Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Fresno,CA Fescue update
I dethathed, core aerated, and the seeded with GCI TTTF. I'm in Fresno CA, and this is after 6 weeks. I have to overseed every year because my dogs will pee in certain spots and it's hard to stay on top of it. I have not done a soil test yet any recommendations of an all-around good fertilizer for this time of the year for my area. I only have about 800 to 900 square, and I do not envy you guys with thousands of square feet, this grass is stuff is not easy but it sure is satisfying.

Unless you have more not pictured, there is no way in hell that is 8-900sq.ft
Looks great though!

Did you fertilize at seeding or will this be the first time applying fertilizer?

No I added a starter fertilizer at seeding, sorry I forgot to put that in the post.

Nice work fellow Fresnan! If you can water enough green lawns aren’t too hard here, so much sunshine.

Yes I water at least twice a week, but when I over seeded it was 3 times a day for 4 min. I was lucky I did not get a letter from the city you know how they can be LOL.

I may or may not water a lot more than that and I’ve never received a letter. I think the main way people get noticed for this is excessive water runoff during the day when they would be out driving around.

I got one before, but It was when I accidentally left the water running overnight watering my sago palm😂😂.

Also in Fresno and just dropped some twin City Tttf resilience 2. Hoping for similar results but I'm fighting with a lot of long existing Bermuda, Crab, and clover mix. I used starter fertilizer, kellogs topper, and tenacity after removing a ton of thatch and scarifying. Used a spike aerator. Did you pay for core aeration or rent a machine?

Yes that Bermuda is so difficult to get under control in our area. I just try to keep the grass super thick to hopefully try to smother it out. And yes I also rented a core aerator from home Depot and it worked out great.

How heavy is the machine and what's the daily cost? I can get a truck but don't have a proper ramp.

Also that was my plan with the Bermuda as well. Just crowd it out with the fescue and keep it long. I know it will never truly be gone especially during the hot summer but maybe it can be managed. I don't mind it when it's cut low but it's just so much upkeep. I picked up some Fusilade II to use in the Spring but I know you have to be careful with it.

Just make sure you're using good quality seed, and have good seed to soil contact. Also I used peatmoss and top soil at different times, but I feel a good quality top soil is better for our area. The soil here in Fresno sucks, it's either too sandy or just like clay. I also use the simple lawn solution feed and sustain with kelp extract and humic acid. Best of luck to you with your grass bro, this Fresno heat is no joke in the summer.

Did you leave the core plugs?
Battling weeds and overseed this weekend up in Brentwood Ca (NorCal). Plan to weed, mow low, weed again and aerate and see how it goes with Resilence II.

As someone in Sac, how the hell did you seed 6 weeks ago? It’s been almost 100 here until last weekend.
Looks great!

These last couple weeks have not been in 100's here it's been in the 90s, but still very hot. Just make sure you use good quality topsoil or at least some peat moss and keep it moist. I made sure I kept my dogs off the grass they were not happy but it had to be done I put a fence around the whole perimeter and had them stay off of it. Also a good or should I say great quality seed is a must. You can buy seeds from anywhere but a lot of them have weed seeds mixed in them, you can get anything to germinate but a good quality seed is always the best bet a little more expensive but better results. Also don't forget your starter fertilizer, in our area we need to use everything we can to try to beat this weather.
