Do kanken backpacks hold up over the years? I remember when they were super popular a few years ago

Not OP, but yes. I stuff mine full of random things, including a hard case full of medical supplies, and carry it daily. It’s held up really well. I’ve never done anything to it (preventive care-wise), and it barely looks worn. It’s a light-ish color and the waxed canvas has held up. No stress on seams or anything despite yanking zippers and stuffing pockets full.
I’m sure someone will comment with “better” bags, but I’ve easily gotten my $100 out of it and will continue carrying it every day.

Thanks for the review, i always liked the look of them but wanted to be sure they were good quality before I invested in one

I will add to this that they’re good quality, but the larger ones (20l) are not comfortable to carry when filled to capacity, the load isn’t well distributed across the shoulders and the straps aren’t sufficiently padded. Mine‘s been my on board luggage for over 6 years or so, and has held up OK, but I won’t be replacing it when it eventually goes, due to ergonomics.

Ive had this bag for about 12 odd years and its in a good condition still, i agree with filling it to brim with heavy enough things will hurt the shoulders/back a bit. Its great for day to day. Mind you my daughter had the same bag for school when she was 7 and the bag was destroyed by the end of schoolyear.

I guess how it’s used and it’s primary purpose are important when making an assessment for longevity and comfort! I love your knoll all the same, fabulous colour and the choice of background is 👌

When I bought mine, the sales assistant showed me that they have separate padded bag straps that clip on. I love them and they were worth the extra, as I carry my laptop around a bit. They don't have all the colours, so I have a khaki bag with leather handles, but I found one that matches the leather colour so it looks cohesive. Couldn't imagine wearing it with just the thin webbing straps!

The large one with a 17“ laptop pocket has integrated padding on the straps but it’s still rubbish!

I got the extra padding for the straps because they kinda suck if you’re carrying a ton of heavy stuff, but for daily around town, outings with older kids, short-ish walking commutes, it’s continued to serve me well.

Fun fact: when you've got visual snow syndrome, everything you see has this layer of noise/static on it, and it's constantly moving.

How do you use that little envelope-looking pocket? I have something like that but haven't found a great day-to-day use for it yet.

Nice. Do you carry 3 notebooks? Are they for different things?
