I really missed a good Sticky Notes App for KDE Plasma, so I created "Sticky Notes".

Post image

All the "Sticky Notes" I've tried were optimized mostly for Gnome. The Plasma Notes Widget is not what I was looking for (no formatting, no images, you need lot of clicks to add a note).

So, this is my idea of a Sticky Notes app (Very much based on "Simple Sticky Notes" for Windows that I use daily in my work PC)

Optimized for KDE Plasma (Qt6, Wayland only).
If you want to try it out, it's 100% free. Let me know!

How about a 3D 300 KB Linux demo that fits on an SD disk?

Thumbnail

City Flight is an endless flight through a procedurally generated city at night: street canyons, loops, barrel rolls, knife-edge flight along the facades, climbs through thunderclouds and dives back into the neon. Lightning strikes the towers, and the glitches hit right on the beat.

Downloads (~300kB, fits on a SD disk): https://flashview.net/screensaver/

What makes it a bit unusual:

- Nothing is modelled. The city, every window light and the flight path are generated at runtime.
- The music comes from a custom softsynth, with no samples.
- You can fly it yourself. Grab the mouse to take the stick, and the autopilot takes over again when you let go.
- Fully offline: no account, no telemetry, no network access.

Linux: x86-64, X11/GLX, and it also runs on Wayland via XWayland. It needs glibc 2.34+, libX11 and libGL. libXi and ALSA are optional (for raw mouse input and music, which also works with PulseAudio/PipeWire).

PlayWeld: an Apache-2.0 game-project workspace for Linux (0.21.0 testing prerelease)

I'm PlayWeld's creator. It's a free, open-source Eclipse Theia desktop workspace for keeping game files, design notes, discussions and searchable project knowledge together. The 0.21.0 testing prerelease has Linux AppImage and DEB downloads, alongside Windows builds.

A small workflow to try with a disposable project: keep a reset rule beside the game's source, save a review note, organize the checklist in a discussion, then use local lexical search to find the rule again. The idea is to keep the intended behavior and the actual test result distinct, with the relevant files close at hand.

The walkthrough at https://playweld.com/#demo shows that workflow in the Windows app and an impact preview. It does not demonstrate Linux desktop acceptance, AI/Swarm task execution or native engine integration. Engines require separate setup; optional external AI providers can charge and receive project context. Start with a copy of your project.

Source and Apache-2.0 license: https://github.com/scarecr0w12/PlayWeld Testing downloads and release limits: https://github.com/scarecr0w12/PlayWeld/releases/tag/v0.21.0 User/technical handbook: https://github.com/scarecr0w12/PlayWeld/wiki

For Linux game developers, which part of keeping design notes and implementation in sync causes you the most friction?

I released a free open-source Startup Manager — a GTK 4 app to control what starts when you log in (apps + your own bash commands)

Title: I made Startup Manager — a GTK 4 app to control what starts when you log in (apps + your own bash commands)

Hey! After Safe Disk Cleaner, here's my next app: **Startup Manager**.

It shows everything that starts when you log in, with a switch for each one:

- Add any installed app (APT, Snap, Flatpak) from a searchable list, or any program by its command

- Pause entries without deleting them, add a start delay — edit or remove them (with undo)

- Turn off things installed software added for everyone — only for your account, and "Restore Default" brings them back

- Run your own bash commands at login — live syntax check, "Run Now" to test without logging out, saved output so you can see what happened, optional "wait for network" for sync/mount scripts

No root, no background service. It only edits the standard `~/.config/autostart` files, so everything keeps working even if you uninstall the app.

Works on Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian 13, Mint 22, Pop!_OS, Fedora, Arch, openSUSE — any distro with GTK 4 + libadwaita 1.5. The startup entries themselves work on GNOME, KDE, Cinnamon, Xfce and others.

.deb on the releases page, `install.sh` for other distros. MIT licensed, built with Claude's help (see Credits in the README).

GitHub: https://github.com/cyb3rl00m/startup-manager

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome — especially from KDE/Cinnamon/Xfce users, since I built it on Ubuntu 26.04 with GNOME.

I made a 3D Clothing and Garment Tool for Linux. This is Seamstress.

