So my co-moderator u/Original_Platform443 and I are thinking of opening up a day, only one day every week - Saturday - for allowing sales / destashing / shop promotion. Just like we do over at r/crystals on Sundays, and it has worked well, people enjoy it. It allows our members who do sell some of their specimens or run shops to announce their businesses openly, but keep sales posts restricted to that day only.
What do you all think? It'll help keep the sales posts down on other days, as all the members who are here primarily for that will be notified that their posts on other days showing their wares will be removed, and allowed only the one day every week.
I’m moving soon, so the less I have to pack the better! Sale prices until Oct 25th!! Last week of posting until I get moved and unpacked in November. More details in the comments! Give me a little time to get everything posted and reply.
PayPal accepted, buyer pays shipping. Can make a post on Vinted or depop for discounted shipping 👀. I can ship same or next day. Payment due before shipping, please no ghosting. Comment claim or sold and then shoot me a message to confirm details. If package is over $100 in value I provide extra insurance coverage.
Now accepting payment plans! Must put 15 % down to start, then pay what you can when you can. All payments including first deposit are NONREFUNDABLE, and item(s) will not be shipped until fully paid.
Please no offers of trade, I may accept reasonable offers on some items. No holds without deposit, I wish I could but if someone else is able to pay they will get priority. Thank you for any engagement on my post!

Hello, I recently purchased a fluorite specimen from an ebay seller located in China. It was sold to me for over $100USD.
I believe the matrix is a mic of ground-down quartz and binder that was used to form the fake rock base.
After I contacted the ebay seller about my concern and asked for a refund, the seller stated:
“This specimen is a classic blue ink fluorite from Xuancheng/Ningguo, Anhui. The white base is natural kaolin matrix, representing the original ore—no adhesive bonding. The fluorite in this deposit naturally exhibits a blue-to-green transition, with thicker crystal areas displaying rich ink-blue hues while thinner sections appear green. This color variation stems from inherent natural chromatic differences, not artificial staining.”
When viewing images on google regarding the fluorite from that mine, I don’t see any evidence of that being a legitimate base.
When viewing fluorite specimens for sale with Kaolinite or Kaolin, they look much more natural.
The top “white” layer is very thin and artificial looking.
Has anyone had any experience with fluorite from this mine or have opinions about it?
I was considering asking the seller to provide proof that it originated from the specified mine, any other ideas?
Some are listed in my shop: https://stoneandstrata.etsy.com. You can pay there if you prefer.
I prefer payments through Venmo. purchase protection, but I also accept many other forms!
I have a lot of other fossil and mineral specimens available.
Beautiful and complete calcite crystal’s with a sparkling plate of dolomite from the famous Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA. These calcites crystalized slowly in open space cavities in the surrounding limestone & dolostone over 300 million years ago. Let me know what you think of my specimen
coming up in one week, please join us! we'll have 25+ vendors with a variety of mineral and fossil specimens, crystals, gems and jewelry, knowledgable long time collectors, two big beautiful raffle prizes, and more!
I started making cabochons and polished pieces last year and just opened a shop to sell the extra pieces I make. They are mostly in necklace and pendant form.
I also have a couple prepared and paraloid coated unclassified chondrite meteorites.
I plan to add some perky box thumbnails I've put together as well in the future.
Bright yellow rare Ettringite crystals on a calcite. It’s so saturated and uniformly yellow that my phone camera has a hard time capturing the individual crystals. It looks much better in person as do most specimens. Let me know what you think of it :)
I have neglected my poor specimens. I'd like to restore them to their previous glory and put them in a case. How do I clean them safely? First pic to show how nice they used to look. I have aqua, garnet, dioptase and a few others.
I have a unique set of Pd/Pt+Au bearing ore minerals available. I have sold these through Reddit on a few occasions but rarely get around to re-post. Most of our sales are to Geology departments, PGM collectors, small-scale refiners, and to lapidaries.
