Guess I'll stick to arguing with the shampoo bottles in the shower then

Doesn't help that the Internet has turned us all into insufferable know-it-alls and the concept of debate has evolved into whoever can be most confidently wrong wins, and having an open mind is weakness.

Oh you're completely right, sadly. Conceding your corrected opinion is now the same as losing, great

And half of the time it’s just rage baiters doing it for the thrill of it. (I am one of them)

Just the other day, we were having an argument and two people in the group who saw same video forgot about the reasoning of it all and kept commenting each other on their argument fallacies. It was dreadful to see them tbh

Bro lost the debate, won the imaginary rematch, and is still preparing for round 3.

Is there a way to get better at this? Happens to me all the time.

Work on increasing your vocabulary and talk to people regularly to help your brain build those neurological pathways back to what they're supposed to be.

You can also talk to yourself from time to time if you dont find that weird. I find myself talking out topics I have on my mind aloud regularly and it really helps straighten out my thoughts on the matter

Read often, and more importantly talk to real people often.

Me with my friend. They're good at arguing a point on the fly and manage to defend incorrect stances constantly if we're face to face. If the conversation is online via text or something, I win because my thoughts order themselves better when I can take my time typing them out. On the fly in a spontaneous discussion, verbalizing my thoughts properly is like trying to catch information from pages as they flip or a body of text as it constantly scrolls. It'll break up and then all of a sudden the bits that would've won the argument wanna surface in my head after the fact.

You win every argument perfectly at 2 AM, in the shower, with zero witnesses

This happens to me all of the time except its not me but rather the person I am explaining to keeps fumbling on comprehending my argument

Smiling Friends.

Other times its:

  1. Wrong argument but right conclusion only to figure out the better argument only AFTER the conversation happened.

  2. Argument that def would've been conveyed and understood better in person than online.

A flat Earther would probably win arguments against me

The Reason I dont debate , Its because I cannot explain an Idea properly

1

u/BonRoxz 2h ago

I can fully articulate the concept and know how it needs to be corrected, but goddammit if I need to actually explain it
