the full comment on the first image is this btw

"im a pedo and common sentiments like this where people refuse to distinguish between someone who will technically be classified as one and someone who goes out their way to harm kids really drains the life energy out of me and everytime i look myself in the mirror i know… i cannot choose to not engage in the judgement everyone else engages towards me so i literally dont know what to do anymore. i literally dont see the point or reason if i am nothing. i am very bitter towards society at large too, and it makes me spiral into hatred towards myself and others. everyone who says what you says are privileged enough to not have to look deeper"

Bro this is reddit nuance is banned

324

u/Healthy_Fig_5127 12d ago

Not just reddit,but basically everywhere.

Can't be more than good or bad these days.

7

u/Useful_Jelly_2915 11d ago

Favorite one in the thread.

140

u/-PepeArown- 11d ago

It’s more like ā€œWe’ll allow nuance every 3 months or so. Beyond that, all pedos, even the non offenders, need to be killed with hammers for daring to have unwanted thoughts about liking childrenā€

23

u/PoofyGummy 11d ago

That is on one topic. At any given time on reddit, nuance is generally banned.
It's not like political nuance will be accepted on the same day as whatever else.

I actually hate the type of posts like OP because like… fuck you dickhead (not you I mean the person censoring it) I wanna see what they said I don’t give a shit that another deemed it no value to read I wanna see everyone’s perspective on things

22

u/ReadyDrummer3358 11d ago

polarization is easy for the brain cause theres two sides, rather than there being some new type of side/interpretation for every situation thats connected to one issue, ppl often go for the easy way out is all

There are pedophiles who don’t abuse children and there are child abusers who aren’t pedophiles and I think it’s very important that people know that.

150

u/CorrectionFluid21 12d ago

I wish people used word "predator" more

32

u/EMArogue 10d ago

I wish people used ā€œchild molestersā€ more instead of using ā€œpedophileā€ as an substitute term when it’s not

10

u/Acceptable-Minute847 11d ago

But predator applies to more than just child abuse.

12

u/Birdlover600 10d ago

Well then maybe child predator or child molestor.

u/M0rningstar_ang3l 12d ago

Not only do both of these people exist, they are by far the majority in their respective groups. In the vast majority of CSA and SA in general, it's not about attraction, it's about having power over the victim.

104

u/CatLover701 12d ago

Yeah, an interesting statistic I saw recently is that even the majority of same-gender SA isn’t even committed by gay people. It’s a power play, plain and simple, wanting to hurt and traumatize someone and to be better and stronger than them in such a primal way.

thing is, is that in order to be an offending pdf you cannot just be a pdf you also kinda have to be a sadist on a deep level. It's not really about the age or youth, its about taking advantage of someone helpless.

240

u/Specialist_Box3630 12d ago

That kind of person would just be a regular rapist if they weren't attracted to children. And the kind that does it for other reasons would do so against anyone weak, which happens to include children.

104

u/Puzzleheaded-Web446 12d ago

This might sound terrible, but when your not billionaire, its probably a lot easier to rape adult women than children. Most rapists with a sadism kink would probably go after children too if it wasn't easy to cover up with alcohol or claim nothing happened.

If a woman accuses you of rape, you can claim than either of you are under the influence, or even that it was consensual, and without videographic or audio evidence it can be very hard to prove in court.

but with a child, as long as the child can prove you touched them, the court will never take your side.

91

u/ForlornLamentsAgain 12d ago

A lot of them abuse them own children or groom children to never tell. The fact rape produces feelings of shame in the victim helps.

45

u/Specialist_Box3630 12d ago

I'd argue it's at least a little more nuanced than that. Besides the fact that women can be rapists too, thus leveling the playing field with other women, so to speak, children and the social dynamics surrounding them can be manipulated in a whole other way. Like, the victim's parents may be complicit, just unwilling to believe that a beloved uncle (for example) would do something like that, or they are unwilling to expose it because it might tear up the family or something. Besides that, a child may not comprehend what's going on or even that it's wrong if that hasn't been impressed on them yet.

