Atleast here emergency rooms are for emergencies. Hospitals could be used for many things

i guess it's a cultural difference that i've experienced first hand. in my current country the hospital is for either

  1. a scheduled operation or test
  2. you've broke shit and/or things that should be inside are outside or vice versa
  3. you can't move and you or whoever found you don't know why

everything else can wait or can be directly taken into a specialist's private office.

back home thought the hospital is also the (exclusive) home of the specialists ( endocrinology, dermatology, plastic surgery, radiology, should-not-be-there-ology ), and you can go to an emergency appointment to a specialist during their consultation hours, if some topic can hardly wait for the general practician appointment -> get a derivation prescription -> get a specialist appointment pipeline.

example: i almost severed my thumb as a child, healing took a decade and many surgeries. If suddenly it started hurting or swelled, or turned purple, or the nail darkened more than it usually did, i was instructed to go to the hospital emergency reception, inform of my surgeon team's name, wait a bit, and they'd proceed to do "cleanup" tasks, and it's the same with most post-ops / recovery processes when a whoopsies happens.

In this case, turning purple for me kind of warrants an expedited visit to an angiologist, because , like when a ship front falls, it's really, really not supposed to do that.

Can confirm in Texas at least, going to the hospital with a list of symptoms gets you nowhere really fast. I said at what point will it be serious enough to be treated here, they said when you’re dying, basically. So, yea primary care then referal to a specialist. If nothing comes of that and you can afford it go the medical tourism route. Its a real thing and absolutely worth it from what I've heard. Good luck OP!

This is the part where Redditors brag about free healthcare from their heavily taxed, televisionless flat.

I had a similar issue growing up where only one arm would turn purple after baseball practice. Come to find out I had a blood clot the size of a pencil in my arm. Something called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Granted since this happens randomly for OP and has had it checked out, I’m sure they’ve already done an ultrasound and checked blood flow.. right?

As you’re suggesting to go to a hospital when in reality it should be a PCP.

It can be harmless, it doesn't mean that it is harmless.

There are other more serious possibilities.

I have acrocyanosis. It is harmless. I was diagnosed with it when I was 3, so a little over 50 years. My extremities including arms and legs look like this 5-10 hours a day. Caffeine, humidity, adderall, cold, heat and everything else under the sun can and do trigger it. Ive had multiple doctors confirm that diagnoses including 2 rheumatologists, a hematologist, a vascular surgeon (all seen for different ailments).

Op has seen many doctors already. I’m sure they can bring up to whomever they see next and see if it may be what troubles them, too.
