engineering masterminds 👨🏽💻 My coworker 3D printed a post-it template after seeing I use a lot of post-its

That is incredibly thoughtful and a cool template! Love that you can add straight lines!

His coworker needs to take this idea on Shark Tank 😊

Seriously. I would love to see a version with a little tray in the bottom that could hold 2 or 3 additional top plates with different patterns. There's a lot to work with there.

I mean I, a straight man, 3d printed something for a coworker, gay male, because I thought they'd find it handy.
Sometimes people just like to be helpful and do nice things for people they like.

u/TheGoodSatan666 Jul 29 '26
Idk dude. When i got my 3D printer i ended up printing all sorts of shit for other people just for the heck of it.

u/Major_LeeHungg Jul 29 '26
It is 100% 1 of 2 things. They either like op... Or really like 3d printing things.
19
u/HarryJ92 Jul 29 '26
Secret 3rd option - they spent way too much on a 3D printer and now are trying to justify the purchase to themselves.

u/Alive-Jeweler9126 Jul 29 '26
You know I can't argue with you there lol, there's always a bit of truth in a joke, and they do say creation is one of the higher forms of love or something like that right ?

Haha my thoughts exactly. This is not "just" a coworker. Either friends or romantic interest.
2
u/Ppleater Jul 29 '26
Nah. I like to do nice things for my friends of any gender. People who think it's weird to do this sort of thing platonically just have a skill issue. If you're interested in someone, tell them instead of playing mind games.

I don’t understand what this does
87
u/Careful_Talk_4253 Jul 28 '26
It’s a stencil to provide uniform bullet points && blank lines to write on
20
u/Cloberella Jul 28 '26
Ooooh ok. Never seen one before, neat!
4
u/FerengiWithCoupons Jul 29 '26
you’ve never seen a stencil..?
21
u/Cloberella Jul 29 '26
Not for Post-it notes, and doing that never occurred to me, as I don't really use Post-its in that manner.

Us nerds need extra time (and a few thousand Reddit strangers) to connect the dots. 🙃

What if it's the office that buys the supplies?
What if you only want every 3rd post it to be lined?
4
u/nibletta Jul 29 '26
Yeah, but what’s romantic about that?
2
u/mzmash Jul 29 '26
They noticed such a small thing and took the effort to make something just to make that little thing a little better is really sweet. It shows they care, but also rhey could be romantically inclined towards OP. People usually dont notice things like this unless they care.

So your coworker was bored lol
edit: in response to downvotes, try working at an engineering company with a 3D printer on site

u/Booty_Shakin Jul 28 '26
Or maybe has an interest
11
u/AlternativeOcelot354 Jul 29 '26
People with 3d printers like to print things, it's not like it took that much effort lol. People can be nice without an ulterior motive.

Or buy pre printed ones? Lol they cost the same
6
7
u/rtkane Jul 28 '26
And if they just need one every now and then vs. a whole stack of them?
-1
u/tracagnotto Jul 29 '26
Genius, you buy what you need. Like if you buy 5 packs for example buy 2 pre printed and 3 normal ones ( or 1-4)
-5
u/tracagnotto Jul 29 '26
Have you text comprehension problems? Did you read why they gifted him that thing?
4
u/rtkane Jul 29 '26
Why? Well, let’s take a look:
“My coworker 3D printed a Post-it template after seeing I use a lot of Post-its.”
Show me the part where OP says they use a lot of lined Post-its, enough that buying an entire stack of them would make sense. Pre-lined ones may also be less useful whenever they don’t want lines.
Or do you have reading comprehension problems? Look at those downvotes on your comment! lol
-1
u/tracagnotto Jul 29 '26
Lmao you have the practical sense of a former professional politician when it comes to solve problems that aren't his own.
The sole fact that someone gifted him something to draw lines on them implies he was already in using his style in most of his post it. Why would you gift someone a line marker for his post its if he never does it?
The thing is easy. Buy a couple of pre printed and a couple of normal one.
But yeah let's use office time to draw lines on post its, the boss will be happy to see you doodling with one of these toys for kids
