Mk7 (2019+) TPS Sysyem - anything in the wheel?

I have a 2024 Jetta sport. I’m considering buying a backup set of wheels and might leave them on for the winter. Is there anything in the wheel itself that works for the tire pressure monitoring system?

Nope.

VW uses the wheel speed sensors to detect if a wheel is spinning more or less than the set speed.

You can change wheels. It can be complicated if you do not have the same size tire all around. Not always but it is possible.

>VW uses the wheel speed sensors

Some models use indirect (ABS) TPM, some models use direct (sensors in wheel) TPM.

Correct. Both systems have been available. In wheel TPMS sensors systems were used in low numbers on 2006 - 2011 model years and all Touareg and Phaeton models. Wheel speed sensor usage became standard in 2012 and became offered as standard equipment on Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle Tiguan and Taos models.
