Yoru finally saved mankind by destroying Detroid.

24

u/Toad_Thrower Nov 11 '25

she's gonna incur the wraith of the devil that embodies the fear of getting diss tracked by Eminem

u/ngkn92 Nov 12 '25

Can't have Detroit

0

u/Nickfreak Nov 11 '25

Man Trump is really going full out. Oh wait wrong time line

353

u/ckrono Nov 11 '25

yoru is incredibly strong right now, probably the strongest non primal we have seen in the series, the thing that helds her back is the peanut she has as a brain

155

u/MrGalleom Nov 11 '25

She's still somewhat sharing with Asa, so her effective use is actually only half a peanut.

141

u/Gloomy_Honeydew Nov 11 '25

The peanut is what empowers her to claim ownership of the US, actually

152

u/ckrono Nov 11 '25

If you think about it, makima's powers were held back a lot by her smartness. She needed a lot of effort to convince herself she was better than pochita, she would jave never be able to gaslit herself she is steonger tham death

32

u/Gurgalopagan Nov 11 '25

More that Makima was stubborn, she wasn't easily convinced not necessarily because she was smart, and more because she couldn't let go of how she wanted the world to be, her refusal of seeing Pochita as anything other than a force of destruction, even when Denji being a hybrid alone was more than proof that CSM Hero of Hell was a myth surrounding him rather than actual fact, she still couldn't "own" him like that, she had to use an over elaborate plan to separate him from Denji, and defeat him the way SHE could still believe he was the figure of unstoppable chaos

Sure devils gain strength from fear, but never in any point other than she stating it, have we ever seen any indication Pochita was weakened by being beloved as Chainsaw Man, his feats in their fight where actually more impressive than some of the stuff he pulled later on against Aging after he was already a public menace (and in any case, he is an anomaly to the fear/adoration thing just by the fact nobody seems to fear chainsaws to the point it justifies his strength in universe)

So I actually think that was literally something she made up just so that she could accept defeating Pochita without compromising in her worldview, he couldn't be at full power, he couldn't have a bond with a human, he couldn't be anything else than what she wanted him to, but in the same coin, no human can ever be equal to her, Denji couldn't ever present a threat to her, and Chainsaw Man couldn't ever hold a conversation about liking shitty movies, even when he is clearly just wearing clothes and his arms are there for all to see he isn't just Hybrid Denji, stubbornness, not smarts was her downfall

Yoru on the other hand, is open minded enough to actually use the power, like yeah, she knows she's using shitty logic, but it's technically true so she can incorporate it easily into her own mind, I don't think she even could turn Denji into a weapon when she refused to, because I don't think it was even about Denji needing to accept it, she did and that's how her powers work every other occasion, but Pochita having a claim to him supersedes her own, so that's when she started having to go through the logical loopholes Makima did by default

23

u/Gurgalopagan Nov 11 '25

You think someone smart could justify to themselves half the shit she claims owning? She needs to actually believe her bullshit it isn't enough to just say it convincingly, and I don't think anyone with a IQ above room temperature in Celsius (yes) could ever fool themselves war truly is a synonym of family and friends, sure your bonds strengthen amidst hardship, but war isn't wholesome, and any veteran that could truly leave the battlefield behind would most likely prefer to have his dead comrades back than to go to war ever again...

Wait no I think you can actually do that, forgot how many cultists are people with genuinely impressive careers, or how many misanthropes are also pretty smart (Teddy K for example)... your brain truly can just tell you what you wanna hear

2

u/Etonet Nov 11 '25

btw i thought lil d was a primal? how she get eaten just like that

3

u/ckrono Nov 11 '25

she is not simply a primal but the strongest of them all. She is purposefully supressing herself because unleashing her power would bring upon the apocalypse, right now i suppose she is the equivalent of dog pochita or bird yoru

2

u/Academic-Box7031 Nov 26 '25

She also admitted she got seriously weakened because of chainsawman and his bullshit 😂

Her powers require loads of set-up and can fail tremendously. Since she was a devil, she really didn't care about bonds, she only EVER formed surface level bonds on her end, and deep bonds from the other.

That is 50% of her power just off the jump.

Thanks to Asa, and forcing her to stand-off each time she tried to POP off. This allowed her to grow and understand what bonds are, so her power is stronger as a result. She's still a dimwit with a brain more smooth than a koala, but now she is a stronger koala smooth brain.

u/ginger6616 Nov 12 '25

I think makima was stronger because she had the ability to be subtle if she wanted. Remember what the president said? The world basically gave up and let makima rule the world

1

u/ckrono Nov 13 '25

you can say she was smarter for sure, she beat pochita in the end not by becoming stronger than him but by making him weaker, but in a direct confrontation she is nowhere near current yoru

US went from having the Great Lakes to having the Great Lake in a single chapter.

