humankind hiccups 😅 Accidentally asked for no matcha in my matcha Frappuccino

Post image

Thank you, kind barista for saving me from ruining my own morning with a cup of oat milk slush (it tastes exactly like what you would expect)

Update: I called the Starbucks to say thank you for not giving me an oat milk slushy and they were very kind. They are aware of the delivery app glitches and figured that was the issue for my order. If you modify your food in delivery apps, double check everything before you place the order! Or you might end up with a bag full of disappointment.

So they got two drinks for the price of one? Or did the barista make both ways in the same cup?

There is no both ways. One is matcha and the other is just milk

no. one is a milk frappe . I used to make them all the time for my break when I worked at starbucks.. sometimes with chai in but usually without. it would be just a creamy ice slush but since matcha frappe has vanilla in it would be nicely sweet.

You just took me back to 2003, drinking home made milk frappe with vanilla syrup with my ex girlfriend to keep cool in the Aussie summer. Thanks for the memory blast!

This should call her.

Holy how long ago was this

Matcha Frappuccino hasnt had vanilla in it for at least 13 years, maybe longer.

It is made with just si ple sugar sweetener though.

Ah i might be misremembering but at UK Starbucks 2023-24 i swear the recipe had a couple pumps of vanilla in it. Though as it was my own drink I would go ham pretty much and experiment... my fav was strawberries and cream with the dried strawberries from the acai berry cooler + strawberry sauce from rasperry ripple frappe (on the inside of the cup not in the blender)... wonder if they'd make that for me if I ever asked

can't stand the coffee now though the smell makes me sick haha

u/Durzaka Aug 25 '26

Ah UK is fair though. Different countries have different standards for some stuff, for some ungodly reason.

2

u/kittypuppybaby Aug 27 '26

I love blending the strawberries into my frappes too

no both ways in the same cup

This actually happens more often than you'd think, there's a great youtube video about it called 2 girls 1 cup.

5

u/7PillarsOfTerrain Aug 24 '26

Just looked into this, I don't think that's matcha...

3

u/j_cro86 Aug 24 '26

it was when it went in.

New video just dropped: 2 matchas, 1 cup

2

u/ThereInAFortnight Aug 24 '26

This is one of the core things I don't understand. How is one drink made two ways in one cup?

4

u/thefrogkid420 Aug 24 '26

The point is that its impossible to make it both ways in one cup the person who originally brought up "both ways in one cup" is either very confused, made a typing error, or theyre just quite dumb.

My fat whole milk loving ass would be so hype.

-25

u/LumpyBuy8447 Aug 24 '26

That does appear to be more than one way

32

u/ElishaAlison Aug 24 '26

Right but milk isn't exactly a Starbucks drink. Its not like they hit the lottery or anything

7

u/Ok-Tomorrow-8342 Aug 24 '26

If it’s a drink that you buy from Starbucks I think it can be considered a Starbucks drink

-6

u/DrChubbyIndian Aug 24 '26

So if I get a cup of water it's a Starbucks drink? Dumb take

8

u/Ok-Tomorrow-8342 Aug 24 '26

It’s Starbucks water

3

u/FrenchFryCattaneo Aug 24 '26

What if I get an empty cup from starbucks? Is it starbucks air?

3

u/No_Try6753 Aug 24 '26

It’s a Starbucks cup

1

u/daddy_tops Aug 24 '26

A very controversial one if it’s the holidays

1

u/ElishaAlison Aug 24 '26

No it's free Starbucks air. It'll be worth millions on eBay someday

2

u/cdawg69696969 Aug 24 '26

Infinite milk hack /s

3

u/thefivetenets Aug 24 '26

hey free is free

2

u/gorillaphi Aug 24 '26

No, it's two different drinks.  It is not matcha without matcha.

