Free market capitalism vs heavy state regulation on full display.

-32

u/DANGER-RANGER- 1d ago

Lol that's funny, if we have such a free car market explain why the Toyota Hilux champ, UAZ 452/469, anything chinese are not legal in the us.

We don't have a free market, we have a differently regulated market.

36

u/Imaginary_Zone_4319 1d ago

We have free market capitalism. China doesn’t partake in free market capitalism - they partake in mercantilism with heavy state sponsored subsidies. Mercantilism isn’t free market, and is very detrimental to free market capitalism. So we highly tariff them and put up barriers to them attempting to ruin their markets.

The EU is doing the same exact thing at this very moment.

u/Old_Advantage4795 1d ago

Still, there are lots of rules and regulations that are bullshir.  Like the one that keeps new small pickups out of US

-12

u/vfrflying 1d ago

You’re getting down voted by people who have yet to realize this is the truth. Car guys know the ins and outs of these arguments but the same people that are screaming America free! Are clueless to the actual bullshit regulations that don’t make any sense at all.

u/DANGER-RANGER- 18h ago

Yeah as a car enthusiast I have wanted the Toyota hilux champ in the US for a while, I think it'd be an enormous success but it's illegal. I'd also like some of the UAZ 400 series cars because I really like how they really haven't changed since the 90s but they are also illegal here. While I'm not really interested on anything Chinese I think they should allow them to be sold here as we preach "free market" but restrict a lot of things that might make ford and GM rethink making a base model F150 $40k.

Buddy, you're not gonna be able to afford the rocket car. I hate to break this to you.

u/PileofTerdFarts 21h ago

Does the European car's horn say "ALLAHU ACKBAR!" when you honk it?

26

u/smakusdod BASED Banned for logic 1d ago

Looks kinda like the Little Tikes car toy to me.

5

u/ExoGeni-VI 1d ago

Honestly? It looks kinda cute lmao. Like a new Volkswagen Bug replacement. Prolly has shit range though. Like under a 100 miles 😂

3

u/Breakpoint 16h ago

looks like a cartoon

1

u/epitimisi 9h ago

This is obviously a reboot of the legendary 2CV.

A car that literally anyone in Europe will recognize

1

u/italianintrovert86 1d ago

Real ahah, though in all fairness apart from that shit the Alfa Cuorerosso was presented as well; it doesn’t fly but looks really good

-45

u/Omerta08266 1d ago

All for america first. But… the Tesla will never actually see a real road…

18

u/BottomContributor 1d ago

It will. They already said that the rocket and crazy stuff like that will be invitation only. That means they'll produce just a select few for the richest people to keep as collector items for 1/2 million or more. You'll get a standard sports car for the general public

6

u/Rehcraeser 1d ago

The flying one won’t be road legal but the one with rockets in the back will be

-58

u/MostPutridSmell 1d ago

Don't get me wrong, whatever the red thing on the right is looks really lame but I assume it's at least functional. Nobody is going to buy a car that costs like a yacht, does backflips in the air, and runs on jet fuel.

I wish everybody would stop with the AI and self driving cars and just invent teleportation already.

44

u/Fine_Crazy2342 1d ago

Stop dreaming, stop innovating

-34

u/MostPutridSmell 1d ago

I literally ended my post with a demand for them to invent teleportation. Im not against innovation or dreaming, I'm saying making toys the majority of people are not going to see in their lifetime let alone buy seems like a bad direction.

3

u/Senior_Section_423 1d ago

So then you also think that Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, McLaren and all the other hyper-cars are going in the wrong direction? I’m sorry, you’re kinda lame there. It is innovation like that, that brings lots of cool stuff to regular people. Oh, and cost? I heard this new Tesla will be priced at $250,000. That is CHEAPER than all those other hyper cars, and it is faster.

3

u/BraxTaplock 1d ago

That’s where the perception is wrong. Innovation brings advancement where eventually everyone benefits thru larger implementation following technology perfection. All your standard stuff today…wasn’t standard 40yrs ago.

In 1978 Mercedes Benz cooperated with Bosch to produce the world’s first production ready electronic 4 wheel multi channel anti lock brake system. That was the innovation that made today’s modern ABS systems practical.

u/Free-Computer-6515 1d ago

Hey! You are one of the guys from the wright brothers comic posted to this sub earlier today! Are you pink hat guy or beard and man bun guy?

