humankind hiccups 😅 Well this aged like milk.

Post image

Stumbled upon this while clearing out the attic.

She visited my primary school in Edinburgh shortly after releasing TPS. The girl in front of me (my friend and train-to-school comrade) was Southeast Asian and has an incredibly elaborate sounding name. When Joanne screwed up her face when my friend gave her her name for the signature, I laughed. This is how she decided to sign my copy.

I was laughing at you, JK.

EDIT: It’s on EBay.

As someone who has no idea what's going on, I genuinely cannot tell which one of you is being pretentious or if I'm missing out on some in-joke.

She's an outspoken bigot that uses her voice and platform to spread hate in the name of "love". She also happened to write some great books. She's talented for sure but no one will work with her anymore because of her toxicity, so she trys to remain relevant by spreading misinformation.

I really have no idea how this is news in 2026. That is truly crazy to me. She's a pretty big name. But yes I was matching their pretentiousness. Lol

Isn’t it more accurate to say she is critical of the trans movement because she’s an outspoken feminist who believes the movement is dangerous for women? And the stars of the movies openly criticized her for that? And she refuses to apologize or back down regarding her beliefs? This could be a discourse. Honestly it seems like we cancel people forever if they have an opinion we disagree with. Yet we also love a redemption story and believe that people can change. Seems short sighted.

No. Not only is she critical of it she is actively funding hate groups towards trans people. No scientific evidence backs anything she says about trans people. If she had an opinion and that was it, fine. But she is actively harming trans people by finding this groups and spreading hate.

One group is Rowling women’s fund. I found an article about it. This is how Rowling describes it. The website for the group states that it “offers legal funding support to individuals and organisations fighting to retain women’s sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.” The article says J.K. Rowling is using her wealth attained from the Harry Potter series to create an organization dedicated to removing transgender people's rights "in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.” So it’s taking that quote about supporting women and claiming the group is dedicated to removing trans people’s rights. It’s an interesting rhetorical switcheroo. But is it really fair to characterize it that way? The fact is there is a boundary there. We should recognize that if you say all trans women are women and can use the bathroom or locker room or whatever, or go to women’s prisons, certain bad actors can and will take advantage of that. She certainly believes that at least. And yeah in her view she prioritizes protecting women. But it’s an interesting debate of our time. To demonize and ad hominem attack the person is to reject any logical or rational aspect of their position which leaves us with no middle ground and then no genuine discourse.

No it goes way beyond just that. She has a 20 something year paper trail of spilling vitriol, and has doubled down on the hate. Theres no redemption tour for this one lol. You're being using extremely soft language

The whole world doesn't think the way you do, just a very tiny sliver of society, mostly reddit. She's not going to have any trouble finding worm. Im fact, it'll probably help her. More people agree with her views than not.

So you do know exactly what they were talking about. They didn't even specify what kind of bigot she is and you automatically agreed with her.

u/Slick_Dapperman May 02 '26

Uhhhh... yes they did. Many many times. I had no idea of this until this thread.

Ahh man sure whatever. Anyways, you can go lurk somewhere else lol.

She's an outspoken bigot that uses her voice and platform to spread hate in the name of "love".

Do I even want to know how this works?

I really have no idea how this is news in 2026.

I pay attention to very little that doesn't directly affect me and mine.

Edit:

But downvoting me for no reason doesn't exactly showcase a moral high ground from the rest of you. Such hate for no reason. Such bigotry... Not least of all from the person who said "you must be a white man".

You must be a white man.

What the hell man... I'm not trying to be a dick but like, does everything need to be explained to you?

Do I even want to know how this works?

This is an extermely common method of manipulation. Masking hate for one group or person, by feigning love for another. Usually used by claiming some moral virtue is under attack, and questioning the groups integrity. In her case, claiming and trans movement is a direct attack on women's rights.

I pay attention to very little that doesn't directly affect me and mine.

The "being white" comment makes sense because this is usually a privilege enjoyed by the majority not the minority. In this case white. Minorities often have these issues thrust upon them which JK Rowling helps enforce.

So many dudes in this thread who apparently have never used the internet! Incredible!

it's the dapper one, up and down this thread defending Rowling then pretending they don't know who she is.

They're both being pretentious assholes lol

Par for the Reddit course, I guess. Pretty mediocre.
