Leaving a job I quit for being expected to continue to cover for management's inadequacy

(f35) just about had it with the upper management at this company I just quit, and I haven't slept better than I did last night in a long time.

What happened: I was the site lead for a long time, always reliable, always showed up, etc. Then we started having issues with unreliable staff that got brought in, who btw was reccomended by the director of Operations.

I did my due diligence, expressed my concerns, did the write ups, etc. Cut to the problem. That staff calls off and she leaves a 16 hour gap in coverage by doing so. I am already on shift so adding those 2 shifts to my work load would push me to a 32 hour shift with no way to leave the premises (ISP aka clients care plan) nor can I order food (clients mother's house rule). I asked for help from the director of operations as the company doesnt have an operations manager at this time. (Go figure) I will be sending the screenshots of how that interaction went of asked. At that point, I had been told on multiple occasions where there was a significant impromptu staffing gap that I would have to deal with it. I stepped down from the supervisory position.

The next morning I was relieved, bless the staff member that pulled through for me. I made the decision that I would be quitting, effective immediately. The owner of the company reached out attempting to make excuses and gloss over the true reason of why I was immediately resigning, at one point he got off the phone and assumed I'd agreed to stay. No such luck. So I also have screenshots of what was said as some of what was threatened goes against federal law.

I apologize for the last post, it got messed up.

They need better hiring practices for one thing. You left a situation that they apparently weren't going to fix, as they seemed to accept the staffing gap. Good for you.

So rampant in healthcare! There is a competitive biggest martyr competition to the point of compromising care.

Lots of times these stories about people quitting sound like weak and fragile people who need to man up and do the work. This is not one of those cases. This sounds more like abuse than anything else. Well done on leaving. Better luck with the next one!

Thank you. There was consecutive months where I was working 126 hour weeks. If anything, management at that company are weak.

No, they are cheap and exploited you.
Exploit is a pretty harsh word that should be used sparingly. But if your explanation is at all accurate, it applies in this case.

They absolutely are exploiting OP. Most of the companies that provide sitter type coverage charge the families ridiculous rates while underpaying staff. It’s a lose, lose for everyone except the staffing companies.

Most of the best CNA’s work in medical hospitals. Many have their own networks where they work on the side for extra money. Going that route can be a win win for both parties.

Management is clearly lacking but you are not. With toughness and a can do attitude like that finding a better gig where they don't abuse you will be easy.

You have the right to eat. Should have pushed back on the Client's house rules. She got the same rule about you using the bathroom?

She absolutely tried having a problem with staff using the bathroom and i completely shut that down. I left that home in way better working order than I arrived. I facilitated a supply chain implementation for personal supplies for the client, worked to find better solutions with redirecting behaviors, worked with the company and the family to actually get the bathroom in working order, set up timed tasks to increase efficiency with staff and promote a much more stable and routine environment with the client, as she responds the absolute best with strict structure. I do feel awful the client and family are left in this manner, I care deeply for them, but I refuae to be treated that way. Several staff have stepped down immediately or are planning their exit as soon as another place of work is secured.
