Luddites uprising 2027 (grassroot movement idea)
So I have a grassroots movement I would like to start. It is called Luddites uprising 2027. Local communities can be formed in cities. We can discuss this here on Reddit or elsewhere. And I believe we can try and form local luddite groups, join in protests if possible or create protests against things like data centers, tech-feudalism, and other things like AI taking people's jobs, or AI causing increased loneliness.
And all ways that technology can make public health worse or ruin society. My life is very lonely because of all the technology and I realized that the loneliness epidemic has been created on purpose for algorithms to narrow our world view and not have people challenge our opinions, as well as to control people's intelligence and from becoming powerful together. Wherever you live across the globe I encourage you to think about this. There are no left or right, west or east, or any division like that, because those things are only distractions.
Before MAGA and Woke left, things like Occupy Wall street, Occupy Europe, Occupy Middle East etc. was huge. Media stopped reporting on this after Michael Bloomberg had mobilized NYC police to remove demonstrators that was peaceful. What is peaceful is not always considered good in this world. That was made very clear by the FBI at that time. Controlled oppositions has always existed. It's nothing new in the U.S with things like Operation Mockingbird, or what we see today in politics to distract from the wealth gap between the 1% and the rest of the world.
Controlled opposition existed in the soviet too and was led by those like Vladimir Lenin. Also, this has nothing to do with politics, but politics has been used to create controlled oppositions to counter grassroots movements. Occupy Wall Street may seem progressive or left leaning because of the criticism of organized religion, but the tea party movement was conservative and republican, yet another grassroot movements -JUST AS AMAZING! Grassroot movements unite people, local clubs unite people, and freedom is our birth right.

Thanks for the tip. I still think more movements are a great idea and I truly believe a movement like this that can spread next year is a good idea which is also why I added the year 2027. The power belongs to the people. Power can be returned peacefully. Who would have had predicted the effects of Occupy Wall Street. The people truly has power. 😊

I think the most effective vanguard action would be to allow loads of boomers (actual boomers) unfettered access to computers without any anti-virua software.
They can totally ruin a computer in record time. But they'll still blame it on their kids going on the wrong website

We need to start forming communities in big centers then the rest will spread. The problem is that most luddites don't use their phone much. We need to print out posters and put them around cities to reach more people.

I think the poster idea is a great thing. Putting up posters in large cities would definitely help. I don't think one thing has to exclude another, but yeah, focusing on large cities is also good. And large cities would be very relevant in peace manifestations and actual demonstrations. I barely use my phone either, so I'm one of those people.

Ted Kaczynski would be in full agreement with you

Is this meant to be a negative comment? Cuz I think he was ahead of his time with certain things, minus the violence he promoted. If it weren't for the violent aspects, I wouldn't be uncertain about the motive with your comment in regards to my post. Because I only want to improve the planet for other people and myself. I liked your comment, but not really agree if it was meant in a negative way.

I don't like to focus on division in terms of left vs. right or words like incel and schizophrenia. This world needs unity and to me, everything else that the powers that should NOT be is trying to get people to focus on that doesn't reflect that but instead division, is exactly part of their agenda. "Divide and conquer".

I would prefer a more positive name, though... while the sentiment of a Luddite is anti- new technologies, I appreciate these technologies if they're kept in their place. Right now we are being force-fed AI, and that surveillance, AI, data collection, and our biometrics are being used without permission or even any regulation whatsoever, in service only to the oligarchy and billionaire tech bros. The rich get richer on our backs, and we are the product. There are some absolutely incredible medical and research uses of AI which should be aimed at benefitting society as a whole, not just corporations.
A movement like this should be recognized as FOR those good things, not just against all technologies. Maybe focus on regrowing societal, human, in-person networks, not only restricting the growth of artificial neural networks?

I agree with the problems with AI you mention, but personally the medical research uses of AI scares the crap out of me. It feels like a gamble and the people in power that should not be in power, are eugenicists who wants to alter our DNA in massive ways, alternatively, turn us into cyborgs, androids or upload our mind to a computer. The eugenicist part is to control the mind of people through medicine. If someone believes they can benefit from medical research of AI I'm not against that, but I do believe we have to be careful. The people that are working on medical research using AI are often very corrupt people unfortunately.

oh absolutely. i work in medicine and the potential to eliminate some horrible diseases such as alzheimers is tremendous. BUT it HAS to be regulated and supervised and we need to return to treating science as a priority.

u/Luddite333 Aug 28 '26
Well, I will always have mistrust for certain aspects of medicine. Also, people like Bill Gates is talking a lot about alzheimer's vaccines, so it's a red flag already.

I think your heart is in the right place though. However not everyone working in medicine is motivated to help mankind like you and that's why we have to be so careful.

Well, I'm just a regular person like most people so from that perspective the logical response would be no. However, grassroot movements doesn't truly require politicians. All it requires is people that are collectively upset with something and of course, luddites are a great example of that. So much so, that the billionaires are actually bothered by the collective uprising of people that are disappointed with the way they are pushing technology on people in a way that is clearly destructive.

It is good that so many people are realizing that we don't need politicians to give us our power or to lead us. We are fully capable of doing this on our own. Most politicians doesn't even have the motivation that people do. People that feel the effect first hand of technology often do have motivation. It's been very clear with protests against data centers, or AI stealing people's jobs, as an example. Grassroot movements doesn't need politicians showing the way, but can help people realize the politicans rarely stand up for the people to begin with. Only with grassroot movements does people come together in a way we don't see with mainstream politics.

I know that you and I may not live in a country that has faced the same effects of AI, but I'm glad you're informed and concerned about the world too. Most politicians are bought which is unfortunate. It truly feels like the people are the ones that have to change the world together, not political figures. I guess there's political figures that may represent the people but they wouldn't be very popular by most politicians. There's examples of them. This world is so upside down. While we haven't had the same impact, we've been massively impacted by big tech as well. Big tech has caused so much damage and it has personally affected me so much that I became a luddite, as well as from seeing everyone else that is suffering because of current big tech, and the effects it has upon society, which motivated me further.

Well there's certain organizations that would be interesting, like the Wilderness Front. However, I still believe in the vision I have. I have never felt so devasted in my entire life before. And I've always been motivated to fight injustice.

From who? I don't use AI to generate content. I'm a luddite and I feel that would go against my values. I have stopped using AI to generate images for this reason. And I have never felt the need to use AI for writing. I always preferred to write my own content. I did try Suno long ago but I stopped with it and it ruins for others. It wouldn't be altruistic as a luddite to use AI to generate content when me and others are impacted by big tech, even though the reasons may vary.
