👁️🗨️Flock Cameras📹 Dystopia island
Just wanted to warn y'all, more MPD cameras going up today in Wailea. Be careful out there. Surveillance state fascism is here. I will vote for whoever voices opposition to the tech giants oligarchy

This is happening under Mayor Bissen. Just an FYI.

Emailed him a formal complaint. Won't do anything, I know. But if enough of us do the same, maybe

How did these cameras get approved?

MPD purchased them as part of their budget. But otherwise no elected officials “approved” them.

So what are our mayoral candidates' views on police surveillance cameras?
We do have an election coming up, after all.

I am in western now. Grew up on Maui. We have this invasive ship everywhere now. Just waiting for the toilet cams to be mandatory. They need to know what you are doing everywhere.

If a camera caught a person pestering (or worse) a loved one of yours and that got them jailed, would you still complain?
Big issues will always have this kind of dilemma.

Flock cameras have already led to false arrests, police misconduct, etc. This will only get worse. He who is willing to trade freedom for security deserves neither

I agree, but a camera is better than no camera. false arrests and misconduct can happen with no video too.

No surveillance is much better than surveillance. We are a country of freedom, not dictatorship

You would change your mind in a heartbeat if a camera caught the person that assaulted your loved one.

You would trade a hypothetical benefit for a guaranteed detriment? You're why we can't have nice things

You live in fear. Flock cameras have been proven to be abused by police and have not proven to solve crimes. Our previous police chief was just recently convicted of abuse of power. You want people like him spying on us all?

Didn’t your president just forbid American people from listening to Rush in their own homes because they’re a Canadian band with the threat to deport?
Ya… freedom huh? The world laughs2
u/beartpc12293 12d ago
The president can lick my taint. He's a clown. I think I'll play some Rush now

It’s a cliche but Hawaii isn’t immune from “you get what you vote for” 😐
