New NBA Fan Looking For Advice
I'm going to follow the league for the first time ever and was wondering should I just stick to following my chosen team for the entire season (Phoenix Suns) or should I throw in a secondary team also and if I'm following more than 1 team should I just watch the games condensed or watch games in full?
I'd like to keep up around the league without having burn out mid-season trying to keep up with everything. Can't wait for the season to start.

You either like watching hoops or you don't. It's really not that complicated.

Your chosen team+ marquee matchups (OKC vs Spurs, Wolves vs Nuggets etc..)
and burnout can be avoided by just not watching when you don't want to

I'm a lifelong Suns fan. There have been other teams I've enjoyed watching because of certain players or team identity at that moment, but the enjoyment doesn't carry over when the roster changes. There is no second team. There are a couple teams I will hate forever no matter who is on it, but no team that I could like in the same way as the Suns.

Condensed seems best option. Full game but in 40 mins

Man fuck no. Why the fuck are basketball fans advocating for watching less basketball

Because it’s full game but less time. No brainer

If you're new to the sport watching condensed versions of games will not help you understand hoops. Momentum is an integral part of basketball and you can't experience that in highlights.

Not gonna lie, your Suns team is projected to suck for the foreseeable future.
They are in PRE-Rebuilding mode, if you ask me. That means they are going to actively try to get worse, before they try to get better.
If you want a team that will still be fun to watch during the playoffs, take a look at some of these teams.
Wolves - Ant and Melo will make this team not only elite, but probably the most fun/exciting team to watch, with huge upside.
Spurs - Wemby is amazing. And he has 2 all-stars in the making as teammates, that are somehow younger than he is (Castle, Harper).
Detroit and Orlando are both up and coming, with Cade Cunningham/Paolo Banchero as really solid franchise players.
But come join the Wolves party, it'll be super fun I promise you.
While you're at it, become a Minnesota Vikings fan too.

Get a Miles Bridges jersey and always hype up how he plays. This sub loves him and will appreciate you every time you praise him.

I’d focus on stars because they are usually bringing on the entertainment. People like Wemby (on Spurs), Luka (on Lakers), and Melo/Ant (on Wolves) are fun to watch. Wolves in particular are gonna be pure of highlights with that duo.
If you’re new, it’s okay to bandwagon a winning team. It sucks to go for a losing team if you’re not really dedicated to watching the sport yet, it can feel directionless and boring a lot of the times.
If you’re wanting a bigger sample of teams, I’d recommend focusing on the NBA Cup (in-season tournament) games that start at the end of October and is generally higher level of competition because they have more “meaning”. It will be a good way to see what other teams you like watching.
