humankind hiccups šŸ˜… The Absolutely Massive Kidney Stone I passed yesterday

Post image

A let's say... interesting thing to witness come out of your body.

Edit to address some FAQs:

I am okay. Honestly I was only in severe pain one day.

Yes it hurt. Mostly when it was moving from the kidney to the bladder

I hydrate well at a minimum of 64 oz of water per day.

I had a full metabolic work up after my first kidney stone and the best the urologist could tell me was it's stress related.

I used a strainer, I didn't reach into the toilet.

Dimensions are roughly 15mm x 5 mm x 4.5mm at the thickest region.

Pain so intense and it’s sharp and dull at the same time. It’s blinding. My last one the ER gave me fentanyl for the pain and I would say it took the pain away about 90-95%. The pain is so bad it still breaks through fent a little lol.

Well yea! That why people overdose on it all of the time.

Mine was less than 2 mm and I full on thought I was dying.

I had never thrown up due to pain before. This thing had me dry heaving for hours.

It got to the point where I hoped I was dying so that I could at least escape the pain.

I can’t imagine what OP’s felt like.

Mine was ā€œonlyā€ 4mm but it basically got stuck for almost a month. Finally had the doctors go in and take it out, I was willing to risk the discomfort of a possible stent, thank god they didn’t have to leave one in.

I went through a period where I had at least one every year. They’re rough, but none I’ve had could touch the time I had gallstones and my gb was on the verge of rupture. The sweet release of the dilauded made it like a spa day, though.

And you never changed your diet to try and stop them?

I echo this. I had kidney stones and then a kidney infection at the same time and it was the absolute worst pain of my life and I had to deal with it for about 96 hours. OxyContin barely touched it. I passed out because the pain was so intense. Don’t wish that on my worst enemy maybe Donald Trump but that’s about it.

Honestly I’m so glad I haven’t gotten a big enough one yet to go to a hospital, the pain is bad enough with one that you can pass normally. It’s a genetic thing for my family (my mom has it and so do my sister and I), so at least we’re lucky enough to know why we get them and how to avoid them, because my mom was hospitalized when she was in college for one that had to be removed surgically. Turns out she was eating too much kale (oxalate can bind with calcium and form crystals, which are the most common type of kidney stones)

Now we just don’t eat kale, spinach, chard, or rhubarb and hope for the best

Mine was only 3-4mm shaped like Satan's pinecone and I thought I had a rabid weasel in my abdomen.

I can't even comprehend passing a 15mm stone.

My dad's 7mm required surgical intervention.

I rolled around on the ground pissing myself moaning in pain when I had mine. Legit out of my mind with pain.

They gave you fentanyl? And you went from a 10 to a 1 on the pain scale? I have so many questions.

Beyond the lack of pain what other feelings did you have? Did you feel like you could stand up or did you try?

And most of all did you ever desire to return to that time after you received the pain reliever or was it a miserable memory?

Was given a ā€œhighā€ (medical ofc) dose of fentanyl for my surgery. I didn’t feel much of anything, couldn’t move my arms and legs for a while. I will admit it was a pleasant experience, but that’s because I went from pain to no pain. I would never use it just to feel that way again without having physical pain