1

u/LumpyBuy8447 Aug 24 '26

All I know is they got one drink with matcha and one drink without and 1+1=2

5

u/carpe_denimuwu Aug 24 '26

Think of it like someone ordered a plain burger and asked for no patty. It’s not a burger anymore it’s just 2 buns. That’s kinda what’s happening here, it’s no longer a matcha frappe without the matcha it’s a cup of milk and ice, which is not a menu item

3

u/gorillaphi Aug 24 '26

that's not two different ways to make one drink.  Thats two different drinks.  Are you trying to troll or are you seriously having a hard time with this?

1

u/1-800-COCAINE Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

They obviously meant "two iced lattes, one made with matcha and one without". They were asking if OP got both a matcha latte and a plain one, which they did. OP got two lattes. Are we really doing this? Is it actually possible to be this pedantic? Holy shit

17

u/lizardgal10 Aug 24 '26

Technically 2 drinks, but the one without matcha isn’t anything anyone would actually want to drink

12

u/Butterfly_Barista Aug 24 '26

You don't want blended milk with nondescript sugar syrup and emulsifiers?

6

u/TechToolsForYourBiz Aug 24 '26

i wouldnt mind a free drink

5

u/Butterfly_Barista Aug 24 '26

Okay honestly completely fair

0

u/Transarchangelist Aug 24 '26

Fym “nondescript” it’s either Classic simple syrup or it’s flavored.

2

u/Butterfly_Barista Aug 24 '26

I mean the classic syrup, which doesn't exactly have a descriptive flavor. I use classic for a ton of drinks, I was just joking.

35

u/Plenty-Fox-9219 Aug 24 '26

Yes, that's Starbucks's policy. Coffee is mind blowingly cheap and they charge $9 for it

11

u/Buttcrack15 Aug 24 '26

Was cheaper pre dumb tariffs.

7

u/its-just_me- Aug 24 '26

Nah it’s always been stupid expensive

1

u/asusc Aug 24 '26

and the raw material ways always cheaper without extra taxes on top in the form of tariffs.

2

u/QuestionTheStupids Aug 24 '26

Trump supporters are allergic to facts.

7

u/Terror-Of-Demons Aug 24 '26

It really wasn’t

0

u/brainscratched Aug 24 '26

Sorry you love tariffs

0

u/Terror-Of-Demons Aug 24 '26

No I just have been going to Starbucks since before Trump. They’ve always been overpriced.

2

u/asusc Aug 24 '26

no one is denying that. no one is saying the tariffs made Starbucks more expensive.

people are saying the tariffs made the raw coffee that startbucks purchased more expensive, which is an undeniable fact.

1

u/brainscratched Aug 25 '26

I’ve been going to Starbucks since the GWB’s first term. The base drinks really have never more expensive than what you’d get at any indie shop
it’s when you add all the crazy stuff that it spirals out.

1

u/Buttcrack15 Aug 25 '26

Coffee in general has gone up in price. Idk about Starbucks, they're not my jam.

10

u/watsuuu Aug 24 '26

Breaking news: coffee is cheap and people are kind

10

u/Sweet-Ross860 Aug 24 '26

đŸ«  your avatar had me wiping my phone over & over jeez

8

u/DistractedByCookies Aug 24 '26

oh THAT's what it is. aaargh

3

u/dirty_cuban Aug 24 '26

Yeah 2 drinks but one (the one they actually ordered) isn’t really a drink, it’s just an ingredient.

3

u/1-800-COCAINE Aug 24 '26

Since nobody here seems to be able to give you a reasonable answer, yes they did get two drinks. The barista made a plain latte according to the order (matcha latte -matcha), and then one the "correct" way, and included them both in the likely case that it was an accident.

2

u/Ngothaaa Aug 25 '26

THANKYOU!! Finally!! Didn’t expect 1800Cocaine to be the reasonable one!

1

u/voidchungus Aug 24 '26

Two drinks. But one was yucky slush (no matcha, as ordered) and the other was drinkable (with matcha, but not as ordered).

1

u/Ngothaaa Aug 24 '26

Some people like milk and sugar too.. so not yucky for few people right!
