question Need recommendations

If you wanted to build a reliable, budget AR, what parts would you purchase for yourself?
I'm open to lots of different options -- full length, SBR, different calibers, suppressed like a pin/weld, or suppressor-capable.
I already own a .300Blk with a pinned/welded suppressor and a 5.56 NATO with a 16" barrel.
I have .300BLK, 5.56 NATO rifles and 9mm and .45ACP pistols. I would consider another caliber, but would prefer to stick to what I've already got.

The main goal here is to build a safe, useful, and legal firearm. I live in a state with no state-level restrictions.

What would you recommend for either parts or a parts list within a reasonable budget (say, $800-$1,000 not including suppressor)?

I've never built an AR before so any tool recommendations would also be appreciated. I have various punches, torque wrenches, a torque screwdriver, a couple mallets, etc. but no AR-specific tools, so recommendations on that score would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

I’ve liked this company for parts and customization. Reasonably priced and you can put anything you want together, or buy completed parts and just snap it together.

What are you wanting that’s different? I feel pretty well covered by my 300 blk and 16” ar.

As much as anything, the experience of having built one.

Gotcha, nice.

I originally was going to build mine from parts from here, but I was too impatient and didn’t want to buy the armorers wrench and receiver block to do it right so I picked everything and had them install the barrel and build the lower and cerakote.

You can buy everything separately here and get as custom as you want. Down to screws, pins and detents.

Broski I built my first AR from this kit + and Anderson lower

Needed a castle nut wrench but everything else was used from my standard toolbox. Gun has been 100% reliable since 2020 I shit you not. I just got a can for it this week, I’ll pick it up next week and try it out. I know some people here hate PSA but this kit has been great to me.

What about an AR-9 pistol build? You've already got the 3 main rifle calibers, so you could do a pistol caliber, add a Law Tactical folding adapter and have something very compact.

That defeats the purpose of a build, skid.

True, my bad. It’s hard for me to not Extar around when it’s such a fucking awesome budget gun that shoots like a +$1k gun.

That's something I'm considering. Also, can you make an AR-45, I guess?
