my baby kitten got hurt
OK, so if you guys saw my recent post about my new cat, I have some bad news. My other cat hurt her. I had this baby cat in my room locked in my room only letting her out with no other cat was around because I know cats are territorial and will attack her if they see her, but this cat out of all my other seven cats have been has been camping at the door today I went to the kitchen really quick to get some milk for the cat and my other cat of course he was camping the door like always. This is something he always does and he always has been doing ever since the new cat came home and then I just heard loud meowing from my baby cat so of course I saw my cat biting my baby cat paws from under the door. I had the door completely shut for a reason, but he still got to get her under the door because he just picked the right moment. I immediately took him out of the room. I immediately took him out of the house. We're going to give him away to someone else who I hope doesn't have any baby cats because he was a good cat he doesn't behave but he listened sometimes, but I cannot bear to look at him anymore because he hurt my kitten. I do not have any money for a vet. I am a minor. My parents don't have enough money for a vet ether I don't know what I can do in this situation. My mom's boyfriend put gauze on her leg. He bit her leg so hard. You could see the skin, but he like kind of ripped it so it's a little ripped piece on her back leg. I'm pretty sure it's her right leg. Does anyone know what I can do? I'm going to try to convince my mom to bring it to somebody who can at least clean up the spot so it doesn't get infected. She is five weeks old. Do you guys think anything can happen to her I am really worried. I am really anxious. I was always anxious about this cat in the beginning because she was very small but now I'm even more anxious because she's injured now and I don't wanna lose Her because she's just a baby she doesn't know and she deserves to live more than I do right now she's pretty calm and she's not bleeding anymore. She wasn't bleeding a lot in the first place but she's not bleeding anymore right now she's breathing normally I checked she has a normal breathing rate, thankfully and right now she's just sleeping but she's breathing. It's a small part of her foot that got ripped off the skin is still there but it's a little flap so it wasn't fully ripped off but what I'm most concerned about is that if it could get injured or if she's still in pain I don't think necessarily she's still in pain right now because she's peacefully sleeping she just she just stretched. She was also purring a couple minutes ago when I had her on my chest can anyone tell me what I can do to keep this baby alive? I live in Puerto Rico. The vets here are expensive. I'm I don't even know how I have a house. I have enough money, but never enough money for a good amount of groceries. Sometimes we cannot even eat proper meals. I just want my cat to be OK please somebody give advice I'm not asking for money. I'm just asking for a solution that can maybe keep her alive because that's my child and she's a baby. I don't want anything to happen to her and I never wanted this happen. I didn't think my cat would be able to do something on the door was closed. I didn't know a little gap under a door would do a lot thank you for listening. I had to use the voice thing to make this so I'm sorry if there's a lot of mistakes because I cannot type this. I'm crying right now if anybody wants to see her I can show you, but I won't be able to show you her injured leg because it is wrapped up right now and I do not want to take it out yet unless something happens, but I do not wanna take it out for now because she will start crying because when we wrapped her like she was screaming I don't I just want her to be OK. I will check her leg soon, but I don't wanna flap up her skin or anything cause that would just make it worse please somebody please don't take this down. I just I need a solution.

I'm so sorry you are in this position. It's clear you care about cats a lot, but since you're a minor, it's difficult for you to give them the care you know they need. I get it. I was you. My parents were pretty irresponsible with their pets, too. When I moved out at 18, I took them with me to give them the proper care.
I just wanted to let you know I sympathize. It's good that you recognize that they need better care and that you'll surrender this kitten for proper care. Thank you for being a hero to this kitten. You're a good person in a bad situation.

the humane society wont pick up calls and its the only one in this whole island. ill check if theres any other... Im so angry, i dont understand why the wouldnt pick up.

ive been begging my mom, she doesnt want to no matter how much i cry and says she will be okay im trying my best

i also cant beg too much cause my mom has severe anxiety and once i begged her for something and she had a panic attack it isnt good for her and for me either i get really scared i will stoll try to convince her tho we have called 3 places already

If they aren't answering, as you said in other comments, call a different animal rescue. I googled cat rescue Puerto Rico and it came up with a few options. Call all of them. DM them on Instagram. Email.

