What if chess pieces could actually use magic, fight, and physically move? My Friend and I decided to make a game around that idea
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone!
My friend and I have been building a chess inspired strategy game called Battle For Crown.
The idea was pretty simple. We love the strategy behind chess, but wanted to experiment with what happens when the pieces are actual characters that move, fight, and use magical abilities.
We have also added online matches, local multiplayer for friends and family, and AI opponents for anyone who just wants to practice.
We have started showing the game around Reddit as we get closer to release, and I thought the lowpoly community might find the concept interesting.
This is our first trailer to see what people think about mixing traditional chess strategy with fantasy combat, Fingers Crossed 🤞

More info here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ay0J82
Although the modern world is full of uncertainty, this personal project is something I turn to for solace amid the challenges of today.
It harks back to a time when things were made by people, for people - whether it’s a traditional century-old window frame or a video game with hand painted graphics.
I hope that, as you contemplate my work, you will manage to escape from the routine for a moment and immerse yourself in a nostalgic and magical world within you!
Initial concept, texture overpaints - Photoshop
Blockout, modelling, UV unwrap and retopology - Blender
Sculpt - Zbrush
Baking - Substance Painter
I really hope this work reaches more eyes than it does now, hope you'll like it! Open to any feedback

Hey guys!
I'm making a single-player RPG which is heavily inspired by WoW Classic - my favourite game :)
Here's a quick vid showcasing one of the new zones I've created.
I've also published a new Devlog on my youtube which shows 10 new areas I've created. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/VYZ6mvedA7g
The game is called Warmongers: Empires Reborn and you can currently wishlist it on Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/3468800/Warmongers_Empires_Reborn/

Update on story and Heros
I posted last week about our heroes. I have taken the time to do their "lover," love interest or one of their family members. AKA the reason why they are in the bayou in the first place.
I was thinking of adding them as "skins" to swap, but I would need to do a better job with their textures and models.
For now, they are merely seen as ghost figures when the player stays too long in the fog or in some story instance (recruiting a new hero).
-Story-
Born Marie Thibodeaux, Sister Célestine had a forbidden affair within her convent. When her beloved vanished, she found a letter bearing a New Orleans address. Crossing the Atlantic under the promise of missionary work, she now searches the city, determined to discover whether her love fled or was taken away.
Born into a wealthy New Orleans family, Rosalie Landry returned from searching the swamps deathly pale, with no memory of three missing days. Her husband had vanished the day after their wedding. Now murder victims appear carrying his possessions, and she must retrace her steps to discover what she saw and what followed her home.
Camille Moreau, son of an Indigenous mother and an immigrant father, seeks his missing uncle in New Orleans. His uncle claimed to have found documents that could help their family reclaim stolen land. When a family urn appears among a murdered stranger’s possessions, he sets out to uncover what his uncle found and what happened to him.
Joseph Baptiste has spent forty years steering boats through Louisiana’s waterways. In 1850, his passengers know him as Captain Baptiste, a man of steady hands and dry humor. When an abandoned boat drifts past carrying his brother’s coat, Joseph postpones retirement and sets out to bring his missing brother home.

Tons of handmade, low-poly characters in our Bowling Deckbuilder
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The Final Lane is a bowling roguelike set in Hell where you draft balls that help you climb through Hell for the ultimate prize: a shot at Satan and a chance at redemption.
We are a small indie dev team of 3 with a passion for bowling & video games! In this game, you bowl with your mouse ( dragging up & down ) with real physics that feel like bowling!
This isn't traditional bowling however! In The Final Lane you are bowling in Hell. Draft and consume bowling balls to alter your next bowl & defeat an enemy standing in your way to victory and the possibility of unholy redemption. You "consume" a ball like you play a card in Slay the Spire!
Light the fuse on a ball to explode surrounding pins, nudge the ball after your throw, even split the ball in two to maximize your results!
If that sounds like your kind of game, feel free to check out our Steam page, wishlist it and/or play the open playtest on steam :)

I modeled the humble mini trucks and vans I grew up with, and you can drive them in my retro open world game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve spent the last few years making low-poly models of the humble cars I grew up with in northern China and posting them on Instagram (boxy.poly): mini trucks, microvans, boxy taxis.
Eventually I wanted to actually drive them, so I’m turning them into a driving game set on the streets of my childhood. You haul watermelons that roll off if you take a corner too fast, keep taxi passengers happy, squeeze a bus down narrow streets, and chase down criminals in the underpowered police hatchback.
It’s called SHIFU: Traffic Masters and the free demo just came out on Steam (link in the comments). What humble workhorse would you want to see next?

Combining low-poly graphics with modern volumetric lighting for my surreal sci-fi ghost story. Here's a look at some of the liminal ship environments I've been building.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, I'm Chris (Christophocles). I'm a 3D artist and musician working on a surreal, low-poly sci-fi ghost story called “Pitch was the Night”
The Story:
The film focuses on a lone astronaut at the edge of the universe, aboard a derelict science experiment. A lush garden lab known as “The Arboretum” is this astronaut's last connection to a planet he’s never lived on. A chance encounter sends him spiraling into the haunted interior of his dying ship.
Visuals & Audio:
I've always been drawn to late 90s PS1/N64 graphics, so I'm pairing low-poly modeling with modern volumetric fog and lighting in Blender/Unreal Engine to create an eerie, liminal vibe. I did all of the modeling, lighting and story writing myself as well.
Follow Along:
I share regular devlogs and WIP updates on Discord. Check out some more teasers or follow along to stay up to date:
https://linktr.ee/pitchwasthenight
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the lighting and atmosphere!

A low-poly JDM car I designed, and some liveries for it
Bonus points if you can guess the three real-world liveries I'm ripping off.
I modeled it and painted all the base textures in Blender, then used Photopea for adding text and overlaying the baked ambient occlusion. These are screencaps from inside the Unity game with a toon shader I half wrote, half cannibalized the official Unity toon shader package for.

Extraction Shooter Commission Feelers
Hey guys I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit for this please recommend others to cross post. I'm making an escape from tarkov-esque extraction shooter following a certain gameplay vision but also a visual style that has similar atmosphere and visual appearance to tarkov, while also being a simple low poly style for the charm and also focused on being able to run on all systems. I was wondering if I could chat with anyone about commissions and a general art workflow during development. I'm very new to this so any misconception I may have please help me 😅