A child can also just be plain kidnapped and disappeared or heavily drugged like any other person.

Basically, my point is that you should account for the cases that never get to the courtroom in the first place.

10

u/S-Pigeon33 11d ago

Not really something reserved for billionaires. Many predators abuse the trust and authority they're given to get away with it; they're not going on vans luring kids with candy to kidnap them; they're the church leader giving them private "guidance" or the "fun" relative who keeps insisting on having sleepovers. And they get away with it because they can leverage their power and relationship with the victim to keep them silent, like shaming them with the possibility of their church blaming them for what happened, or guilt-tripping them into not telling anyone so their relative doesn't go to jail. It goes much deeper than you'd think how some of those people can get away with it. Especially if they've imbedded themselves into their communities to such an extent, that others help cover up their crimes to avoid the fallout that would come from the scandal.

→ More replies (4)

13

u/Birdlover600 11d ago edited 10d ago

They don't have to be a sadist. They can also have poor impulse control, not understand the ramifications of what they're doing (such as having a disability, being senile, or an adolescent), being inebriated, having anti-social tendencies, falsely believing kids are capable of consenting, or be so isolated because of stigma that they never sought out help and committed an offense because all they've ever been told is that pedophiles offend so they might as well do it (desperate people do desperate things).

Also, sadism isn't bad as long as it stays a fantasy or is done in a consentual way. What you're doing is conflating untreated anti-social tendencies with sexual sadism disorder, which is probably just as harmful as conflating pedophiles with predators.

47

u/Existing_Phone9129 12d ago

there are offending pedos that arent sadists. they just falsely believe that kids can consent, so they think what theyre doing is harmless. their harm is unintentional, but still obviously harmful

Another thing to be aware of is that not all child abusers have that stereotypical appearance, otherwise people who aren't hideous will get a free pass because they don't look the part.

57

u/misteryk 11d ago

you know what,

I get it.

I understand why this guy feels like that.

396

u/Optiguy42 12d ago

Same. I'm a firm believer that it's like any other mental illness and can manifest in different ways and have different origins (abuse being a pretty common one). I don't think anyone should be blamed for feeling a certain way, but their actions are 100% on them. Like, you wouldn't blame someone for being depressed, but you should absolutely blame them if that depression causes them to drive their car off a bridge with the kids in the back seat

I just wish we had better therapeutic options, and didn't immediately stigmatize anyone coming forward and being honest about their struggles. There needs to be room for discussion and understanding here.

Fuck now that is too real, i had the same thing, and was on the verge of going in a path i couldn't go back.

Gladly i got some help of my sister and finally resplved the issues that caused that dark thoughts, unfortunately I don't think it's as easy as that for most people with a condition like this, it's unfortunate something no one has really experience on dealing with

22

u/Pocomics 11d ago

153

u/Gru-some 12d ago

reddit will kill you if you dare suggest that not every pedophile is an evil iredeemable monster and that some of them might just be normal people with an unfortunate mental condition

54

u/Flowey_The_Fan 11d ago

I got into a few arguments about this and nearly everytime they claimed I was a pedophile and deleted all their comments for some reason, all because I DARED to suggest peodphilia is a mental illness that doesn't automatically make someone super hitler 2.0

40

u/PPMaxiM2 11d ago

They didnt delete all their comments, they blocked you.

24

u/Flowey_The_Fan 11d ago

Wait, so being blocked prevents you from even seeing their comments? I wish I could've known, I must've looked real dumb whenever I talked about them deleting their comments. But to be fair, I think it's dumb that's how it works.

In that case, they claimed I was a pedophile then blocked me.

17

u/PPMaxiM2 11d ago

Yepperoni.

Found out it works that way when i stumbled upon my own comment when i wasn logged in, ans lo' and behold, they didnt delete!

14

u/Vivid_Departure_3738 11d ago

Some guy blocked me because I didn't think his story was adding up about a bully knocking all of his teeth out, and a poor email from the school headteacher.