I can’t add any more than what other people have already said, but one thing is sticking out to me. You said “she deserves to live more than I do.” She deserves treatment and care and a good home, but at the end of the day human life is more valuable than a pet. Please take some time to do what’s right for the kitten but also don’t beat yourself up over it. It’s a learning experience and life will go on for you and the cat.

Do you have rescues there? Everyone tells you to give them to a rescue like it’s that easy. Many countries don’t have accessible rescues and shelters. But it would be great if you could find one.
I would monitor the wound. Keep it clean and dry in the meantime. 🙏 good luck!

theres many vets and ive called 3 but theres only one rescue service but they dont pick up calls.

she's not the owner. she's a child in a situation with fucking shitty parents who are the ones entirely at fault, not her at all. it's them refusing to take her to the vet and them who ended up with 8 cats. this poor kid is trying to do what she can to protect them and is of course freaking out. she's lacking any sense of good guidance from her parents.

Yes!!! I hate this keyboards warriors bashing on people trying to do good things and share what little they have with another living being. I have read already so many saying, "if you don't have money you should not adopt" if people would do that thousands of kitties would be dying of hunger or because weather or even get killed by psychos that like to harm animals. Thank you for defending this minor against entitled adults.

I'm so sorry this happened, that's terrifying. Please try to get the wound looked at even if its just a free clinic or a humane society cat bites get infected fast. For now keep it clean with warm water and a little betadine if you have it, and watch for swelling or redness. Shes sleeping and purring which is a good sign but that doesn't mean shes out of the woods. You're doing your best, shes lucky to have you.

omgg im so lucky i found betadine in the medication cabinet tysm! ill only use a bit until we can brong her to my moms friend who is a vet tomorrow! tysmmm how long do u think it takes to get infected? because i washed it with water but havent use the betadine cuz im waiting for my moms bpyforend to come back to help take it off but i might do it now with my moms help if i should act fast

Dilute the betadine a tiny bit and use a clean cotton tip to dab on and around the wounds. Then rewrap a fresh bandage, do this at least once or twice a day. Start as soon as you can, all the best.
Edit to say keep an eye out for swelling and infection. If that happens she needs antibiotics from a vet who can dose her properly.

yes thats exactly what we did but we didnt wrap it because we dont wanna trap moisture and will do it when the spot is dry

I don’t think some of these people took in the fact that OP is a minor, therefor can’t do much at all without their parents permission.
I understand you fully, OP. I was in that same situation, where I wanted to take animals to a vet (when I was a minor) but it wouldn’t happen, because my parents "wanted to wait and see" first. It’s a horrible situation that can make you feel useless. I hope that everything with the kitten turns out good💚

OP if you can’t get in contact with the rescue (I understand. You can’t drive the cat yourself and it’s pretty unlikely you’ll convince any other adult to drive 4 hours for a cat they don’t know) then see if you have any friends that could take it! She’s very very young but not so much so that somebody with time on their hands can’t bottle feed her and raise her!

I would still suggest finding a friend to give her to because so many cats in one home can be very stressful for a little kitten! If it’s somebody you know, you could even visit her from time to time! It’ll take financial troubles off of your parents’ shoulders too, even if they don’t think they need it to be taken off.

we have foodstamps (idk if thats how its said in eng) so thats why we can buy groceries the rest of the money goes towards the animals and gas money

im giving the kitten away to a rescue/ humane society, i wont keep her anyways so she could be alive. The other cat i want to give him to someone with no other animals so he or any other cats dont get hurt since hes constantly attacking our other cats

My God, what's wrong with you people? She's a MINOR. Berating her because of the eight cats is downright stupid because she's not the one making decisions. Her hands are tied if her parents say "No".
