Design Banner and icon sizes

What is the IDEAL size for a banner, and for a channel icon?

I'm seeing lots of conflicting info.

Banner 1920 × 384? or 1072 × 128 px for desktop and 1080 × 128 px for mobile?

Icon - square? Does size matter? 512 or what?

Thx

Design Reddit has started adding AI summaries to every user on rollover. This isn't helpful. Is there a setting to turn it off?

Moderators now get an AI overview of every user on desktop. It's useless stuff. See example: https://i.imgur.com/U59qFBe.png

I see what someone posts before seeing a summary of that user, including knowing what is spam. This summary couldn't detect spam, it simply told me "User posts in different subreddits". Not particularly useful.

Can I switch off this 'feature'?

Design How do you make a post or user Flair with a "wide" image/custom typography? see r/GTA6 for examples

In the Gta 6 sub, the flairs they use basically look like they used custom fonts, however from my knowledge they are using custom emojis. The only thing I don't get is how are they eliminating the spacing between the custom emojis, in order for it to look seamless?

Someone already downvoted me without reading lol. Im not asking about traditional flairs. this is obviously a very unique case here.

Design Help with icon alignment

So, I've made a subreddit and I'm having a problem with the icon. It's not centered in the app but centered in the web. Like it's cropped from the side in the app.

Please help me.

Design Unable to update subreddit icon.

[Desktop] I made r/YahwehEats about a day ago and tried to set the subreddit icon to a picture of a cat with a spread of cash and two guns in front of it, it is the very first post on the subreddit as well if you want to know what the picture is as well. I set it and made sure to apply the changes, multiple times. It is STILL a default icon.

Design How to create a warning in comments

On iOS. There’s a sub I’m in that has a warning in the text box when commenting reminding people to be respectful of other users or risk being banned. I would like to add a warning like that in my sub for comments as we have had an uptick in hateful rhetoric and I’d like to remind users that we have a zero tolerance policy on things like hate speech and derogatory language. How can I do that? Do I need to do this on a computer or can I do this from my phone?

Eta: attempting to create an automation is requiring me to add conditions for the automation to pop up such as keywords, but I’d like this to appear in the comment box before a user even starts typing.

Design My added and saved banner is not showing up on subreddit? (Screenshots available)

I have added a banner to my subreddit. It showed on PC (Chrome) and it shows as saved in mod tools, but when visiting the community on mobile (iPhone) whether on my account or anonymous browsing, it shows a sample banner with pink squiggles instead. I have screenshots showing both the saved banner and the default banner. The profile picture is working though. Anyone know whats going on?

Design How to pin a post in a subreddit? (on desktop)

I've created a post on a new subreddit, but whether I look at the three dots or the shield next to it, there is NO option for 'sticky' or 'pin post'. What is it and why make things difficult for us?

I'm on PC desktop.

Design How to change a subreddit's cursor?

I'm only able to do it on old.reddit, yet I've seen another sub change theirs, just a few months ago, on the new reddit.

So I don't understand what's preventing me? (I'm using desktop.)

Any input would be appreciated.

Design I've found our users to be overwhelmingly negative about any post or comment that doesn't specifically cater to their opinions. Does anyone have experience with hiding or getting rid of Downvotes entirely?

It's a radical idea I've been kicking around for months now but our new queue is a graveyard of perfectly acceptable and relevant content that dies because our users are so full of negativity.

Has this been done before? I brought it up to my team and they said there may have once been a way to hide the downvotes with CSS but no one was sure how to proceed.

Any thoughts are welcome. I use the reddit app on android mobile and old.reddit on my PC.

Seriously, since the launch of game on Reddit, I've had a constant red dot on mobile for games. I rely on that dot to tell me I need to do something with my community. Stop!

Design Assign Random User Flairs to Unflaired Commenters with AutoModerator?

Hi everyone! We're looking for a way to automatically assign a **random user flair** to anyone who comments without already having one.

We have around **50 user flairs**, and we'd like the assignment to be completely random, not based on karma or any other criteria. If a user already has a flair, nothing should happen.

I've seen this working on other subreddits, but the mods I contacted never replied, so I thought I'd ask here. Does anyone have the AutoModerator code for this, or know if another bot is needed?

Thank you very much! iOS

Design How do you put a gif on the sidebar?

while browsing on desktop, I noticed on r/Rickowens that they have gifs on their sidebar.

I would like to know how to do the same for my subreddits, as the image buttons only allow png or jpg.

I appreciate the help!

Design The sidebar has been changed to a scrollable menu with a set height.

(Desktop)

Seriously? Is this how it's gonna be now, even in the main page of the subreddit?

This is not intuitive. Unless you hover over it, you're not gonna know it has more information and new users may miss on something important.

I understand that in posts it's kinda bothersome to have to scroll a lot to reach the end of the page if a subreddit has a long sidebar, but this isn't an issue on the main page.

Can this be changed or reverted?

Design Is there a way to add a leaderboard that tracks sub members progress towards their goals? I've seen the sports leaderboards, but they're not adaptable.

Anyone know of a way to do this? We're a writing sub, so we set word count goals for the month. I'd love to be able to track progress visually way across the month.

Or a competition progress kind of thing that's not based on contributions/upvotes?

Desktop or Android.

Thank you!

Design Emojis keep turning into a snowman and breaking?

Okay, little annoyed I cant add photos to posts.

Here I go explaining it as best I can.
When making new post flairs, If I add an emoji, custom or normal, It adds it with a snowman emoji underneath it, and when I hit "Create" on the new flair the emoji appears as it's :textversion: instead of as an image, it makes no sense.

I've refreshed the page, no change, what's going on lmfao.

I recently created a sub and I'm the only mod for now. I have a weird state in my permissions where it says permissions are "everything" yet "you can edit" says no. What should I do?

edit: The big problem is I can't seem to add banners or a flag, no option to save
