None of the major news outlets are reporting it. Probably because poriborton'er prothom pujo defame hoyejaabey bole. The most officials on duty are reporting is a stampede like situation where people got sick due to the crowd. That's all we know for now.

Yes, you should. But instead of receiving half baked news within minutes of the accident, it's better to receive legible info. They have already started to do so.
Instead of jumping to conclusions about politics, we should atleast wait till the actual news comes out. I also came to know about the incident from some of my friends (actual people I know instead of Facebook contacts) through social media posts. So, I am quite sure about the news and the number of people affected.

Bnara, I'm saying you the actual news. My friend is posted in MCK. He just informed me that there are 20+ dead bodies shudhu MCK teyi. I live just 2kms away from Muktaram Babu St, amar ek khhub kacher bondhur didar bari shekhaney. She just informed me je there were a bunch of dead bodies at her doorstep itself. That's the actual story. Whoever you're indirectly defending is showing you the half baked one.

You can be blind and dumb but don't bring that to this table. Tumi baal hoye baachtey chaao, baacho. You can totally ignore my point.
The truth is, Pujo management has been an absolute mess this year. I’ve been travelling through some of Kolkata’s major pujo-centric routes for years, and I’ve never witnessed traffic congestion of this scale, local clubs refusing to cooperate with the police, civic volunteers seemingly clueless about crowd management, and pujo committees with political backing from local MLAs behaving as though they own the city. Chorebagan was bound to happen. None of this is apolitical or random. And none should speak of it apolitically.

Pandals like chorebagan , tala protyoy, suruchi sangha create unnecessary hype before puja and then their management create this unnecessary long queues.
Last year I have seen almost 1 km long queue at tala protyoy.
Mane sudhu sudhu choto choto oli goli diye ghuriye line barabe. Ar jemon bhapsa gorom. Hoyotai savabik.
Sotti amader deshe manusher jiboner kono dam nei.

Tala pratyay man went last year astomi, it was a nightmare, waited in line probably 1.5 hour, had to leave the line mid way.

I agree with your emotion but line will actually be needed to be longer and convoluted like snake shaped to manage the demand. E.g. - have you seen how queue is managed at airport checkin counters. It's common and correct.
But how it is managed here is unfortunate

Now someone will come forward and say it was sabotage and what not and investigation to be done etc etc ...to save face...rather than solve the systemic issues...like better crowd control in these mega events... I am not saying everyone is at fault... Just saying for once no party shud do politics and just try to solve the problem..it's an easy one...unlike unemployment

I was there in the afternoon today. I think the public is equally at fault. There were so many people just pushing other people to rush to see the idol. People were trying to break the line jumping on staircase of different houses. If one walks simply, there wouldn't be an issue I feel. But most people just put their hands on other people shoulders/ back and keep pushing.

I agree. Management would be at fault. But saying public at equal fault as well. If I hadn't gone today, would have blamed management as well. But since I went, I particularly felt this. There was lot of unnecessary pushing..

Okay, ABP just said that 25 people are brought as of now in KMC, among them 10 are dead, remaining people are in very serious condition, with multiple lethal injuries.
Edit: one of my journalist friend said je pandal e naki churanto obyabostha chilo. Police failed miserably to handle the crowd. O ja info peyeche Tate bollo 35-40 jon ke niye jawa hoyeche KMC te.

I was at Deshpriya Park when the rain started. It was stampede like situation for about 10 min when the rain started. Just because its a big park, the load dispersed quicker.

Today in the morning when I saw the centra Avenue road .. it was choked with trucks on both lanes, people congested near the chorbagan pandal lane entrance .. the police were vanished .. only volunteers.. everything was pathetic .. never saw this kind of mismanagement .. took around 1hr just to reach from ram mandir to howrah bridge .. everything was choked .. and I was wondering how can some one be so careless about this shit .. Also saw drunk men .. had a lot of encounters where they raged at me multiple times .. near the entrance of some pandals .. police sitting and watching like fun

Reminds me of the year jokhon 80 feet Durga hoyechilo. Same incident. Ekgada lok stampede hoye gechilo and eventually lost their lives.

Maybe already hoye gechilo, lok e janeni tokhon o. Ek toh etoh bhir, tar moddhe management nei. Plus ei flipkart er VIP pass er jonno VIP lane eo exact same bhir as normal line. Very unfortunate. Saw at tridhara....small children were walking, their parents should have picked them up. Old people, children, regular adults all pushing each other in the crowd.....but didn't hear any such incident, I hope no such comes out of it either.

No manegement a big issue ami nije dekhchi rasta te kono proper rules nei toto auto sob ekhane sekhane parking korche no place for Walk and another thing that people push each other for no reason in pandal lines if I say anything they shout and say foul language this is an issue which is indeed sad I have personally noticed. Bjp or be any party they also tend to ignore a basic thing which is road manegement and strict rules. And people also need to follow this themselves which they clearly lack that is one of the reason this type of accident happens

Puja Committee paid so much money to Influencers for chorebagan and Nalin Sarkar Street the way these two were promoted online. Meanwhile everyone bought flipkart minutes pass but chorebagan puja Committee didn't allow them through VIP line.
