Question Anyone in Germany/EU struggling with double opt-in in HubSpot? Leads from lead magnets never confirm

Hey everyone, does anyone have experience with marketing in Germany, or in the EU more broadly, especially with HubSpot and double opt-in for email marketing?

Here's our situation: we get leads through lead magnets, but a lot of them never complete the double opt-in, so we can't send them any emails. In HubSpot specifically, almost nobody confirms our DOI email. We do have marketing contacts and leads based on legitimate interest (for example, webinar sign-ups), but without a confirmed opt-in we can't run nurturing campaigns or anything similar.

It's pretty frustrating, and we're losing a lot of leads because of it.

How do you handle this? Any tips for getting more people to confirm, or alternative approaches that are still compliant?
Thanks in advance!

this is super common in DACH marketing because people expect immediate gratification without jumping through email verification loops. one major fix is delivering the lead magnet directly on the thank you page while using the double opt in email strictly to grant access to future marketing updates. also make sure your hubspot double opt in email is not coming from a generic noreply address because german corporate firewalls and spam filters hit default hubspot confirmation templates really hard.

no problem at all also make sure to set up custom DKIM and SPF records in hubspot if you have not already because unauthenticated domain sending gets flagged hard by german email providers hope it boosts your confirmation rates

Submitted Form -> landigpage with a "one more step" message like "confirm the opt in" -> mail with opt in -> opted in -> mail with download link / link to the actual ty page

No way to be sure from here, but confirm rates tend to climb when the lead magnet only arrives through the confirmation link and the thank-you page says so plainly. Writing the DOI email in German, with a sender name people recognize from the form, also keeps it from reading like spam.
