General Question Just saw 11 state police cars drive down to mathuen ma. Does anyone know what happened?
I was driving from Mathuen to North shore mall and saw 11 state troopers with their lights going down to where I just came from. I can't find what's happening

Discussion Don't stop or park in front of stores when you clearly block the lane!

Why do people think it's ok to stop in the middle of the road and completely block the right lane just because they don't want to walk extra 10 seconds. It was so bad there they put cones but now people just double park right in front of stores. It's ok when you don't block anyone, but when you have cars behind you, it's not.

News Would what happened in Bend, Oregon be legally defensible in MA?
The shooting at the Silver Lake elementary school in Oregon, was stopped short by a citizen legally carrying a concealed firearm.
He had probable cause that something bad might happen. But he was a citizen, not law enforcement.
In Massachusetts, you have a duty to retreat law. This means, from what I can tell, that if you’re in a situation where there is a shooter, you are not allowed to engage the suspect, and you must retreat. You would not be allowed to follow the suspect into the school and eliminate the threat.
if you did so, in Massachusetts, you’d be charged with second-degree murder, because you did not have a threat to your life. You put yourself into that situation.
That is the reading of the statutes. So is it really true that in Massachusetts, because of our duty to retreat laws, we are not allowed to save people who are being killed by a madman with a gun if we are citizens who are armed?

Utilities Electric MA | The Energy Primer
Checking to see if this works - These are current (or close) Electric Rates in MA.
Oops - it won't load the right imagine - just click on the logo or the link below for Electric Rates in most of MA.
I will be filling in the last few grey areas.
https://theenergyprimer.com/electric-ma/
Question? - Do folks think this would be of use for other big states? Like for California, etc?
People who already live in MA mostly already know what their rates are but this might be handy for someone who is going to move here - it's a big deal to pay 50% less for your electric, IMHO.

Politics Post question 7 can lots be subdivided
If q7 gets approved is it possible to take a house on a lot and break up the lot? Are towns going to try whatever possible to prevent that. Is it immediate or only after some future date?
Considering subdividing my lot and adding another house. Not sure the mechanics of this. Anyone know?

Discussion Anyone else getting car excise tax bills for car you sold to a dealership?
I have sold cars to Ford dealerships (trade ins) for years. No problems. In Dec 2024 I sold a car to a Tesla dealership including the plates. Submitted all the docs to MA for rebates. In April 2026 I traded in a car to a Toyota dealership. Moved those plates onto the new car. I have been getting excise tax bills for both cars. Mass site shows them as having no active registrations. Now I got "warrant" notices - with additional fees. Anyone else have this problem?

My wife just noticed a $65 charge on our bank statement. Apparently it's been coming out monthly since June. It shows up on the statement as:
Massachusetts MU/MMPAY
Do any of you happen to recognize this and can offer some insight? Thanks!

Politics Are half of these things even true???
I had always seen that legal marijuana dealers decreased teenage medical problems, since the weed was safer than if they got it off the street. But like I cannot bring myself to believe that taxpayers are paying that much for the negative effects. Same with the line about business owners. It really does feel like the Yes on 8 campaign will say whatever they want to get votes (starting with “Please sign our petition to lower taxes in your community!”)
