Saskatchewan How to report concern, or request a wellness check on a Canadian from Europe? What can I do in this situation?

story goes:

I am from and in Europe, and I have a friend online who’s from canada and lives in canada. We became friends this year and talked almost every day for a couple months on TikTok messages and snapchat messages and photo / video, a lot of voice messages, and sometimes they went live on TikTok. We didnt exchange phone numbers due to being in different countries. They have been absent from replying like 2-3 days at a time but always come back and say they had a bunch of stuff going on in life, or with other people, or a romantic partner they recently started texting again (I have no name) that they perviously had dated and broken up with. So they were always somewhat online or in contact with someone, just didn’t get back to replying / catching up to all friends immediately.

But more than month ago their contact stopped, and their digital footprint stopped completely on the platforms I know they use, snap score hasn’t moved at all in over a month and TikTok is inactive (no reposts replies as usual) I have sent messages and called on snapchat and TikTok, and I didn’t know how to get in contact otherwise. No active status on snapchat. This person does not have personal information online or uses many social media platforms, they do not have any immediate family is my understanding (dead parents).

Last week I found one of their other online friends, and they also said they had not heard anything, but had their number, called but calls stopped going through as if the phone was turned off, and said other people had asked about their whereabouts as well. This friend showed me messaged between them before they went silent, and after trying to get a response.

This made me abandon my "reassuring thought" of them just hopefully ghosting everyone and I contacted the police in my country, they filed a report and escalated it to the international crime department (or something) so they could send a report to Canadian authorities and hopefully look into their whereabouts / wellness check, they said they would get back to me with an update, but today after a week I called to check up on it and the other department say they didn’t get enough to forward it to the police in canada so they never did.. I asked them to kindly forward my wish to try again (he will try and call me back later today, but said not to get my hopes up)

I have first and middle name, name of the province, phone number, date of birth, and socials. I gave them all of this last week

I understand it might not be enough to go straight to their home, but somewhat narrow it down and check on their whereabouts, check if someone matching their credentials (name, date of birth, phone number) is hospitalised or found something? I tried calling Canadian authorities myself but calls to outside the EU / EEA are blocked and I have to change my phone carrier completely to be able to, I can't even buy calls to outside of the EU, I tried.

Is there some way I can do this myself from Europe, file a report or something, anything? Would canadian authorities look into this with this little information or will they also dismiss it - or do I have to take my own countrys claim that it’s too sparse for an answer? do I have to change my phone carrier to report something to authorities?

Ps: - I am not trying to identify anyone, I dont need more personal information about them than what I have - I dont care if they are ghosting everyone or does not want anything to do with me or other online friends, and I dont need info about their whereabouts, I just need to know someone knows about them and that someone knows if they are okay or not.

Ontario Co-executor on my widowed mom's estate - how many ways can my Maple MAGA police officer brother screw me?

And what can I do to minimize the damage?

Recently widowed mother is getting on in age, and in the next few years my brother and I will have to settle the estate. Total amount will be roughly 6 or 7 million.

The kicker is I'm largely no-contact with him as he's a police officer in Ontario, and has succumbed to the MAGA cult. He's untrustworthy, his first instinct is to lie, and is I don't trust him not to fuck me five ways from Friday.

Before he died, my father urged me to get a lawyer to protect myself when my mother dies and it comes time to settle the estate.

Should I contact a lawyer before my mother dies to get up to speed with what I need to do, or should I wait? What other actions should I take to protect myself?

Thank you!

Alberta What can we do if our mom keeps getting prescribed sleeping pills and antidepressants, and we’re worried she’s no longer making safe decisions?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from people who have been through something similar or who know what options we have.

My family is becoming increasingly concerned about our mom’s health and safety. She is frequently prescribed medications, including sleeping pills and antidepressants. We’re worried that some of these medications may not be necessary, especially because it seems like she can get them by simply asking her doctor for them. On top of that, she also buys over-the-counter sleep aids in liquid form.

My sister has been trying to obtain power of attorney over our mom because we’re concerned about her ability to make safe decisions for herself. However, her doctor believes that she is still capable of making her own decisions, so we’re not sure what else we can do.