A couple notes: To Lapidaries: Many of these minerals have a serpentinite component which means asbestos fibers when cut/ground. Please use caution if you intend to purchase these for this purpose. To small-scale refiners: PGM metals occur at part per million levels within sulfide hosts- processing these specimens for metal content is extremely difficult and should not be done without a great deal of experience handling acids, refractory metals, and fume hoods.
These were originally collected over the last decade for building education sets which profile the lifespan of the unique mineralization of the Stillwater Complex in Montana. In general, major economic operations mine these materials in their "fresh" non-altered, partially enriched forms at around 9-24 grams of Pd/Pt per metric ton of rock processed. These specimens can show grades significantly higher than general mine grades, some reaching well into the 150g/t+ area.
The set contains specifically: Sulfidic Anorthosite/Troctolite, Sulfidic Dunite/Pegmatitic Dunite, Sulfidic Serpentinite, Mineralized Bronzitite/Pyroxenite, Mineralized Gabbronorite (II). These specimens are catalogued, come with providence sheets detailing mass, specific gravity, locality, and composition. These are generally net-textured sulfide in silicate or post-sulfide gossanous in silicate.
These pieces are a living piece of the richest Pd/Pt deposit on the planet.
Pricing is done per specimen weight and unique features and proceeds from these sales will cover the development of additional sets which profile some of the rarest/most unique geology on the earth. We will cover shipping on orders at or over $150.
Please reach out for a more complete list of what is available currently. Base pricing is as follows but pricing on large pieces varies based on specimen size:
Sulfidic Anorthosite/Troctolite/Leuconorite -Closest to mine grades, sample specimens grade ~10-20g/t Pd/Pt+Au-$25/ 1oz mixed small pieces. $30/ 1oz whole piece, $45/ 3 oz piece, $70/ 100-150g piece, $95/ 150g+ piece- varies*. Bulk pricing can be done for orders over 10lbs.*
Sulfidic Dunite/Pegmatitic Dunite/Sulfidic Serpentinite-Exceptionally high grades and strong aesthetic value. ~20-75g/t Pd/Pt+Au where sulfidic, lower grades where lower sulfide content remains. -High Sulfide: $25/ 5-25g piece, $45/ 26-75g piece, $75/ 76-150g piece, $100/ 150g+ piece - varies per specimen (Very few large pieces available) -- Mid/Low Sulfide: $10/ 5-25g piece, $20/ 26-75g piece, $35/ 76-150g piece, $60/150g+ piece - varies per specimen.
Sulfidic Bronzitite/Pyroxenite/Gabbronorite(II) -Most grade variation in the lot. Some specimens are aesthetically striking but nearly barren in PGM grades. Other specimens are objectively "uglier" (See photo of web/net-textured specimen) but can contain astronomically high PGM grades. These specimens have to undergo XRF-per-sample tests because the grades vary so wildly.Grade confirmed:$35/ 1oz mixed small pieces. $40/ 1oz whole piece, $65/ 3 oz piece, $90/ 100-150g piece, $120/ 150g+ piece- varies*.* Grade Unconfirmed: $25/ 1oz mixed small pieces. $30/ 1oz whole piece, $45/ 3 oz piece, $70/ 100-150g piece, $95/ 150g+ piece- varies*.*
Many specimens like the ones pictured are still available in different sizes. As they are all very unique and tell their own story, the pricing can vary for pieces which are similar in size or weight. That said, I have specimens as small as 6g and specimens as large as 50lbs. I guarantee I can find something within your size/price range if this is something you are genuinely interested in.
Bulk pricing is available in most cases. Discounts for verified educators/universities are available as well. All of that being said, we want to help get these into the hands of people who are passionate about rockhounding, prospecting, geochemistry, and would like a living piece of one of the most complex mineral systems on earth.
Please feel free to reach out for information, photos, and more! I am always more than happy to discuss this mineralization whether you intend on purchasing anything or not.
Same user as the post from before - Underwilder - my old account disappeared with no explanation.
