighting games from the 90’s lol

I don't think the Lamborghini Revuelto would allow that pulling point (tow hook), at least not without modifications.
The outcome would be expected. The - I think Buick GS 455 is much heavier and have better grip at these speeds?
The audience gives me a lot of AI creepy vibes. And at least the audience is sped up?

In addition to the AWD aspect that the other commenter mentioned, I would also say that the tires that are on the Lambo would be far and away grippier than the ones on the Buick.
The Lambo also weighs around 500 lbs more.
And finally, the Lambo would have a lot more power and torque. Unless the Buick had aftermarket improvements.