Another major concern is that our mom continues to drive even though she has significant difficulty using her legs. Her doctor has apparently documented that she is still capable of driving, despite our concerns about her physical limitations and the potential danger to herself and others.
We’re not trying to take away our mom’s independence unnecessarily, but we’re genuinely worried about her safety, especially with the combination of medications she takes, the additional sleep aids she purchases herself, and her decision to continue driving.

What options do families have in situations like this?

  1. Is there a way to request an independent medical assessment or a second opinion regarding her medication use and decision-making capacity

  2. What can we do if we believe she is taking too many sleeping aids or that her medications could be putting her at risk?

  3. If her doctor believes she is still capable of making her own decisions, are there other legal options available to protect her?

  4. Can a family member report concerns about her driving if they believe her physical condition makes it unsafe, even if her doctor has cleared her to drive?

Any advice or suggestions about where to start would be greatly appreciated. We just want to make sure our mom is safe, but we’re struggling to figure out what we can do when the professionals involved don’t seem to share our concerns.

Alberta Calgary Blackfoot trail

I received a ticket for speeding 70 in a 50 construction zone with workers present on the 1300 block of blackfoot trail and the photo shows my car going under the bridge just south of crossroads market with a small grass median and two lanes going each direction. That day I drove from the zoo parking lot down towards crossroads market and went right and then around the roundabout with the train tracks on it to join onto blackfoot. When I started putting it together and after disclosing the information I am still confused with how I was caught speeding going under a bridge I didn't drive under. The bridge is undergoing construction so it may look different than on google maps but the prosecutor I was in contact with also did not know where the photo was taken. (after disclosing the information I still had to ask for extra info on the location so I could be sure it was the right bridge) I would never speed in a construction zone, I worked for a construction company for almost a year and I'm not dumb enough to risk getting a doubled ticket.

Ontario Subpoenaed but mentally unwell

I have been subpoenaed to appear at my exes trial and his charges are domestic assault and threats. Since this came up my mental health has taken a severe nosedive. Im suicidal, broke my sobriety, Im falling apart. Im a single parent in school full time and working full time so this is having a severe impact on my life and I’m struggling. Im meeting the crown attorneys assistant this week and what are the chances I can request to not appear. It will finish me off having to go through it all again in court (I already have been given permission to appear on video) but even that is too much. I am worried I am not going to make it through. Will they take this seriously? What can I do? Does anyone have any insight into this kind of situation? If needed i could have my therapist write out something.

British Columbia Accidentally dine and dashed at a Bar

So my friend and I went to this bar late at night. We both had been drinking and were drunk, we walked out and forgot to pay the bill. I already emailed the restaurant detailing what I ordered and my friend as well. I offered to pay in full. It’s been a day and they haven’t responded yet.

I feel awful 😭 am I going to get prosecuted or something?! I’m a university student and I’ve never stolen anything or have a criminal record.

For context: I’ve been to this bar maybe like 10 times this year and I always pay. I’ve had issues with my card before but I always go to an atm nearby and come back.

Ontario Credit card debt while in prison on remand - and relief from interest?

• Upvotes

A friend of mine has had a severe mental breakdown. This resulted in him acting in a way that could be construed as criminal - were he not too ill to know the difference between right and wrong.

At the moment he is on remand - awaiting medical evaluation from doctors in an Ontario health centre - this keeps being delayed (he has been inside for 3 months now - in GenPop on remand) for one reason after another, none of which are down to him.

Unfortunately he has a huge amount outstanding on a credit card (many, many, tens of thousands) at 20% interest - this is sitting there unpaid. He has no access to banking and is too confused to appoint a lawyer (but because he hasn't been evaluated yet - delays) and the court hasn't appointed one for him.

Is there anything that we can do? can we get at least the interest put on hold? What happens if they take him to court for the debt?

British Columbia Someone sent an invoice for a gun purchase to my Google Drive

I have no idea what to think of this. The Google Drive notification has their name and email they used for purchase, which was through paypal. The only item is a 9mm pistol handgun purchased by NOVA armory USA. My email is (myname)@(mybusinessdomain).io, so it wasn't an accident. Should I do anything about this? This has left me pretty confused and somewhat concerned.

I'd like to write it off as a phishing attempt but this is a weird one.

Ontario Husband wants a postnup, but I’m uncomfortable combining finances if we’re keeping assets separate

My husband and I have been together for nine years and married for almost one year. We’re currently not living together, but he’ll be moving into my home. He wants a postnuptial agreement.