For the last few years, I've been making 3D character clothing mainly using Blender. My main issue is that if I want precise folds or have the clothes properly wrap around my character, I would have to manually sculpt them. You could make some pieces and stitch them in Blender, but Blender's physics simulation is not good for this case, and it affects all geometry. I wanted to use Marvelous Designer to solve this problem; however, because I'm on Linux, I would have to shell out $2300 a year to use it. I don't have that kind of money...

You can make individual pieces, sew them together, and have them be affected by physics independently. I added the ability to check uvs, make curves, adjust topology, and many more stuff. You can export your garments to OBJ, FBX, GLTF. You can also link your garments to MakeHuman once you add your data folder and get the base mesh.

You can purchase the pre-compiled binaries for Windows and Linux from Itch.io. I'm currently having a launch sale where you can 20% off until October 30th. No money? That's cool, you can also build the application from Source. I'm excited to see what creations you'll make.

I built Monito, a Linux terminal app that tracks network usage per application

Hey everyone, I recently shipped Monito, an open-source network monitor for Linux.

It shows which apps are using your connection right now and how much each app has downloaded and uploaded throughout the day. You can also browse previous days to see where your data went. It keeps tracking in the background even when you close the dashboard.

Repo: https://github.com/BraveRam/monito

If you find it useful, a star would be appreciated. Would love to hear your feedback!

I missed IrfanView on Linux, so I built an alternative (Bildblick) — looking for feedback!

Post image

After switching from Windows to Linux, the tool I missed most was IrfanView: an instant, no-nonsense image viewer that handles quick edits, conversions, and folder browsing without friction.

To scratch that itch, I started building Bildblick—a native Linux image viewer and lightweight editor.

Key features:

  • Fast folder browsing and instant viewing
  • Inline edits: resize, crop, rotate, and color adjustments/effects
  • Batch processing
  • Multi-format export with format-specific encoding options

With the new v0.11.0 release, it’s now packaged as a Flatpak bundle for x86-64 Linux desktops (Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, etc.). As long as you have Flatpak and the Flathub runtime configured, installation is straightforward.

It’s still an early-stage project, so feedback from the community would be hugely valuable—especially regarding performance across different desktop environments (GNOME, KDE, XFCE) and distributions.

Kool Desktop Launcher for KDE Plasma 6

Check out that radial launcher App called KARYON, that I made to improve my workflow. For a clean Desktop without Task- or Traybar, including media controls and gestures. NO touchpad support (for now). It simply works by Pressing and releasing the Right Mouse Button.

Please check it out and leave some feedback, that would be very much appreciated. Avaliable as simple AppImage. https://github.com/eiseneuter/karyon/releases

Free, local-first planner for Linux, Android, Windows and macOS. No subscription, no paywall

Thumbnail

I tried a lot of planners: Super Productivity, Vikunja, Planify, TickTick and a few more open source ones for Linux and Android. Some were really good. But none did what I wanted, and the ones that came close kept the useful parts behind a paywall. I wasn't going to pay a monthly fee just to plan my own day, so I built Personal Planner.

What I wanted was a planner that doesn't forget the past. Most planners are good at tomorrow. The moment you finish something it disappears. I wanted to keep the day, look back at it, and learn from it.

- Day: hour-by-hour timeline with timers, so planned time and actual time are side by side

- Review: daily, weekly and overview, with the real data next to what you write

- Consistency: year-long heatmap and streaks

- Experiments: try a new routine for a few weeks and let your tagged blocks track it

- Inbox: ideas that turn into scheduled work, with a Dropped list for ones you let go of

Why you might care:

- Free. No subscription, no locked features. Supabase and Cloudflare both have free tiers that are enough for personal use (limits can change, so check them)

- Local-first. Planning, timers, reviews and insights all work offline. Built to stay light on RAM and CPU

- Sync is optional. You can use it on one device and never touch Supabase. If you do sync, your data sits on your device and in your own Supabase project

- You can build it yourself with Flutter and run it without Supabase or Cloudflare. Only the client URL and publishable key go in the app. Management tokens, OAuth secrets and service-role keys stay out of the app and out of Git

Platforms: Linux (tarball), Android (APK), Windows and macOS (zip). The Windows and macOS builds are unsigned, and I couldn't test on a real Mac, so macOS has only been tested on GitHub Actions.

Dev here. It's my first Flutter app, so blunt feedback and bug reports are welcome. What would you want a planner like this to do that none of the ones you've tried do?
