humankind hiccups 😅 Accidentally asked for no matcha in my matcha Frappuccino

Post image

Thank you, kind barista for saving me from ruining my own morning with a cup of oat milk slush (it tastes exactly like what you would expect)

Update: I called the Starbucks to say thank you for not giving me an oat milk slushy and they were very kind. They are aware of the delivery app glitches and figured that was the issue for my order. If you modify your food in delivery apps, double check everything before you place the order! Or you might end up with a bag full of disappointment.

Customers: can I get an iced latte, dark ?

Me: so, do you want to add an extra shot of espresso?

Customer: no, you know how some people want their coffee dark, that’s how I want my iced latte.

Me: ok, so I could either add an extra shot of espresso or not fill the cup all the way with milk and it would be darker.

Her: just do whatever you think, I don’t know what I’m ordering so I really can’t even be mad.

I had to explain that a caramel latte has caramel, which is made of sugar, in it when someone asked why her caramel latte was sweet

But the weirdest I’ve encountered was someone asking for warm cold brew. We thought maybe no ice but no they wanted it heated. I was just bringing pastries out so I walked away and don’t know what happened next but I think they actually warmed the cold brew

That's not actually that strange. Brewing a coffee cold doesn't mean it has to be served cold, just like brewing a coffee hot doesn't mean it has to be served hot. Cold brewing extracts compounds from the coffee at different ratios than hot brewing, so it will taste different.

I'm pretty sure I remember even seeing people discuss about using a steam wand to heat up their cold brew.

That’s probably how they heated it. I think the most likely case is that they just wanted something like filter coffee but we only pulled shots and they didn’t know what an Americano

Ngl, steaming up a cup of cold brew is magical. Such a different body and flavor profile than usual.

I mean…. roast level on the beans used no? Dark roast vs lighter roasted beans.

Do you not have options on your beans?

I think starbucks has dark, and blonde roasts on their beans.

Ive seen a lot of shops that have options. Dark roasts, medium roast and blonde.

For coffees yeah we had different roasts for beans. But the espresso isn’t really the same thing

There are occasional funny coffee ordering stories from the customer's perspective over on the exmormon subreddit. As one myself that quit before the internet was big, it took me way to long to realize that espresso and coffee (aka an americana) are basically the same thing with just different amounts of water.

Meanwhile: I study the menu for a good few minutes while I hear the people in front of me order using a combination of words. Then I feel somewhat embarrassed when I order a "regular coffee", because even then I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
