Pears are tender and apples are crunchy. Unless you've only had unripe pears. That's the main benefit. That said artificial pear flavor is just entirely unpalatable.
There are plenty of varieties of apples that aren’t super crunchy. I meant that in the mostly in the context of cooking though. Either way even if you like the texture of pears more the normal ones don’t have great flavor and finding good ones is basically impossible
I can only assume you are getting red delicious, of which only one part of that name is accurate. Gala or braeburn are my family's go to and are significantly better.
Because you don’t actually know you dislike them. You know you dislike a thing with the same name. But varieties of apples have genuinely absurd degrees of difference between them and the difference between getting ones picked a couple hours ago vs ones picked nearly a year ago is unsurprisingly large
Get better apples man. Yeah the ones that have been bred to last 30 fuckin years on a shelf and that work well enough in any application suck. If you go to a farmers market/apple orchard you can get some excellent apples
