Loving the Monitor III :D

Hi guys, just wanna share my lovely experience with the Monitor III

UPGRADES

Firstly, this is a much needed upgrade of the Monitor series. There's finally some bass and the cusions are so comfyy. Improved ANC and battery life is a huge win too. ANC ain't close to Sony or Bose, but it's enough and not too aggressive.

Preferences

As someome who loves Enya's songs and instrumentals, this is a God-sent in the sea of overly V-shaped tuned headphones. Monitor's V-shape seem to be just nice. Just a nice hill rather than a mountain (red line). Vocals and instruments pop pretty nicely. Only issue with the tuning is that sometimes sounds sibilant, but sliding down 6.25kHz in the EQ helps.

Soundstage feature

It's alright. It does make vocals and rock somewhat feel like im in a concert. It has a reverb effect, but the actual soundstage doesn't seem to be affected by much. I dialed mine at 30% for small room. Too much made music sound echoish and the bass muddy.

Customized EQ

Every now and then I do listen to EDM and other elctronic music, so my customized EQ boosts the bass region (green line) Decided to set the M-button to toggle between default and customized EQ when I change from vocal/instruments to electronic. 6.25kHz dialed down too.

Overall happy with the performance. Slapped in an additional year of warranty because batteries will die at some point and given how much i'll be using these, I do see it happening in 2 years.

I was actually considering Sennheiser's Momentum 4/5, but the tuning sounded too clinical. Would have bought Bower's Px7 S3 if I had the money though

Love them too, an upgrade over my former Mid ANC in every way.

The only big disappointment I have with them is that it does not have autonomy off or without battery like its great previous model, I also forgot that they cancelled the 3.5mm Jack port and that has greatly complicated its use with devices such as iPod and I mean that if the cable that brings the Marshall Monitor III breaks down or is damaged there is no other in the market that serves because the cable that Marshall made is special, if you buy one none will serve you because no cable is bidirectional, the only replacement cable that serves is the original of the Apple AirPod Max that cost 45€ or 50USD

I suppose that's a downside. Especially once the battery becomes degraded (eventually). If I really still love these cans after so many years, i suppose a 50 dollar cable wouldn't be an issue.

Perhaps once that happens i could try soldering it to make it a wired headphone. It'll be an over-ear Major 1 πŸ˜‚

I also love the sound and design of the Marshall in fact I have 3 models, the Major V, Monitor II A.N.C. Diamond Jubilee Edition (or also marketed within the 60th Anniversary / Diamond Jubilee collection) and the last one the Marshall Monitor III, but it's the only thing I complain about

I owned the Marshall Major (wire broke), the Marshall Monitor (lost it 😒) and now the Marshall Monitor II ANC. Not sure what the difference is with the third one, but I did prefer the original Monitor as it sounded better. The ANC on the Monitor II often buzzes so I’m always disabling it…
