One of the most chilling media I've ever seen is when back in high school my history teacher showed us some of the US TV programs that were airing around the time of Hiroshima & Nagasaki bombings, of people being interviewed and discussing the nuclear bombs and the war, and every single one was downright celebrating the bombs, the murder, death and destruction they'd wrought with inhumane glee.
History in a nutshell. Inhuman atrocities are all well and dandy as long as they're committed to the other side, cause the other side isn't human
Shit, the firebombings of Tokyo and Dresden are still presented as tactical genius, or were when I was in school at least, while the Blitz is seen as one of the greatest wartime tragedies
Nope, sorry but you're missing the point entirely: They were not celebrating ending the war, they were very much just happy about specifically having nuclear weapons, about having the power to wipe off the map anyone who opposes them with minimal effort.