63

u/GuudeSpelur Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

Two Great Lakes: Lake Ontario, and Lake Supichurie

27

u/Lex4709 Nov 11 '25

Oh yeah, Lake Ontario survives for now. As long as New York and Ontario survive, it should remain its own lake. And if they don't, the Great Lakes can become the Gulf of America (guess the Gulf of Mexico is safe from any name changes in that timeline).

5

u/CelioHogane Nov 11 '25

Now it's greater lake.

Its never a state like Wyoming or something 😭

89

u/affnn Nov 11 '25

I have no idea what Fujimoto knows about America, but I imagine Michigan is closer to Wyoming than it is to California in the popular Japanese consciousness.

37

u/GullibleSpot8419 Nov 11 '25

Can confirm? While not from Japan I'm apparently only a few years older than him and for some reason can point to a bunch of 90s/00s stuff set in Michigan. American Pie, Tim Allen, that sitcom with Kaley Cuoco before Big Bang Theory etc.

Only thing about I know about Wyoming is it's empty.

19

u/affnn Nov 11 '25

I know Fujimoto appreciates even our less refined cultural outputs, but I hope he hasn't spent too much time watching Tim Allen sitcoms.

11

u/Toad_Thrower Nov 11 '25

hey I liked Home Improvement

2

u/nthomas504 Nov 11 '25

I was born and raised in America and even I forget Wyoming is a state sometimes.

I don’t know what those people do there.

2

u/drleebot Nov 12 '25

I went to Wyoming once. There was tumbleweed. It didn't tumble, though; it didn't see the point in it. Where was it going to tumble to, more Wyoming?

1

u/This-is_CMGRI Nov 12 '25

Where was it going to tumble to, more Wyoming?

Oklahoma, mostly.

0

u/Bobblefighterman Nov 13 '25

Yeah no shit lol. Michigan has the Motor City. I don't even know if Wyoming even has a city.

2

u/This-is_CMGRI Nov 11 '25

fym Wyoming?

2

u/Sufficient-Plate-817 Nov 11 '25

As a non-American, Michigan and Wyoming are both states I would never think about if someone were to ask me to name some random states.

2

u/lessenizer Nov 11 '25

Sometimes it’s Wyoming. The character Mirage, from the essentially early access Valve game Deadlock, is an employee (bodyguard) of a mystical Djinn (that he carries around in a sort of bottle-like container) that… wants to buy a significant portion Wyoming to start a new sovereign Djinn nation.

1

u/Personifeeder Nov 11 '25

It was almost certainly Michigan because Detroit was industrial capital of the nation during WW2; that's the Arsenal of Democracy right there

155

u/Raging-Brachydios Nov 11 '25

Imagine Texas?

185

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb Nov 11 '25

Texas is 100% going to be a gun

88

u/Lunchb0xx87 Nov 11 '25

Florida ..it's gun shape already

12

u/callmemarjoson Nov 11 '25

I thought it was a wang

33

u/awakenDeepBlue Nov 11 '25

Nah, Texas Nuke.

32

u/KimJongWinning Nov 11 '25

That'd be New Mexico IMO

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

Lasso

10

u/Raging-Brachydios Nov 11 '25

Flamethrower perhaps

7

u/TillsTeaTime Nov 11 '25

If i remember corretly at the moment there are no flamethrowers in chainsaw man he kinda eat the guy

7

u/Galienus Nov 11 '25

Texas Chainsaw.

2

u/leolegendario MyAnimeList Nov 11 '25

Oh, I really like that, the first promotional image of Asa was her with a Chainsaw, so that would make a lot of sense and also the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a inspiration to Fujimoto.

2

u/yolotheunwisewolf Nov 12 '25

Or Chicago. In a state of violence.

18

u/Deez-Guns-9442 Nov 11 '25

RIP the entire population Michigan 1997(or 8) & California.

Also, Lord Chainsaw Man is awesome.

2

u/ijiolokae Nov 11 '25

luckily death is no more, so they will be terribly mangled without anyway to die

9

u/choren64 Nov 11 '25

Buckeyes stay winning! OSU! OSU!

2

u/Spartitan Nov 11 '25

And nothing of value was lost.

2

u/lawdog35 Nov 11 '25

We don’t give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, we’re from Ohio

1

u/AnActualPlatypus Nov 11 '25

I actually yelled out an audible "WHAT".

1

u/20815147 Nov 11 '25

Man when Florida and Texas were RIGHT THERE!!!

In an alternate universe, Yoru destroys Florida and Al Gore won in 2000 as a result 😭😭😭

1

u/Random-Username7272 Nov 11 '25

War Devil can turn anything that she perceives as belonging to her into a weapon. If she decided that the entire state of Michigan belonged to her, what else does she believe she owns?

1

u/yolotheunwisewolf Nov 12 '25

She shoulda worn the state like a mitten on her hand or something, woulda been epic.
