I built a free website for learning Kurdish and I’m looking for Kurds to help build it

Silav,

My name is Sroush. I am from Rojhilat and grew up in Norway. I made a little website (learnkurdishnow.com), a free platform for learning the Kurdish language, beginning with Kurmanji and Sorani.

The project exists to preserve the Kurdish language and Kurdish culture, and to make both accessible to everyone who wishes to learn them, irrespective of where they were born or live. A considerable number of Kurds grow up outside Kurdistan without the opportunity to learn the language or to become familiar with our culture and history. The aim of Learn Kurdish Now is to bring them closer to their heritage, to connect them with Kurds in Kurdistan, and over time to build a community in which Kurds may learn from, support and befriend one another.

The platform currently offers a lesson, a quiz, three articles and a page on Kurdish history. In time, I would like to develop it into a complete platform with a wide range of free resources for learning Kurdish.

The platform is not intended for language learners alone. The articles section is open to any subject, provided it concerns the Kurdish people, Kurdistan or the Kurdish language. That may be culture, food, music, literature, places, personal stories or anything else worth sharing. Writers who wish to publish a piece will find a home for it here, and readers who simply wish to learn more about Kurds and get to know one another are just as welcome. The history section is dedicated to documenting and teaching Kurdish history and the origins of the Kurdish people.

A project of this scope cannot be built by one person, and I am therefore seeking contributors: writers, quiz makers, lesson builders, proofreaders and people with knowledge of Kurdish history. Speakers of every Kurdish dialect are welcome, and a command of Kurdish acquired at home is entirely sufficient. Every contributor is credited by name for the work they provide and receives a personal author page.

Those who wish to take part may apply at learnkurdishnow.com/contribute. Feedback of any kind is also greatly appreciated.

I would also be grateful if you would share this with anyone you believe it may concern. In particular, it may interest people who enjoy writing, who like to take an active part in shared initiatives, or who are building a public profile or pursuing a public-facing career. For them, published work under their own name, together with a visible commitment to Kurdish language and culture, is a meaningful addition to a CV or portfolio. I believe sincerely that they stand to gain as much from this project as it gains from them.

Spas,
Sroush
