How can I get the most out of graphics?

(Both performance and graphics wise of course.)
I don’t have a high end pc, so I probably can’t every option at the same time, will probably just pick those, that have the best balance between both

Start with things maxed, then disable 3D portraits, turn down shadow detail, and turn down post processing effects and anti-aliasing.

There's actually a fix on the current beta for the 3D portraits:

3D Object Portraits no longer significantly reduce frame rate.

3D-portraits seem like such a small thing, but they are surprisingly hardware hungry. When I play on my office laptop, disabling them gives a solid 3-4 fps.

And disable a cloak or use cosmetic props that are not cloaks

Someone once said that 3D Portraits loads the entire visual areas targetable entities into ram to rest them for being clicked on. So it’s a major performance hit like how Diablo 4 loads every players stash into your ram sucking up erformance.

Am I the only one who can't stand how games look without AA? I imagine super high resolutions like 4k the difference is less noticeable but damn my 1440p monitor doesn't like the sharpness

Wait, are 3D really that heavy on GPU load? 😅

Yes. Not as high as AA but they requires additional models with dedicated lightning to be processed. Considering its being rendering soemthing with impact for something we dont really care about, it can act on about 5FPS boost at little to no visual cost

Before the 3D portraits and shadow detail i would reduce AA to max 4x if the rig is not high end.

I mess around all settings and AA is the only that makes significant changes.

3D portraits can make an impact if i max AA. But end up with about 2 to 3FPS boost average on 4x (where i average around 60FPS on my rig)

Good recommendations, I’d add in playing around with view distance too since distant trees can look kind of wonky regardless

The nature trick is to max the graphics then turn off all the directs 11 and direct 10 features so that you’re rocking a maxed out direct X9 environment. Then click the DX 10 and 11 features one by one and see how much performance you lose if it’s too many frames usually 3 to 5 frames per click is too much and move onto the next feature if it’s 1 to 3 keep it and move onto the next

Another trick is to run the game at a higher resolution than your monitor, supports and let the window run at native so that you’re running tighter rendered graphics at a lower resolution instead of the typical upscaling see where it’s low resolution to a native resolution
