r/metroid has what is called the "noob bridge" in reference to a part of super metroid in the early game that uses an ability you start with and are never told about outside of the origional super metroid game manual for the snes
I remember playing Super Metroid a few years back and I got stuck on the walljump pit because my cheap bargain bin controller didn't register taps sometimes.
I remember when i played a few years ago got stuck for an hour there and after exploring the whole Γ‘rea just dropped the game. Why is there one ability and only one (well, walljump too but I don't think that's necessary, only useful) that you have from the start and never had somewhat of a tutorial on. The worst thing is that without running you are so close to being able to cross, so I thought it was really precise.
It still lives rent free in my memory.
That also happened to me! Thats just how old games used to be, I know its not uncommon for them to have tech thats only explained in a manual but never in game
The way Tunic does it its lovely, and some other games are trying (and succeding in my opinion) to integrate mechanics that are not outright explained.
First, dont underestimate my stupidity and second, pressing the button itself didnt do anything and i figured it would be an ability i would unluck further down the line.