I looked like a FOOL when I said they deleted their post / comments

20

u/z3nnysBoi 11d ago

Hotter take: no one is an evil irredeemable monster. Everyone is human, and everyone deserves to be treated like one.Ā

Tbh people anywhere will kill you if you defend any kind of mental illness that affects public behaviour. My hottest take is that Kanye is a perfect example of people in their truest moments of action, will always despise mental health issues that make them uncomfortable, it doesn't matter how real or severe the mental health issues are, if they act out of line they are afforded no grace. The number of people I've seen who adamantly proclaim that genuine manic episodes aren't an excuse for manic behaviour is astounding. Frankly it's no wonder the homeless issue will never go away in the US, most people in their hearts despise those who suffer from serious mental health afflictions.

18

u/_Cat_in_a_Hat_ 11d ago

Admittedly I'm not very knowledgeable on Kanye, but didn't he kinda ruin his brain by huffing nitrogen? I agree with you point, but to me it seems that Kanye kinda did it to himself. It's also hard to justify every single thing he's done and said with mental health. Releasing a fully produced song titled "Heil Hitler" isn't something you do on a whim during a manic episode lol.

14

u/z3nnysBoi 11d ago

I've done worse during manic episodes. Actual psychosis during mania is not fun. At all. Mostly in retrospect.Ā

6

u/_Cat_in_a_Hat_ 11d ago

I'm very sorry you went through that. And I do understand that it can very significantly change your pessonality/mood. However, in Kanye's case, that is no excuse for consistently spouting racist and outright nazi statements through social media, public speeches, and his music.

8

u/z3nnysBoi 11d ago

I like to think people can get and do better, as I have, and as long as it seems like that's what he's doing, I'll support his journey. I think fame, loss, mental health struggles and addiction did a number on his psyche, but I truly hope he's past it now and can better himself.Ā

It shouldn't be a controversial take that pedophiles deserve therapy and help, and predators deserve the wood chipper, but here we are

100

u/PM_CUTE_ASS 11d ago

switched to an alt account I haven’t used in ages for… obvious reasons.

I am sexually attracted to certain animals. I do not want to be, I absolutely love animals and would never dream of hurting them in any way. However my pesky brain does not seem to agree with me on this conclusion. I have never harmed an animal and plan on never doing so. I was not abused as a child, in fact I had a relatively normal childhood, although I did discover porn at a very young age (thanks to a pewdiepie video, believe it or not) My attraction made me too scared to pursue my dream job of working with animals and has negatively impacted my life. I don’t fully trust myself to own a pet while living alone as I do not know what would happen if I was drunk.

Unfortunately I just don’t think society at large is capable of making that distinction between offending and non-offending in the current day. Maybe in the future people can do studies on stuff like that, maybe understand how it happens, and have better systems in place to help people like that. I feel awful for non-offending pedophiles who have to deal with that, same with anyone else who feels like me. At the very least I wish it wasn’t so hard for people to do studies on stuff like this.

ā€œThe Neurobiology and Psychology of Pedophilia: Recent Advances and Challengesā€ was an interesting paper although I disagreed with some of it and preferred the article ā€œAnnual Review of Clinical Psychology, Volume 5 2009, Pedophiliaā€ by Michael C. Seto, which is found on annualreviews .org, which, while less in depth, was admittedly easier to understand as I am not a scientist, and it also didn’t write off women pedophiles completely like the first paper I mentioned does. I think that is a good starting place if you wished to look further into stuff like that.

56

u/Jijonbreaker1 11d ago

I actually got banned from a very progressive subreddit for defending non-offending pedophiles, so, yeah, humanity is genuinely just completely fucked. People are incapable of understanding nuance.

21

u/EEE3EEElol 11d ago

Reading this made me feel so sad for you and people that have similar conditions. I wish you all the best in life, whoever you might be and wherever you nay live.