16

u/mrcarefreeattitude 1d ago

I would be impressed if the red car drives on air other then that it really is lame and there is nothing to see except what elon did there.

32

u/Djghost1133 BASED Sheriff of Rottingham 1d ago

The standard version doesn't do backflips, and why the hell would it use jet fuel? It uses compressed air. Innovation is a hell of a thing

-20

u/MostPutridSmell 1d ago

I was being hyperbolic

16

u/BrokenArrow1283 1d ago

Welp, pack it up. I guess Elon has it all wrong, huh? lol

18

u/Career_Cultivator 1d ago

LAME is an understatement lol.

3

u/HurrySpecial 1d ago

You are defending a shitty euro-trash car over a back flipping flying car. 10 bucks say your opinions come purely from your hate of Elon Musk for switching parties.

1

u/Old_Advantage4795 1d ago

Give me the replicators.  To hell with teleportation!

1

u/Breakpoint 16h ago

Using Google could have prevented this post

-74

u/SrslyChausie 1d ago

Ah well, we common people here in Europe got reasonably affordable healthcare.

35

u/Netflixandmeal 1d ago

Oh, that’s paid for by the car manufacturer? cause this post seems to be based on innovation not the shitty healthcare systems we both have.

In the USA you can get top notch and it costs you out the ass or in Europe you just stay on the waiting list until you die which is beside the point because we’re talking about car tech here.

Because my taxes pay for it by offsetting the cost of your defense which you rely on us for. The only thing keeping Vlad from steamrolling over all of you is The United States. But sleep well under your mountain of plushies while you dream of your socialist utopia.

22

u/preferred-til-newops 1d ago

Yet the wealthy in Europe travel to the US for better care, I wonder why Mick Jagger traveled to the US for his heart surgery?!?

7

u/Top_Mongoose1354 1d ago

"Reasonable" <- I had to wait 7 YEARS to get my specialist appointment for a debilitating chronic disease (I'm nowadays classified as "severely physically handicapped")
"Affordable" <- My tax rate is around 75%. Thanks, socialism.

48

u/Snedhunterz 1d ago

You also outsource defense of your continent to the US.

Healthcare is cheap when you don’t need to pay to defend yourselves.

5

u/HurrySpecial 1d ago

No. You get to pay taxes for bottom quality healthcare you may not receive in meaningful time.

In America you can choose exactly the price and benefits you want. This is freedom and you will never taste it. Enjoy paying for someone else’s broken arm.

6

u/Senior_Section_423 1d ago

Kinda. More like somewhat affordable sub-standard healthcare for the masses, while you’re taxed the shit out of and your rich people go to private clinics and the US for superior healthcare.

6

u/Old_Advantage4795 1d ago

And state sponsored invasion to go with it!  I'll pass....

5

u/BraxTaplock 1d ago edited 1d ago

Affordable healthcare, but unaffordable defense capability. Precisely why the whole of Europe widely relies on the US if not for financial backing but support and capability. Your welcome.

Edit : let’s also keep in mind that China and maybe Russia would just get all cheery if the US decided to pull out of European defense. Best of luck to ya. You’re gonna need that affordable healthcare.

2

u/intrepidone66 BASED 18h ago edited 18h ago

Taxes are a thing though. You are also paying for people that shouldn't be there in the 1st place.

My insurance is ~$150 a month, with a $2000 deductible. I had 2 procedures done this year and it cost me my deductible, the rest got paid by my insurance. Oh, and the clinics where going out their way to get me in within a week. I actually had to reschedule because I had a project I wanted to finish before going under the knife.

I remember paying way more than that when I lived in Europe.

1

u/jcxc_2 7h ago

Just don’t get sick

2

u/Yarklik 4h ago

Which European country are you from? My country's "Free Healthcare" has me waiting around 24h for urgent care, and over a year for a medical appointment if I'm lucky (provided they don't delay it for another another year), and I still get a bill in my mailbox to pay for the "free healthcare". I'm better off having a health insurance and going to private hospitals. So basically, I'm paying for both but only use one of them. The difference is I can't choose to not pay for everyone's healthcare, because I'll go to jail. The wonders of socialism
