Look up the hackamore or bottle knot! I was told sailers would use it to tie the bottle to themselves when too drunk to hold it anymore.

i have seen the ones with a second strap that attaches the bottom to a backpack strap, and i'd like to make a v2 with that.

Will be interesting to see how it holds up over time. Do post updates, even if it's not working out well, it'll be good to learn from.