Here’s our financial situation:

My husband:
Income: $15,000/month
Debt: $45,000 line of credit at 10%
Property 1: worth $620,000, with $80,000 equity
Property 2: worth $700,000, with $130,000 equity
TFSA/RRSP: $130,000
Money left after expenses: $3,000/month

Me:
Income: $10,000/month
Debt: $25,000 loan at 0%
Property: worth $1,475,000, with $800,000 equity
TFSA/RRSP: $20,000
Money left after expenses: $6,000/month

He’ll be moving into my property, and I’m comfortable with it becoming our matrimonial home, even though I’m bringing significantly more home equity into the marriage.

I’m also willing to help pay off his debt and max out his TFSA and RRSP before focusing on my own debt and investments. His investments already have a larger balance, so my thinking was to prioritize building those while treating our finances as a team.

However, I’m only comfortable with that approach if we don’t have a postnup keeping everything separate. Otherwise, I’d be using more of my available money to pay his debt and build investments in his name while delaying my own savings.

If we’re keeping our finances separate, I’d prefer to manage our own debts and investments and split shared expenses 50/50.

Has anyone navigated something similar? How did you balance a postnup with contributing fairly and building wealth together?

Ontario Is this valid reason for tenant eviction?

I (probably shouldn’t have) told my landlord to fuck off while calling her a bitch, and she said she’s going to contact her distract manager and look into evictions. My question is, does she have reasonable grounds?

I know it’s something I shouldn’t have done, but I mean, it’s not actually illegal to call someone a bitch or tell them to fuck off as far as I know.

Alberta Common-law-partner rights

I have a question concerning what a common-law-partner (of 10 years) would or would not inherit should something happen to my partner without a will in place and without a cohabitation agreement. Am I legally entitled to any of his assets. We do not have any children together however he raised his ex-wife’s daughter who he considers as his own. If there is no will, would this ex step-daughter automatically be entitled to anything?

Ontario Coworker recorded conversation

Today at work an abrasive coworker came to confront me about an error I made. When someone is aggressive and in my face I go into "fight or flight" and I can't think of answers to questions. I told her I understood and that the conversation needed to end. She then told me that she was recording the conversation.

I know I didn't say anything terrible but I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. It's disconcerting that she felt she could just record me without my knowledge.

What can I do?

Ontario Has anyone ever experienced wsib witholding your digital case file for over a year including at ipc where they appealed it on the basis of vexatious rumors, how is that even possible as a legal argument at the privacy commission, is there any legal recourse here

As the title suggests, is their any legal recourse for this type of egregious response by wsib administration on the blocking of my digital case files in this case been sent to me, on my written requests as a self representative apparently wsib has now withdrawn the written and manufactured ipc complaints due to the fact who in their right mind would think that the person who's wsib file is in question is making vexatious rumors against themselves is ridiculous and was made in writing by wsib administration and privacy officers but now withdrawn according to ipc, the case is now closed according to ipc, apparently they publish this somewhere, anyone here know where plus any thoughts and feelings would be appreciated

British Columbia Employer promised a bonus in my job offer and then termination letter, now they deny it with a “rating.” Can they legally give a retroactive performance rating to deny a bonus explicitly promised in a signed termination letter? Missed the ESA deadline by 20 days—what are my options?

TL:DR Laid off by employer without cause. Termination letter explicitly promised a FY2026 bonus. Exact wording in termination letter “You will be eligible to receive your Fiscal Year 2026 Short Term Incentive Bonus. The payment will be
calculated and forwarded to you when the information has been processed at the time of incentive payout in July 2026.
You will be eligible to receive your Fiscal Year 2027 short term incentive bonus on a pro-rated basis (April
1, 2026 – May 7, 2026). The payment pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Incentive Plan. The payment will be calculated and forwarded to you when the information has been processed at the time of incentive payout in July 2027. Both payments are pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Incentive Plan”

They didn't pay it, and HR now claims I got a "rating" that makes me ineligible, but refuses to provide proof. However, I just realized the 6-month BC Employment Standards (ESA) deadline passed 20 days ago (Sept 26). What can I do now?

