Unless you have kids. Then the weekend is just time to clock in for your other, unpaid job.

Yeah but that parts on the parents, no one forced them to have kids

u/competenthurricane 1h ago
Well depending what state you live in that’s no longer technically true since abortion isn’t legal everywhere but yeah for most people it’s not forced. Doesn’t mean it’s not hard.

Condoms can break. And rape exists.

Dont know what to tell you. I was specifically talking about people who decide they want kids then complain they have to take care of their kids

I wish I was only working 40, as a low level manager of cooks for arena concessions my bosses are determined to make my salary as close to minimum wage as possible. I am at work close to 90 hours a week, plus 2 hour commute every day. Luckily half of it is desk work, but still.

Yeah I’m a sous chef at an Italian restaurant but they don’t work me that hard luckily.

u/honeybear1466 2h ago
Sous chef at an Italian restaurant sounds much more fun than slinging tenders and burgers.
2
u/emlgsh 47m ago
Well, the good news is you don't even need to cook the ground beef for the burger, just crack an egg on it and serve it up with a pinch of salt and pepper.
The bad news is those tenders have to be fried all fancy with Parmesan cheese.

u/boldredditor 39m ago
What in the Sam hell are you talking about

I was attempting to humorously liken the burgers referenced by /u/honeybear1466 to the classical Italian dish of beef carpaccio but was actually remembering the French raw beef dish of tartare.
Though I swear there is a beef dish like that in Italy. Maybe with cubed onion along with the egg and salt/pepper? No idea what it was and maybe that lady was just a French refugee or a madwoman.
But my attempt to humorously liken the (admittedly more Americanized) chicken parmesan to chicken tenders was at least accurate. Because it's fancy chicken tenders with cheese and sauce.

Is that even legal?
3
u/honeybear1466 1h ago
Hahaha haha haaaaaaaaa. Probably. But I am a salaried employee, not hourly. As far as I know everything is technically legal. Ethical? Ffffffffuck no.

I used to do 4/10s at my last place. Sure, you were wiped and had way less time per work day, but 3 day weekends every single week could not be beat

Wish I could just do 3/13.3333s and have 4 day weeksnds but no I have to lock in 5 days a week

Uncooled fabrication shop. Internal temp, 94 degrees F. Those are metal shavings stuck to the skin by sweat and oil.

It’s hard tho - my wife and son don’t get it, they need me. Mild, occasional dissociation then.

Get a job where you can get in and out when you want. Then it’s not bad having a 40 hr week job honestly

1 day cause saturday you gotta do all those things that couldn't be done during business hours during the week. The sunday is just prepping for another grueling week
