Highly recommend the sub r/autodetailing for questions about cleaning and polishing and maintaining the finish of your car.

I'm checking them out. They're big fans of ONR I noticed. They have good advice, too, about telling the dealer NOT to wash your car when you take it in for service. Or put tire shine on the tires.

I like ONR or Armour Detail Hero and used both for years when I didn’t have regular access to a hose (or during winter when I don’t feel like working outside). If you have a lot of dirt or mud, you’ll want to rinse it off first — rinseless washes prevent marring from small amounts of dust and dirt but can’t really handle tons of dirt either.

Sounds like good advice. We rarely have anything other than light dust. And we like the idea of not sending a ton of water into the storm water system.

If your car is brand spanking new, I would immediately diy ceramic coat it. I used Gyeon Mohs personally but any of the popular ceramic coatings would do.

Yeah, I heard about these, too. I think if we did something like this, I'd look at having it professionally done.

Nah it’s not necessary but ultimately up to you. I did it properly, and it was like 4 hrs of work and like 6 microfiber towels.

Pro coatings apparently last like many many years but with required maint, which isn’t free.
