Yeah moe art and lolicon art are very different
Moe generally isn't sexualised at all and is meant to be cute. Lolicon is sexualised and emphasizes childish qualities

u/Rainy_Wavey Sep 07 '26
Nah generally speaking even during the peak of Moe art, lolicon and moe were always considered different things

u/WillingnessChance Sep 07 '26
That said: People that assume the only interest anyone can have in the feminine or cute is sexual is telling on themselves.
Assuming that's the only value they hold is sexist, no I will not elaborate.

It feels very nostalgic in a way I can't describe.
22
u/Joink17 Sep 06 '26
Early 2010s nightcore type nostalgia?
15
u/Jixxar Sep 06 '26
No. Because that would imply I was listening to nightcore then, and I wasn't.

its very sad that people stopped drawing like this in the 2010s
its a lost art like damascus steel

u/Rainy_Wavey Sep 07 '26
When moe was at its peak people were lamenting it because the 90s and 80s aesthetics got displaced
Eras come and go, the moe stuff still exist, either in the past or in modern stuff

u/minecorn1080 Sep 06 '26
there are 2 sides of me. one loves really cartoony ren and stimpy-esque art styles and the other loves cute moe anime girl art styles

u/TheChannelMiner Sep 07 '26

OP... you seem to have posted innocuous drawings that are tightly associated with a beloved culture that have no sexual implications whatsoever aside from exposed skin... are you perhaps... attracted to minors?
(Jokes aside yeah it's a very unique style that has a charm that can't be replicated, mainly because of the traditional pencil sketch coloring)

1990s-2000s seemed like a great period. I sometimes wish I was alive for it. Although, when you aren't alive for it, it's easy to romanticize the past because you only see the media and descriptions, probably folks who were really around during the 1990s and 2000s are gonna tell me it's a shitty time period. And they might be correct, I'll never know.

u/AlternateJam Sep 07 '26
Moé and bishojo aesthetics has more or less been totally folded into normal manga anime style, everything is at least a little moé. We got moé Gundam now.
It just goes to show how influential it was as an art movement in animanga and visual novels. This particular variant of moé may be less popular now, but different markers of it are all up and down most modern productions.
I love it a lot.

my only concern in here is that some of the arts have the eyes a little too far apart
but other than that, it's a pretty cute artstyle ^_^
also SAVE LEN HOLY HECK!

And that's alright, the fact that I love something doesn't mean you have to love it too—we can still live in the same world.
1
u/Ok_Nature_319 Sep 06 '26
I used to hate it back when it was commonplace but now I feel weirdly nostalgic for it
1
u/That_on1_guy Sep 06 '26
They dont make them like this anymore. They forgot how. They forgot their moe roots.
There are times where the eyes got a bit fucked, especially with the female characters when this artstyle was still real big, but its still very cute, and I kinda miss it.

Gotta say this and i accept the downvote from this take. Some of today's moe art ISN'T moe. They try their best to mimic(yea) but not learn how to draw one clearly and turns out they called it the moe's of today, wrapped the ACTUAL moe one aside and having quite the fame and love because of the nostalgia ones. I love moe art, since 5th but i cant draw it clearly and learn it to make it my artstyle, though im not a good artist and good art commenters, i just hate the moe's art losing their charm(especially the eyes drawing part and the colors) due to the art's modern standard.

Ive been kneck deep in this asethetic for months because ive been working on an late 2000s internet inspired gmod map. I really do miss this look; on a related note, any resource to find art like this and any other 2000s crap would be greatly appreciated.