20

u/Tasty-Complaint-6437 11d ago

A mental healt problem is always to extremly painful to deal with. Its no surprised that this happens to them too.

16

u/Orion_824 10d ago

I’m not going to be as open about my internal thoughts here as this comment is, but I will just say that I ā€œloveā€ seeing people have the space to get that shit off their chests. I know how much this kind of thing weighs down on people. I understand needing the alt/burner account because people are just not ready for that conversation, but I value the bravery needed to open or be part of the conversation. It’s a terrible thing to be ā€œdifferentā€ in the ways we are. In fact I think more people struggle with the intrusive thoughts (ACTUAL intrusive thoughts) than we realize. They just are understandably scared to talk about it or accept it as a side of them

(obviously i don’t want people to give in to that side either)

30

u/Glad-Midnight7240 11d ago

I mean, actions define you, not thoughts, because those are not you nor can be controlled most of the time, so you are good to go in my book.

Who is more virtuous, that who does good because such is their nature or that who does it despite of theirs?

16

u/Throwaway7122025 11d ago

I'm a bit surprised to see another person with my condition here, but it's nice to know I'm not alone.

I've made peace with this condition, I've found coping mechanisms and ways to minimize those thoughts, but I dread the day I'll have to confess it. Part of me wants to keep it a secret forever, a quiet horror to sit and suffer with without anyone else knowing, but I know that my future partner, whoever they may be, will deserve to know what they're getting themself into. It's not the only bit of baggage I'll have to inform them about, but it is the one I'm most worried of.

Houses are a fucking what now

80

u/pgp555 12d ago

Tbf a house is more of a liability than an nft.

Not that you should buy nfts lmao

56

u/QueasyMessage5376 12d ago

Houses actually are more of a liability than an NFT. A house theoretically can cause more financial distress because they can further depreciate or incur even more debt through things like repair and maintenance costs which the owner would be responsible for.

NFTs have zero value and therefore once you've bought, you aren't liable because you have nothing of value to maintain. You threw it way when you bought the stupid monkey pixels.

Houses can be an investment you lose out on, with NFTs you may as well have burn the money in a barrel.

Actually, scratch that. It would actually be a better use to burn the money, at least it would provide warmth for a little bit.

The funny part is that pedophilia isn't a crime. And you usually can't prove it if the person just hides it well enough.

i feel like this would be really funny if i got the joke

u/No-Tailor-4295 12d ago edited 12d ago

In (anc.) greek:

pedo/paedo = "child."

philia = " affection" (modern meaning as a suffix = Unusual attraction.)

pedo/paedo + philia = Unusual attraction to Children.

But, on it's own:

It gives the illusion of a Ancient greek child logging onto reddit.

You asked, I explained, now the joke is probably no longer funny.

I want to know the context here. Who is this, why do they have CSAM, and why/how are they justifying it?

u/Academic_Top6921 12d ago

they're deadass just a pedo, the context doesnt make it any better

How does it even make sense in his head? How is that any better? And how is it consensual if a child cant consent? I need to get out of here ...

No, you don’t understand, this person doesn’t have right to speak because of the way they were born. I am not evil, they are evil!

Or something like that

I actually hate the type of posts like OP because like… fuck you dickhead (not you I mean the person censoring it) I wanna see what they said I don’t give a shit that another deemed it no value to read I wanna see everyone’s perspective on things

23

u/Mini_Raptor5_6 12d ago

Yeah, like I do find the examples here kinda funny but they both sorta suck tbh. I might be confusing the second one for another one but I know that there's a green text where the anon says he's a straight man and he just gets blindfolded and raped because his girlfriend swapped places with her brother mid sex.

The "I'm a straight guy" posts almost always seem to end in a realization that they may have been incorrect, or trying to justify that an incredibly gay thing that happened was actually still super straight

The second one is always like "I'm straight [extremely gay thing] am I gay?"

Yeah, uh, I'm not likely to trust anyone who deliberately prevents me from seeing the full context, thank you.