The Details:
• Timeline: Worked in Vancouver BC from August 2019 to September 2025 as front store employee. Promoted to Assistant Store manager (Whistler BC) from Sept 2025 to March 2026. Terminated without cause (March 26, 2026)(paid in lieu to May 2026).
• The Promise: My termination letter explicitly stated: "You will be eligible to receive your Fiscal Year 2026 Short Term Incentive Bonus... paid in July 2026. based on conditions of the bonus plan" but no plan was shared with me at the start of this position.
• The Issue: July 2026 passed with no payment. When I followed up, HR claimed I am ineligible due to a "performance rating."
Their words: “With respect to your FY2026 rating, the Company followed its established year-end process in determining and applying your performance rating. As previously advised, based on that rating, you were not eligible for an FY2026 STIP payout.
• The Runaround: I asked for the rating document, the date it was assigned, and the specific Plan terms allowing a 0% payout. HR dodged, saying the Plan was on ADP (which I can't access anymore) and that they followed their "year-end process." They provided zero proof of this rating and never warned me about performance issues while employed. They certainly gave this rating after termination in March 2026 because their fiscal year ends March and this rating was never discussed with me during my time there.
My Questions:
1. Since the 6-month ESA deadline passed by 20 days, can I still request an extension from the Director? Has anyone had success doing this?
2. If ESA won't take it, is this a strong case for BC Small Claims Court (Civil Resolution Tribunal)? The 2-year limitation period should still apply, right?
3. Can an employer legally invent a retroactive performance rating to deny a bonus explicitly promised in a signed termination letter?
Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated!

Alberta Request for Initial Legal Assessment – Alberta Child Support Order and Arrears / Recipient Residing in the Philippines

I was legally married in the Philippines in 2007. Our divorce judgment was granted by the Court of King's Bench. I am writing to request an initial legal assessment regarding an Alberta child support order issued in my divorce proceedings in 2015. I currently reside in the Philippines, while my former husband resides in Alberta, Canada.

Due to the international nature of this matter and my limited financial resources, I am seeking guidance on whether there is a viable legal route to enforce the existing order and pursue unpaid child support under Alberta law. I would be grateful if your office could consider an initial consultation, pro bono assistance, or a limited-scope legal service.

Background

My former husband and I were legally married in the Philippines in 2007. Our divorce judgment was issued by the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in Edmonton on November 23, 2015.

Under the judgment, my former husband was ordered to pay child support of CAD $258 per month, commencing October 1, 2015. The order also requires him to provide his annual income tax returns and Notices of Assessment or reassessments, for as long as our son qualifies as a child of the marriage under the Divorce Act.

I have retained the original signed judgment and the court file number. However, I did not personally receive the original divorce application or petition, nor was I aware of the proceedings before the divorce judgment was issued. The final judgment was later handed to me in the Philippines by my former father-in-law, without the original application or any accompanying explanation. To my knowledge, I have not received notice of any subsequent court order varying, suspending, or terminating the child support obligation.

Given these circumstances, I would appreciate your advice on the current status and enforceability of the order, including whether the circumstances surrounding service of the original divorce proceedings could affect any enforcement action.

Payment History

My former husband did not provide regular support from October 2015 through May 2016. From June 2016 through March 2017, I received deposits of PHP 10,000 per month in my Philippine bank account. I suspect these may have been payments from him, but I cannot yet confirm their source. I still have the old bank passbook, although the account is now dormant or closed.

Since April 2017, I have not received regular monthly payments under the original order.

Beginning around 2023, my former husband resumed providing financial assistance through his mother, primarily for our son’s college tuition, which is approximately PHP 39,900 per semester and paid in installments. Our son also receives approximately PHP 1,600 per month for transportation. There was no agreement that these payments would replace or reduce the monthly child support required by the order.

Our son is now 19 years old and enrolled full-time in his second year of college, with approximately two years remaining before expected graduation.

Steps Already Taken

I contacted Alberta’s Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) to ask about registering the order and pursuing the outstanding support. My inquiry was reviewed by a supervisor in the Registrations Unit and forwarded to the Manager of the Registrations Unit. I was ultimately advised that MEP could not register my file and that I would need to seek assistance through the Philippine courts.

I understand that this may relate to the absence of an applicable reciprocal enforcement arrangement between Alberta and the Philippines. However, I would like to determine whether any alternative procedure may be available under Alberta law.

