Discussion Two people who literally LOST EVERYTHING and STILL chose to do good..

Post image

There are countless characters that went through challenges, but none like them.

I will forever look up to these two individuals for what they have always done. No matter what they went through, they still chose the right path.

Thor has endured so much death and carnage, again and again, but at least he's always still had people who care about him. Peter was left utterly alone, with no support structure whatsoever.

Peter shut himself off for so long from having a support structure tho. Thor was always willing to accept people and their support. Spider-man always worked, his closest support ally was cop lady but he kept her at a distance. He only teamed up with Frank because he had no choice. Peter literally spoke to no one, and did nothing but hero work and lived in the attic.

Yes. Which is itself deeply tragic. May would have been heartbroken to know he was living like that - except that she wouldn't be, because if she were alive she would have forgotten Peter as well.

As I said in another reply, my comment wasn't meant to treat their suffering as a competition. I was trying to highlight that they've both endured profoundly painful hardships.

they gloss over it in the movie but he had to have done something. either that or he mysteriously had a lot of cash if he was really just fighting crime 24/7. he didn't need stark money but hes gotta pay rent and eat somehow and he covered expenses long enough for Ned and MJ to graduate, refill his spider juice shooters, fix his suit, build some kinda automatic AI soldering station. punisher was at least just squatting on a boat and not above stealing things.

the product placement didn't help either (I think everyone uses a $1000+ fold phone).

Yeah he definitely needed a side hustle but with all his tech and knowledge it was probably internet base, i.e. something he could do at home, something in the world of crypto maybe. They also made a point to show that his apartment originally was just a storage space, so he probably isn't paying all that much for it.

Spider-Man's real superpower: somehow still paying rent in New York.

Lol indeed. I would like to think, at least for this Peter, his innocent good guy charm convinced the landlord to rent out the storage attic, and since it's extra income he wouldn't otherwise he's offering it at a low rate. Especially considering Peter did live in actual apartment in the building I believe but presumably found himself unable to afford it in the long run.

With how often some disaster happens in New York I can't imagine the rent being that high...

Renters insurance is probably more than the rent

My headcanon is Tony left a bunch of money and other resources for Spidey/Peter under aliases in trusts and offshore accounts, and Peter had access to them through Karen.

Or spider sense works when knowing when to call or fold in poker.

Marvel doesn't like the poors, and they don't want their heroes to be the poors, even when their heroes are best defined by being the poors.

Thankfully for them, the X-Men all live in a mansion, so they don't have to worry about the poors for a couple phases.

one thing i kind of noticed was that Frank was to a point also trying to push Peter away, but not out of any heartless reason, seemed more like he wanted Peter to open up to the world again, cause he saw him slowly going down a path that could turn Peter into another version of The Punisher
