Protest anyone?
Bobby is under the impression that his economic model is working, and needs proof that it is not: https://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/national/145109/if_the_recipe_is_working_do_you_throw_it_away_abela_defends_economic_model?fbclid=IwdGRjcAVByOFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBwZG9mAWZkaWQWUQgMzt0IwBPR_ss2tSqYBaQoRwNi1HNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR6gN13H6Myp18JUcYxGBDiWofU_bD6whpzGCoLYMk0q3prbCw2-QwVOSEXHWw_aem_mWJsQNx56hLGRKQgbgcQtg
It seems he is a bit thick in the head so he needs a clear message that it is not working.
Maybe a protest like what is happening in France or Italy can help him understand.
Anyone?

"Maybe a protest like what is happening in France or Italy can help him understand."
With all due respect, if you're suggesting rioting, reconsider.
We don't need people to riot in the streets like idiots to prove a point. Protest all you want of course, that is our democratic right, but not riot...

Not gonna engage on the "they're not french" point. What I am going to ask is: Do you think Malta get a better outcome from riots just because the rioters would be "Maltese"? (I'm putting Maltese in quotes because I don't know what your view of "Maltese" is)
Also good luck getting more than 20 Maltese people willing to risk jail time just to riot and portray themselves as the bad guys.

There's no other way they will listen otherwise.

You will lose all credibility for your cause if you riot, most likely. Rioting will just cause more damage that our tax money will be sent to fix. You'll do 2 things:
- Erode sympathy from people who would understand your point of view peacefully
- Let labour brand you as the bad guys because in this situation you would be rioting
Just don't riot. If we want change we need to protest and vote. For the voting part, I get why one would not have as much faith in the voting system because the majority of our population are basically tribes of cavemen who only vote blue or red like their lives somehow depend on it.
But just because we have bad leaders doesn't mean we need to riot

I agree with you, though no one is actually going to riot. A lot of keyboard warriors here. Even a protest is a stretch.

There’s a difference between rioting (i.e. violence) and civil disobedience. You don’t need to hit people or destroy stores, you need to become disruptive without causing physical harm. Your line needs to be violence, not legality or convenience. Be annoying as fuck so they need to address you, not arrest you.

It's incredible how all you guys here fixated on the violence but not on the protest. Yes sure maybe I should have specified that I don't intend the rioting and violence but only the protest aspect of it. But this shows why in Malta we are stuck with taking it up thebass instead of fighting for our right to live in our country.
God how I wish I was born elsewhere. This place is the pit of hell.

Redditors are not representative of the people out there. We just had a general election and PL won by a huge majority. If you organise a protest, maybe 10 people will show up at most.

Why should tourists renting cars and driving all over the island get fuel subsidies too??

Protest like in France and Italy. So you are in favour of looting, damaging property and creating a bad image to Malta, all of this to tell our government that they are doing a bad job?
That is not a protest but anarchy which is a farfetch from what an actual protest is.

He's not wrong, economically we as citizens are at an advantage compared to many EU countries due to the government subsidies on energy. Most people would literally end up homeless if the Gov wasn't subsidising electricity and fuel because people are not making enough to keep with their needs and their commodities on top of that, and unfortunately most of this country is not financially litterate. Inflation and economic insecurity is a worldwide issue, we are going through an unacknowledged recession because of that buffoon the Americans elected. I don't see how a riot is going to make anyone's life better. Protesting is a democratic right and I'm all for it if they raise the pension age, but to call for riots you must be a very impressionable young person. Don't get swept up in everything you see on the media and develop your critical thinking skills first before you encourage others to endanger themselves cause you want to feel part of some vibe.

I think you ought to be reported to the police. Those are not protesters, those are criminals. You protesters quietly not burning your country.

u/Rough-Improvement-24 23h ago
Who said anything about burning the country? Protesting can be peaceful.

Violence and destruction? Hurting people? Looting? Burning vehicles? That is what is happening in France.

The French and Belgians aren't even rioting anymore for education. Its just now pure opportunitistic crime and pettyless destruction for the LOLs

Riot is bad. Looting and burning down places is wrong but otherwise their should be more who voice their ideas out loud like this guy

If you want to follow an example of a protest against someone's economic plan, you need to be smart and zoom out. Don't just "protest" without a plan. What are you even protesting to? Why are you protesting? Which example are you following? What is your desired outcome?
These are questions you want to ask yourself before going on Reddit (Honestly wtf were you thinking) and spouting to people "Hey let's throw a riot like they did in France" without realizing that it turned terrible so quick.
You need people. You need justification. You also need proper support. Not saying it's not feasbile, there are plenty of examples that show why Abela's direction is idiotic. But use better examples. Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Those 3 had actual successful protests. Even some other countries that protested because of their housing crises and it worked by doing it silently.
Be smart. Else you'll end up like those vegans who wear masks and protest against bacon and meat.

Will never happen and doesnt need to happen. Grow up . These riots are just an excuse to loot and disrupt. We are better than that.
