I've stayed in many hotels, parked in tons of downtown parking garages, & been to many apartment buildings.

I've seen Fridges/couches/washing machines/all kinds of stuff from casinos (including slot machine's & table games)/cars that appear half built/cars that you have no idea how they fit into the garage (giant truck with 8.5' clearance)/etc etc. I've even seen a mattress with someone laying on it in a parking spot before (probably intoxicated). 

Anyways, it's common

If this is in the US, I'm not sure that's legal. I often see old refrigerators waiting at my apartment buildings dumpsters, always with the doors removed.