I am also seeking advice from Philippine legal professionals regarding the possible recognition and enforcement of the Alberta judgment under Philippine law, including the procedure addressed in OCA Circular No. 70-2021.

Questions I Would Appreciate Your Advice On

  1. Does the November 23, 2015 order remain enforceable under Alberta law, and how can I verify whether any later orders changed or terminated it?
  2. Can I pursue unpaid child support under the existing order despite living in the Philippines and MEP’s refusal to register my file? Is there a direct court application or another appropriate procedure available to me?
  3. What limitation periods, statutory provisions, or other legal obstacles could affect the recovery of arrears dating back to 2015? Would the answer differ depending on the period in which the amounts became due?
  4. Could the payments made toward tuition and transportation since approximately 2023 be credited against the monthly support obligation, given that there was no agreement that these payments would replace the ordered support?
  5. What effect, if any, could the circumstances surrounding service of the original divorce application have on the order or its enforcement? Should I obtain the complete court file, including the application, proof of service, and any subsequent orders, before taking further steps?
  6. Is continued support potentially available under Alberta law while our son remains a full-time college student, and would a separate application or review be required?
  7. If MEP cannot enforce the order directly, what other Alberta court procedures or lawful collection options, if any, could be available against a payor who resides in Alberta?
  8. Can I participate in any necessary Alberta proceedings while residing in the Philippines, and would I need to appoint an Alberta lawyer or representative?
  9. What would an initial assessment, court-file review, or limited-scope service cost? Does your office offer pro bono assistance, reduced fees, or payment arrangements for applicants with limited financial means?

My Objective

At this stage, I am not seeking a recalculation or increase in the monthly support amount. My objective is to establish whether the existing order remains enforceable, determine whether arrears can still be pursued, and understand the available options for continued support while our son completes his education.

I understand that the outcome cannot be guaranteed and that the cross-border circumstances may create legal and practical difficulties. I am seeking an honest assessment of the available options before committing to potentially costly proceedings.

I can provide the signed judgment, MEP correspondence, available bank records, payment history, proof of our son’s college enrollment, and other relevant documents for your review.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I would sincerely appreciate any initial guidance, consultation, or referral to an appropriate lawyer or legal assistance program.

Canada Would selling Pokemon-style Drug Trading Cards be legal in Canada

I'm considering starting a business selling collectible trading cards featuring drugs such as LSD, cocaine, cannabis, ketamine, etc.

The cards would feature actual photographs of the substances, names, classifications, and some pharmacological information.

The main appeal would be collecting them, similar to Pokémon cards. They would be sold in randomized booster packs with different rarity tiers (Common, Rare, Legendary, etc.), including holographic and special-edition cards.

No actual drugs would be sold, and the product would be marketed toward adults.

My concern is whether the collectible format itself could violate Canadian laws relating to drug promotion, particularly because of the flashy designs and booster-pack system.

Would this generally be legal to manufacture, advertise, and sell in Canada? What specific laws should I investigate before investing money into the business?

British Columbia When I get married, can I "assume" my own second last name back to my legal name?

Background: I was born in Latin America, where we get two last names at birth (shown in my birth certificate). I became a U.S. citizen as a minor, and my parents only included my first last name as my American legal name. I retained my Latin American citizenship and regularly update my passport and national ID, which still show both of my last names. I moved to Canada two years ago; I am not a permanent resident nor a citizen. My work permit was based on my U.S. citizenship, and therefore my legal name in Canada (in my driver's license, health insurance, lease, etc.) only shows one name.

I'm getting married in BC to a U.S. citizen next year. If it matters, we are a same-sex couple. I won't be taking my partner's last name (not a thing in my culture), but I see that I can "assume" a name when I get married pretty easily, so I'd like to finally correct my name.

Questions:

  • B.C.'s requirements for assuming a name say I can assume my own birth name. Would that point allow for adding my own second last name at birth to my current legal name?
  • The same site says I may likely need to show my birth certificate to change my name at various institutions. How would this process work given the discrepancy between my birth name and my legal name?

Quebec Landlord refused my lease transfer without disclosing the reason. Is my lease legally terminated?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently renting an apartment in Quebec and have been trying to transfer my lease because of ongoing issues with the apartment and my health.

