Yamaha YSR 80, still fun 34 years later
My dad had this JDM YSR 80 shipped from Japan when I was a kid. I still have a blast on it every time I take it out.

Check the photos. That’s a f’ing nail. 2nd one in 10 days. That tire has 150 miles on it MAYBE. I’ve never plugged a motorcycle tyre. I know it’s done. Is it advisable?

Hi Redditors. I picked up a 2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 K4 as a barnfind. The previous owner had this silver ribbon strapped to the handlebar. What is it for? Key fob for scale.
And, I Cannot get the bike to run, I've flushed out fuel tank, fitted a new battery, and all I get wheni connect the battery is the Datatool alarm sounding off and CHECK sign on the dash.
Any hints or tips welcome. Previous owner cannot be contacted.

Is there a reason motorcycle shops or mechanics take forever to do any work to your bike? I’ve talked to some who don’t have open slots for anything for 3-6 months, but when you talk to them about getting work done they always say that it will be quick and done soon. My bike has been at a shop for 3 weeks for diagnostic work on the front handlebars and forks that they said would be done within 3 days and they haven’t even looked at it yet. It just doesn’t make sense why they take so long and than act like they prioritize getting the work done and you back on the road.

Looking at possibly buying this from a guy and hope to get some thoughts from more-experienced riders. A couple of questions come up:

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I recently bought a busted savage as a project bike/first bike to learn how to work on them, so far the owners manual has been extremely helpful but I cannot figure out for the life of me where this line goes.
So just to put the description into words: It’s a gas line looking thing coming up out of the engine, and it crosses over to the other side of the bike, the inner diameter is quite large and I have no clue what I’m looking at
Does anyone recognize this line and know where it goes??? I’ve tried so much shit, I even tried using an ai and that thing was a dipshit.

At Moto Aid Malaysia we get the opportunities to transport loads of bikes . However when a Harley Davidson's on deck , extra caution is taken as these are just really heavy bikes. Very unforgiving whenever something goes out of the way.

What do yall use for a continuous looping dash cam for your rides? After getting hit 5mos ago and tearing my rotator cuff, I’m definitely investing in a cam.

So yeah, I'm currently split between two options. Both cost 1100€. Both will be my only vehicle for 10 months in a city by the sea on an island with very steep hills, winding roads, and heavy winter(ish) rains (when it does rain), and where I have never been before. I will have to keep the motorcycle outside, always.
The GS500e is the one I REALLY want. Have wanted one (among others) since getting my A2 license. It is from 1992. It is stylish (that neon purple colour scheme with white wheels, so retro cool), has more than enough power for me (45hp), is light and nimble (160-170kg)...all in all, fun. Cheap enough to run and dead simple air-cooled parallel twin. It has 45.000km and a full service already done (I'll have to trust him on that). No top case, though, but I will get a backpack with something between 60l and 80l for shopping and whatnot. I can strap it to the back steat and they are cheap on Amazon. I have only texted the seller, not seen or tested the bike. It is in the city I will start working at. Going there just to see it would set me back 60€ and a whole day.
The other option, the x-max 250, I have tested and know the owner. I can ride it into the city on day one. It is a purely utilitarian option. A 2008 model. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner, gets you from a to b with enough power to easily climb a 10% - 15% gradient, but no more. Twist and go (not a fan, but I'm stubborn), picks up speed decently. Lots of boot space and sips gas, predictably (fuel injected). Drives very smoothly, does not overheat. It is a more sensible option, seeing as I need my two wheels to get me to work everyday, handle my shopping and my sightseeing too. It has two problems, however: I'm looking at a 200€-ish expense at the bike shop, as it still needs a full service (particularly, the front suspension leaked all of its oil onto the front brake); and it has 80.000km (although the engine runs very smooth and healthy). Heard they can easily reach 120.000km with proper care, like not pushing the engine and timely oil changes and refils when need be).
My main concern with this is that the motorcycle will stay outside, exposed to a subtropical climate. The x-max won't worry me much because of all the plastic covering and fairing. Besides, it is not as old or as "worthy of preservation" (in my view). The GS500E would worry me very much, rust-wise. The street is safe and packed with other people's motorcycles.
Is my plan feasible, or am I setting myself up for pain and disappointment? Any advice on how to keep the GS500E outside rust-free in these conditions? Should I just get the x-max and save myself the trouble? I will be on a tight budget, hence the budget options. Getting a car is not an option. Lots of traffic and parking is very limited, very much paid, and very controlled, except for motorcycles.

Ill be going in 1st gear and already sounds like it's stalling, switch to 2nd, and just goes bump bump bump, dies. Its the most embarrassing thing at a stop light, luckily my girlfriend was following me.

So I've seen led lights on bikes. I wanted to do something unique to my cruiser. I considered those little glow in the dark stars that people put on ceilings, affixing a bunch, but it might be tacky, and would lose charge quickly. I saw glow paint jobs on cars before and they're slick as hell, but again it needs to be charged and only lasts Short time.
Then I had an idea to take the active ingredient of the glow, and create a liquid suspension and pump it through a system of transparent tubing that would be affixed to my bike, routed from front to back, in a loop, and having it pass through a UV led charging unit located in the saddle bag that would continuously charge the fluid as it cycles through.
I think it might create a unique effect, and I could further lean into the aesthetic by adding Borg aesthetics. It seems feasible, electrical load shouldn't be too high. Though a wreck would look like a toxic sludge nuclear spill. Any thoughts on such a project?

-some scratches on front
Bike #2: Suzuki SV650 2017
- Asking $7,500 OBO (paid 3.5 for it)
- Clean title
- 697 miles
- Garage-kept

Are either of them priced too high, or do you think they're worth what I'm asking? Im not looking to sell them here i just need honest advice on their pricing.

Found on my local marketplace listing. I really hope they added an extra zero by mistake.

I have this scratching noise coming from the clutch cover/right side of the motorcycle. it only happens in first gear above 10 kmph when I hold the clutch in and let the bike coast. it doesn't happen in any other gear or in standstill.
The sound is like metal on metal scraping. It gets louder the faster I roll.
I really hope it's not transmission related. Would cost me more than the bike to fix.
Any idea's?
