Is it regional? Which area doesn't have it? Obviously not everyone likes it or eats it regular but afaik it's a thing everywhere in the country.

South. You can't get fresh Mett at the butcher in most of them

I‘m from the south and you can get it basically at every butcher shop where I live. It not called Mett though, it’s usually called “Bratwurstgehäck”
