Discussion Who has sadder life Peter Quill or Thor?
Both lost everything, I would say they are on PAR but Peter has nothing left and he's 100% human now, unlike Thor still being a God and still has his Asgardians people, what's your opinion

Thor had 1500 years of happiness before his whole life fucked up as a result of joining the avengers.
Quill had a fucked up childhood

As a child, Quill lost his mom and never knew his dad, was kidnapped by aliens who threatened to eat him.
Thor lost his family and people, but he was an adult.

He fucked his life up by getting banished before he joined the avengers, lol

Banishment itself didn’t fuck anything up that couldn’t be fixed. It was Loki’s ultimate betrayal that marked the beginning of a series of family tragedies.

It wasn't fucked up. He was loved and cared for, there were multiple people gathered at his mom's bedside. He went through an awful event, but he grew up on earth in a normal family. Til he was kidnapped by aliens and forced to be a ravager.

It wasn’t fucked up? What? Peter watched his mom die slowly and painfully until the literal day she died and then was immediately taken advantage of by space gangsters for almost 2 decades lmao

I'm with you. Quill's entire life was turned upside Shen by trauma and grief, and then he was abducted by aliens. Nobody is gonna come out of that normal.

Quill still had a grandpa.

I love that they reunited him with his grandfather. A man who lost his daughter and minutes later his grandson vanished too.

Me too but imagine being Gpa and one afternoon a early 40s man shows up on your doorstep looking like he came straight from the 80s asking to come in 🤣
Must’ve looked a LOT like his mom

Neither lost everything. Peter has nothing left? He has his grandpa. And he wasn't kicked out of the Guardians, he stepped away. There is nothing currently to suggest he can't go hang out with them again. And Thor has what remains of Asgard, his friends, and his adopted daughter.

It's like these people have no social experience to compare what someone might do and just assume they are terminally alone. Feels like projecting doesn't it?

A lot of the people here just don't have enough life experience yet to realize that we all lose everything along the way a few times and have to learn to pick up the pieces and start over. Give them a couple more decades and they'll get it. I'm two to three decades older than the average redditor and I have to remind myself sometimes that most the people here could be my kids.

That's a stretch. It's just not everyone is analytical.

It doesn't take analytics to comprehend normal human interactions fam. To not be able to do that, you need a lack of experience with it
1
u/JesterMarcus 7d ago
Its not like Quill has had a whole lot of human interactions in his life either though. From the age of 8, to roughly 40 or whatever he is in Guardians 3, he's barely been on Earth. Yeah, he's had somewhat similar alien interactions, but nothing like a normal human life here on Earth.
-2
u/Fi1thyMick 7d ago
So why do they need to be human?
0
u/JesterMarcus 7d ago
Because there is no guarantee aliens will have similar cultures, customs, emotions, experiences, concerns, and so forth that would help a human mentally deal with their experiences.

u/Fi1thyMick 7d ago
He's literally already been around them his whole life. He knows their culture probably better than what earths is like 30 some years later. Have you even seen the movies? Go somewhere with this goofy shit

u/JesterMarcus 7d ago
Yes, that's precisely part of the issue in him going back to Earth in his 40s to reclaim his old life. He's starting from near scratch and is probably going to feel more lonely than he has in decades.
And just because you know and understand alien cultures, doesn't automatically mean its satisfying or enough to fulfill your needs. Clearly it wasn't gi enough that he left it to go back to Earth.
And fuck off with your attitude, it has no place in a normal debate about Marvel movies. Get offline and learn how to interact in a normal way.

I still maintain that killing ego did not actually make peter 100% human; we see him using the light a little bit at the end of guardians 2, plus Peter's power all coming from ego makes zero sense given Ego's plan is to use him as a battery; I think that was a lie he said to try to get Peter not to kill him.

Even if it did make him 100% human. The MCU shows its possible for humans to have superpowers. So I find it believable that Quill has at least some residual power in him

Thor.
Cancer sucks… But Peter had to be able to expect her passing. He was a child is the particularly difficult part. But he also had support. Gamora, as he knew her, died. But she was also alive again. That she was not HIS Gamora is a disappointment to him, but not a loss.
Thor had his brother turn on him, his mother killed, his father passed away from (presumably) grief, his sister try to kill him, his home world destroyed, the remnants of said world halved by Thanos as his brother was killed in front of him, then his ex-girlfriend/romantic interest dies in his arms.

I wouldn't consider the Ravagers the best group to be around for an 8 year old to deal with major life trauma.

u/Agent1stClass 7d ago
I was referring to the his family during his mother’s struggle with cancer.
As for the Ravagers, I am not so sure. They’re a rough bunch. But Peter came out of it surprisingly good. As does Gamora. Being rough does not necessarily make them bad. Yondu himself was questionable and got his comeuppance. But the other Ravagers seem to have a more honorable core, in most regards.

Dealing with your mother dying of cancer doesn't end the day she dies. That's a lifelong trauma you carry with you the rest of your life. The Ravagers might be honorable at times (we see in Guardians 2, its not quite the case), but they also don't seem like the best group to help provide love and care to an 8 year old dealing with loss. Quill himself points that out in part 1.

Thor has had a rough time of it since 2011. But Quill has lived a harder life overall, as he wasn’t treated like a prince or made aware of his godly powers.
