humankind hiccups šŸ˜… The Absolutely Massive Kidney Stone I passed yesterday

Post image

A let's say... interesting thing to witness come out of your body.

Edit to address some FAQs:

I am okay. Honestly I was only in severe pain one day.

Yes it hurt. Mostly when it was moving from the kidney to the bladder

I hydrate well at a minimum of 64 oz of water per day.

I had a full metabolic work up after my first kidney stone and the best the urologist could tell me was it's stress related.

I used a strainer, I didn't reach into the toilet.

Dimensions are roughly 15mm x 5 mm x 4.5mm at the thickest region.

You pee it out. You drink a ton of water and take medication prescribed to help pass it and break it down.

Once it passes the kidneys you’ll start peeing blood. Best thing to do is drink as much water and in my case drank a shit ton of lemon juice (acid helps break it down) so that it’s not this big when you piss it out.

I was lucky in the case I drank enough I was peeing blood and brown (particles of the stone) for a few days.

Black specs too (blood clot) then on final day I had a few blood clots shoot out alongside some tiny pieces of stone that broke up in toilet bowl. The clots felt weird coming out.

Doc said that was normal and I’ll pee blood a time or two more but I’d be fine afterwards.

They were right.

Now, I make sure I drink a ton of water and lemonade regularly.

I'm so fortunate my favourite beverage is water

Edit: of course thank you so much for the detailed explanation, I appreciate it. I'm sorry you had to go through that!

I will say this.

It coming out of the kidney is the worse pain imaginable.

If I ever go through this again I’m committing suicide. I ain’t doing this again.

If I had a gun, I would have shot myself.

It was like being stabbed, shot, burned, twisted, crushed, frozen, drowned, ripped apart and pain I can’t put into words.

It was 7 3/4cms. Edit: correcting to 7 3/4mm. Mixed measurements in my head.

That little stone drove me insane coming out of the kidney.

Drink water.

Such a profound statement. I hope I never have to experience that.

I had one that was 4mm and if someone told me I could just shoot myself in the stomach to be pain free from it I would have immediately brutal experience and I didn’t know about it until I finally got to the hospital.

My friends mom gave birth without painkillers and it nearly killed her, she got all sorts of messed up from it.

She would rather go through that again than another kidney stone.

You're joking. Your kidney stone was 7.75 cm?! That's bigger than OP's, no??

My bad 7 3/4mm. I mixed the two in my head.

They use a sonic thing normally to help break it down if it’s bigger than 8mm according to urologist I saw.

Still though, fuck! Sounds like torture. Bet you wished they sonic'd it

Pissing it out wasn’t bad.

It coming out of the kidney was hell. It took days for it to come out of my kidney. Once it was out and in urethra tract, it was smooth sailing.

Only liquid leaves the kidney. It’s not made to pass solids.

It is essentially being stabbed constantly as the stone tries passing through.

It is a living hell.

I constantly would pass out from pain to wake up in extreme pain.

Man, the only meds they gave me were hydros and a ā€œgood luckā€ I wish I had something to break it down

Having had urinary issues, I have to say it's really amazing how fast you can get past the initial horror of peeing blood to the point where you just say "Okay, let's see if it clears in a couple hours."

I honestly think I’d sooner die than pass this
