Buying a c450?

Hey guys, I was in the market for a BMW or Mercedes. I found a decent deal. 2016 Mercedes c450 at 89,000 miles. It’s got the Burmester speakers, carbon bucket seats, panoramic roof, 19 inch multi spoke rims. The seller is asking for $17,000 but she’s willing to drop price. Has anyone had any experience with the c450 or c43 and do you think this would be a good buy. I don’t want to go into a money pit with it being a high mileage car.

Replacing a low body kit on my W213 E200 (terrible road conditions) + full respray. Where do I even start?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a pre-owned Mercedes E200 (W213) with only 30k miles on the clock. It came with an aftermarket body kit already installed by the previous owner.

While it looks aggressive, the ground clearance is a complete nightmare for the roads in my country. I’m scraping on speed bumps, potholes, and even steep driveways. I want to swap out the front and rear bumpers for something more practical (either standard/AMG-Line or a better-fitting OEM style) and do a full respray while I’m at it to make the whole car look brand new.

I'm completely new to this and don't know where to start:

  1. Where should I look for replacement bumpers?

- Is eBay or Alibaba/AliExpress actually a good idea for bumper kits?

My main worry with cheap aftermarket kits is panel gaps, terrible fitment, or missing mounting tabs.

-Should I look for used OEM bumpers at local scrapyards/dismantlers instead?

  1. What should I expect for costs?

How much should I budget for front and rear bumpers (plus parking sensor brackets, grilles, and mesh)?

What’s a reasonable price range for a proper, quality full-car repaint?

  2. What potential headaches should I watch out for during the swap?

Are mounting points usually identical across standard, AMG line, and aftermarket kits?

I know the usual advice here is "just leave it stock," but since I'm already planning to repaint the entire car, now is the right time to fix the bumper situation.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has done a bumper swap or bought kits online! Thanks in advance!

TL;DR: Bought a second-hand W213 E200 (30k miles) with an aftermarket body kit that scrapes everywhere on rough roads. Wanting to swap the front/rear bumpers and do a full respray. Asking if eBay/Alibaba parts are reliable for fitment, what realistic costs look like, and if bumper swaps mess with parking/radar sensors.

Hello,

I've got a seden a250e from 2025 (second and from 2024). Nice car and happy to to electric for day to day and some gas for weekend.

Here a photo with winter wheels

But I don't understand to logic of the automated email for maintenance:

I've received this morning a mail for service B. But I've already done it in February at 36.600km!

Here 8 months later, I'm at 44.900km

So 8.300km only ! And less than 1000km on the gas..

The fuck?

Publicity shots and passenger-side screens

Why are so many of Mercedes' publicity shots of their new interiors lately hiding their passenger side screen? Are they unpopular? Or do they wanna trick customers who might not know better in ordering? At what point can corporate just admit to themselves that few people want them?

Why is it so hard to own a mercedes

I have my first car, a GLA 250 (cpo), and I've had it for two years. Recently the engine light is on, and I called some auto repair shops; it's about $200-250 for diagnosis. So I searched and went to O'reilly to do a scan first, it said the trouble code is P2402, which is directly related to the extended warranty of DMTL system I got notified about last year.

But then I called the mercedes dealership and they said they have to do a diagnosis first to see if it's covered by warranty, and this diagnosis costs $300. I told them about the code, and that this code is included in the group under my extended warranty, but then they said the o'reilly scan may not be accurate and the code is not enough to check if the problem is under warranty.

the $300 can be waived only if they are sure that the problem is covered by warranty, but they won't be able to tell if I don't do the $300 diagnosis there. And I'll have to pay $300 if they said it's not covered.

It makes me so frustrated that I'm trying very hard to figure out how everything works, and I'm paying $300 like a bet. And I also don't really trust them because when I first got the car, I was very young and didn't know much about cars, so I did service there for 2 years, and now that my car has done a 50k miles service but I only drove 30k (they said bc it's based on year but my car is only 4 years and they said it's bc the previous dealership did the service 1 year earlier), so I feel like it's overserviced...?

And also there's one time I got a flat tire and replaced my tire at the mercedes dealership, then they told me there's something wrong with my tire pressure sensor and quoted me $400 to replace it. I was not familiar with cars and had no idea what happened. Luckily I told them I have to think about that and I asked GPT and got American's tire to fix it for me within 5 minutes for free.

Now that I'm doing more searching before I pay, and trying to make smarter decisions, does anyone have any related experience or any advice?

I'm thinking either (suggested by AI):

  1. contact the mercedes usa customer service to ask them to open a case and see if they can pre-authorize the diagnosis under warranty (feel like chance is little)
  2. contact another mercedes dealership
  3. go to another auto repair shop instead of mercedes dealership for a lower diagnosis fee

My parents live very far away from me and they are not capable of helping me at all. I am so clueless about all these car problems that my boss even told me to bring her when I'm going to the dealership but I just don't want to bother her.

If anyone has recommendations for European auto repair shop in the east bay area, california please let me know too

What to look out for when buying used (2023 C300)

Looking to buy a C300 used. Saw this one with 16.5K miles on it at 30K. Price seems way to good to be true?

Is there anything I should ask for specifically? It's through Amazon auto so not sure what the process is like

Metallic rattling noise from transmission area at idle – 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35, 50,000 km

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,
I have a 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC with approximately 50,000 km (31,000 miles) on it, equipped with the 8-speed DCT transmission.
There is a noticeable metallic rattling noise coming from the area where the engine and transmission meet. It is audible at idle in both Park and Neutral, but seems to disappear when selecting Drive or Reverse.
The noise becomes much quieter or almost disappears when the engine RPM is raised slightly. However, even after the engine has fully warmed up and reached its normal operating temperature, the noise remains essentially unchanged and is still clearly audible at idle.
The noise appears to be getting worse over time. There have also been two rare occasions when I heard a brief cracking or rattling sound while engaging Reverse and moving off, but the noise is not present while driving.
There are no transmission fault codes stored.
My initial suspicion is the dual-clutch assembly or a component inside the transmission, but I’m not sure whether it could instead be the flywheel, a bearing, or something else in the bellhousing area.
Based on the sound in the video and these symptoms, does this resemble a known DCT clutch or transmission issue, or would you suspect something else?
Any input from Mercedes technicians or mechanics familiar with this transmission would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do I mod my 2017 e300 lmk

Hey guys I recently got a 2017 4matic e300 exactly 3 months ago. She’s my baby and the people who owned it before me were very rich and kept up on maintenance. I got it around 100000 miles and it’s currently has abt 104000 miles on it. This is the first German car I’ve owned and I don’t really know much about performance mods and would like to learn more and add some to my car, was hoping for some ideas that won’t put a check engine light on 2 days after I get it done I was thinking maybe a stage 1 tune then again idk anything so gimme ideas.

Agree or disagree?

I can hear the w211 and w210 owners yelling at me through the screen

Yeah they look fine with it but the c215’s headlights aren’t too large they’re just the right size

2017 G550 Misfire

My G Wagon misfired while I was driving on a HWY with kids in the back. It wouldn't even accelerate. Has anyone else has this happen?? I'm now being quoted $85,000 for a new engine or $20,000 to "maybe fix it" after they've had it for 3 weeks and racked up $3500 before getting this quote 🙄 I've always done all the scheduled services and oil changes every 5,000 miles. Did i get sold a lemon?