Here's what happened:

  • October 14, 2026: I submitted an official lease assignment notice (TAL-802) to my landlord, including the candidate's full name, complete address, and the proposed transfer date of October 18. The candidate wanted to move in as soon as possible.
  • October 19: My landlord informed me that the candidate had been rejected following a credit check, without providing any specific reason.
  • I explicitly asked the landlord to explain the reason for the refusal.
  • The landlord replied in writing: "Unfortunately, we cannot disclose the reason why the application was rejected because it involves personal information."
  • The candidate told me that he didn't believe there was any reasonable justification for the refusal and that he had very good rental references.

We had only submitted the official assignment notice to the landlord. We had not signed a separate lease assignment agreement.

My main concern is the legal consequence of this refusal.

Under article 1871 of the Quebec Civil Code, a landlord must communicate the reasons for refusing a lease assignment within 15 days of receiving the notice. Otherwise, they are deemed to have consented to the assignment.

Under article 1978.2, if a landlord refuses an assignment for a reason other than a serious one, the lease is terminated on the date indicated in the notice.

My questions are:

  1. If the landlord continues refusing to disclose the reasons after the 15-day period, does article 1871 apply?
  2. Can I request termination of my lease under article 1978.2 if the landlord never provides a serious reason?
  3. Does the fact that the proposed transfer date was only four days after I submitted the notice affect its validity, even though the candidate wanted to move in immediately?
  4. Has anyone experienced a similar refusal and successfully obtained a lease termination through the TAL?

I want to know whether the landlord's refusal can legally release me from my current lease, rather than simply being told to find another candidate.

Any experiences, TAL decisions, or advice from people familiar with Quebec tenancy law would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Ontario Does this count as “working” on a sick day?

Our boss sent this message below in our “staff” chat. I work at a Physiotherapy clinic in Ontario. Is this legal to ask to do on your day off, as well as instructing other staff (admin/support staff) to contact via text for plans for patients? This can be for 14-20 patients on the schedule.

——

“Reminder:  If you are off sick, it is your responsibility to sign in and look at your schedule and provide instruction to our admin staff for each pt. booked under your name for the day.  This is the only way we can properly manage everyone and ensure we are not booking people in the gym who don't have a plan, etc.  Thank you all for your cooperation on this!”

Alberta Appointing a minor aged beneficiary for my workplace benefits (SunLife)

Hello,

I just activated my benefits at my new job and decided I would like to appoint my ex’s minor-aged daughter as a backup beneficiary should by mother pass (mom is listed as 100%, but if she dies, my step daughter will be the backup. She was my step daughter for several years and I still consider her as such though her father and I are not a couple anymore).

When I entered her DOB and checked off that she’s a minor, the website gave me a blurb about how this might not be legal. However it also asked me for a Trustee for her, which I named as my sister. (I do not trust either of my step-daughter’s bio parents to handle this money appropriately).

Is there anything I need to worry about or do ahead of time in case my benefits do need to be paid out to my 10 year old step daughter via my sister as a trustee? Thank you.

Ontario Condo Reserve Fund - Major Repair

ONTARIO - I'm going to keep this relatively brief but haven't been able to find a reasonable response to the issues we're facing as a condo corp. These are generalized summaries.

- condo community is 6 years old - stacked townhouses of 30 units. 5 units have large rooftop terraces.

- Summer 2024 - the builder was resolving was water infiltration issues - something about ice damming at the drains on the terraces - that summer he 'resolved' the issue by installing a waterproofing membrane and also decking tiles. I don't have the details and neither does the property management as this was commissioned and completed by the builder (this is important).

- Spring 2026 - we start getting reports of water infiltration from the terraces. we commence an investigation ($$$).

- Summer 2026 - investigation reveals the issue is more serious than just a small leak. The membrane and decking tiles were incompatible and water is getting in. Likely not warrantable.

- Fall 2026 - The terraces need to be redone ($$$$$$$$)

- We have asked the builder for documentation on what work was done in 2024. after sending the investigation report from the engineer - the builder has gone silent.

- we have to fix these issues. it will effectively decimate our reserve fund. This is scary as a relatively new community that should not have anticipated major repairs at this point in the game.
Because this would not have come up in the performance audit in year 2, it is unclear whether TARION will help. We suspect that no, they will not.

As a board member and owner, I am horrified and terrified.

Insights appreciated. As always, kindness please.

British Columbia I’m not getting any information about my strata selling to a developer

I own a condo in a building that got the 80% to try and sell the building. I don’t know what information the others are getting. My condo got fully renovated by the previous owners so I bought it at a price that is more than the others could sell their for. My strata president seems to have anger issues with the previous owner and I guess I adopted them. He is also out of work for years and just can’t afford the work that needs to be done to the building

If I’m not getting to know if there is an offer from a developer and they accept it what can I do? I’m assuming they won’t let me know when the court date is to fight it. I could end up with no home and still owe a mortgage if they take something low enough

It’s been hell living here. I already have something I’m going through the CRT for with them. A lawyer makes no sense if I don’t know what I’m supposed to know. It would be just tossing out more money. Everyone makes money off me till I just can’t keep going to the next day.

Ontario Emergency child custody

I was informed by my autistic daughter she was SA'ed multiple times by her stepfather. Her mother is not taking the accusations seriously and quite frankly I dont believe the CAS is either.

There is an open investigation with the police. However becuase of my daughters autism the investigation has been slow.

My daughter is supposed to be at the abusers house half the week but I have been having her all week. She is scared to go to her moms house and they been trying to pick her up from school.

I need to some how submit paperwork without a lawyer that I dont fully understand. Legal aid process will take way to long. Os there services of any sort that can help with this predicament?

Ontario [Ontario] Received two HTA tickets for speeding and driving with an expired G2. Early resolution meeting on Nov 2. Looking for advice.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding two traffic tickets I received in Mississauga, Ontario, on September 11, 2026. I’ve never dealt with anything like this before, and I’m trying to understand my options and how best to approach my upcoming early-resolution meeting.

Here’s the situation:

I was pulled over on September 11 and issued two tickets under the Highway Traffic Act:

  1. Speeding: 69 km/h in a posted 40 km/h Community Safety Zone (29 km/h over), under HTA s.128. Fine of approximately $120.

  2. Driving without a licence: HTA s.32(1), with a fine of approximately $325.

The total fines are approximately $445.

Regarding my G2 licence:

My G2 originally expired on August 8, 2026. I had received a temporary extension until September 8, but I genuinely misunderstood the expiry date and believed the extension was valid until October 8.

Unfortunately, I was pulled over on September 11, just three days after the extension had actually expired.
I understand that misunderstanding the expiry date doesn’t change the fact that I was technically driving without a valid licence. However, I had previously held a G2 and had been granted an extension, so this wasn’t a situation where I had never been licensed.

I’m currently working on getting my licence reinstated. I plan to complete my written knowledge test this week and restart the licensing process as required. I haven’t completed that process yet.

Where things stand now:
I selected Option 2 (Early Resolution) for my tickets and have received an official notice scheduling my meeting with the prosecutor for November 2, 2026.
I’m not entirely sure what to expect during this meeting, what kinds of resolutions may be available, or whether I should consult a traffic lawyer or licensed paralegal beforehand.

I’m particularly concerned about the consequences for my driving record, insurance premiums, and future licensing, rather than just the financial penalties.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving an expired G2, particularly where the licence had only recently expired?

  2. What should I realistically expect at an early-resolution meeting with the prosecutor in Mississauga?

  3. Is there a possibility of having either charge reduced, amended, or withdrawn, given the circumstances? I understand nothing is guaranteed.

  4. Would obtaining my G1 again before the meeting make any difference in demonstrating that I’ve taken steps to correct the situation?

  5. What are the potential demerit-point, insurance, and licensing implications of these two charges?

  6. Would you recommend hiring a licensed paralegal or traffic lawyer for something like this, or is it reasonable to attend early resolution independently?

  7. If the prosecutor offers a reduced fine but the conviction remains on my record, is that generally worth accepting, or should I consider requesting a trial?

I’m fully aware that I should have verified my licence’s expiry date more carefully, and I take responsibility for that oversight. I’m not trying to avoid accountability. I just want to understand my options and make an informed decision before agreeing to anything that could affect my driving record long-term.

I’d really appreciate any advice, particularly from people who have dealt with Ontario provincial offences, early-resolution meetings, or expired G2 licences.

Thank you in advance.
